In the T-Mobile store (and everywhere on the net) they're saying it'll be available the 16th.

The Dash did not debut anywhere. The press release states availability in stores on October 25th. Why do these carriers and manufacturers taunt us with an announcement two weeks before anyone can even see one? By the time the device is available people will have lost interest and found something else to buy. Companies need to take a clue from Apple and have products available when they announce them.
idoublel2thac @ Oct 11th 2006 5:02PM
LOL I saw it today at my local T-Mobile store... The device is amazing and well worth the price tag. I expected it to be alot more than that. I am definitely buying one and I'm telling you guys when you get a chance to play with one you'll say the same thing...
Kaizen Maven @ Oct 11th 2006 5:46PM
It is just me or does that phone have hips?
Craig @ Oct 11th 2006 9:22PM
960mAh battery??? [rubs eyes]
My Treo has an _1800_ mAh battery and it's just enough...I can't imagine a phone having half that capacity, let alone something with Wi-Fi in it.
jonnn @ Oct 12th 2006 12:31AM
i had a friend ask a tmobile rep about it when she went in. That guy had nooo freaken clue what the tmobie dash wass muhahahha. gah i want this phone with that nifty scrolll bar thing damn you tmobile
idoublel2thac @ Oct 12th 2006 5:08PM
Acutally Craig, I've seen the Dash in person twice now and if you read the Cnet review on the phone you will know that the Dash has an estimated 5 hrs talk time but actually went way beyond that and doubled the estimated talk time and went on for 11 hrs of talk time without using any of the Wi-Fi or any other applications of course. But this is more than enough battery for this phone. It is a smart phone that uses its battery power sufficiently and therefore it doesn't matter if its a slim device or not it is definitely better than anything on the market right now and i am definitely getting one of these the day it comes out.
Bryan Haas @ Oct 13th 2006 8:34AM
Yesterday I had gone into the T-Mobile Store (actual store, not a kiosk) in a fruitless attempt to get one of these sweet examples of phone-porn, and the "Regional Manager" stated that the release was being delayed beyond Oct 16th... Not quite sure what that means.
I dont yet see them yet on the TMo website...anyone have additional info on the fact that it was released?
idoublel2thac @ Oct 13th 2006 8:21PM
Bryan Haas, Yes I know when it is going to be released. It will be released on Oct 25th as advertised. This is not a guarantee that all T-Mobile stores will even carry them at first but that is the scheduled release date. If you go to tmobile.com you will see that they have the phone on there website and are advertising it with no price but with the availability date of Oct 25th. I'm not quite sure if I'm going to purchase this device anymore only because I checked with T-Mobile and they stated that I cannot have Total Internet on my plan for a full year due to my credit class but I don't have to pay a deposit. I don't see the point in purchasing this device if I can't take full advantage of it. I would like to find out if anyone knows some info as to which carrier has the best plans in the future for their network but I will probably get an answer back that Verizon does seeing how they spend the most money on their network. I'm out of contract with Sprint right now, but I might just renew and take the perks that they pitched my way as far as devices go and get the PPC-6700 for $299 and keep my plan of 500 anytime mins and unlimited free incoming calls for $59, unlimited power vision for $20 and unlimited texting for free or if the new phone (8525) the successor to the (8125) comes out before Nov 8th (my cancellation date) then i might just get Cingular and that phone and hope that Cingular's speeds are anywhere close to Sprint's and Verizon's...
yep @ Oct 15th 2006 2:36PM
if you came back as a smart access customer based on your credit you have 2 options actually you can choose to pay no deposit and wait a year then by keeping your account in good payment standing you are eligible to be converted to a regular account. the alternative is to pay a $250 deposit at the time of activation and you are then converted from smart access to a regular account. the deposit is refundable after a year provided your payment status throughout that year is good. smart access allows those who haven't built up enough credit or might not have the best credit to still have an account without paying a high deposit, however smart access gives you a spending limit which is why data add on features are not available to smart access customers.
idoublel2thac @ Oct 16th 2006 10:57AM
yep, I know the details of smart access and I opted to stay with Sprint instead of change carriers. Plus the Dash isn't anything revolutionary it just competes with the Motorola Q. I tried to get an unlocked Nokia N80 but the guy wanted too much for it so I'm going to get a 6700 instead. It should be comming in the mail pretty soon. The deal breaker was the fact that T-Mobile wanted a deposit to be able to access the web and yet they are stuck in 2.5G and haven't even got to 3G yet. Sprint has the fastest connection so far with their new revision A and they are going to be the first ones to deploy 4G technology. Cingular has got to 3G and they are trying to make it 3.5G with the new Motorola Maxx which I was about to buy unlocked from T-Mobile for $300 then I thought about it and said theres no point because with Sprint I have a 25% discount off my monthly recurring charge (MRC) and they gave me additional discounts for staying with them. 500 anytime minutes and free incoming minutes for $59, Power Vision for $10, Unlimited text for $8, Equipment Protection for $6 and PCS to PCS for free.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE PHONE IS GOING TO BE RELEASED
matt d @ Oct 19th 2006 12:42PM
Went into a TMO store yesterday at lunch and they said shipments are being recieved Thursday (today) and Friday, and that it will be available for purchase on Monday.
doug.mcclintock @ Oct 19th 2006 9:01PM
they said they are going to sell the dash on the 23rd instead of the 25th are you sure.
Edub @ Oct 24th 2006 9:23PM
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?!?!?! $350.00?!?!
Justin @ Oct 26th 2006 12:44AM
I got the phone yesterday for $250 with a 2 year contract extension. It's $350 to just buy it with no plan/extension. The phone is absolutely amazing, and everything I could ask for. I can even share it's internet to my laptop via bluetooth. The only bad thing about this is that it costs $30 more monthly than my sidekick did. I had the 600 minute plan and sidekick unlimited which cost me around $60 monthly.. I'm now up to $92 monthly.. But it's so worth it.
William Harbour @ Oct 26th 2006 2:34PM
Had this phone for a day now....it is really nice. Three biggest compliants: 1) if you like to use voice activated dialing you have to dig to get to it which kinda defeats the convenience aspect. 2) Cant "mark all as read" in your email 3) the number buttuns for dialing are a bit small...Other then those I am extremely happy. I tried the T Mobile MDA and the Pearl and this is the best of the three...
Christy @ Oct 27th 2006 1:20PM
I am considering Pearl so why do you like this better?
trish @ Nov 9th 2006 8:52AM
this phone is amazing! i had a blackberry for 7 mos......eh it was ok. things about it that sucked (web browsing limited, bulky in shape) so then I decided I wanted windows mobile and wanted an ipaq SOO bad. what a disappointment. the ipaq claimed to do everything but did NOTHING WELL> this phone (in contrast) does it all, and REALLY DOES IT! It is the shi--, i love it. It's sleek, thin, the battery lasts forever. simple to navigate, full browser features, email, camera, video, mp3, windows mobile.. I can't BELIEVE it was only 200 bucks. my search is over! the camera takes REALLY CLEAR PICS. it does NOT do well, however, with moving pictures, unless i just havent figured out the feature yet that perfects that. This phone literally has it all. everywhere I go people are asking me where I got it and what it is. It's classy looking and feels soft and nice to the touch. this phone is the shit. voice quality is AMAZING. and i live in a basement aparment and it is the ONLY phone i've owned in the 2 years I've been there that doesn't go below 3 bars in any spot in my apartment. I've had ONE dropped call in the 2 months I've had the phone. I love this phone.

Just was searching for programs for it (good ones are hard to find you know) and found this. I have to say, this is by far the best smartphone I've ever used. It does really well with streaming video and music files from computers on my home and work network (saves my microSD slot for apps). Also, one of the earlier comments said it was hard to get to voice dialing, just hold the home key for a few seconds and it will come right up ;) Although, I prefer that to access apps over phone calls, because most of the time, they're listed in my myFavs list and accessable with a few clicks on the d-pad.
I wish the wap browser would allow you to go to other websites besides T-Zones (although I've been editing the registry to do that lately by changing the homepage, however, it keeps asking me to open it in the default browser (IE) which the website detects as a full browser and shows not what I want :p ). Nonetheless, I still find it to be the funnest and most work productive phone available...

I just recieve my new t-mobile Dash. Its ok if thats what you like. Some Pros are:
1. very light weight
2. Nice graphics
Cons:
1. Takes to long to complete one thing. To many clicks to get one job done.
2. Also, the internet isn't as good as most would think. I have a sidekick 3 and that internet is much quicker, although the dash has great internet views.
3. The keyboard is very hard to type on. For those coming from having a sidekick to a dash won't be pleased with the way the keys are layed out. They are kinda difficult to type.
4. The camera is great if its daylight and the image your taking the picture of isn't moving.
5. The camera works well but you can't hear whats being said to well.
6. When on the phone, the sound isn't the best quality.
The Dash itself, is a great phone if thats what your used to. If your a sidekick user, don't waste your time going over to the Dash... you won't be happy...
Kathryn @ Oct 15th 2007 4:57PM
The LCD screen on the dash is unreasonably sensitive to pressure and will crack easily... T-Mobile says that this is not under warrenty and will charge you $100.00 to fix it even if there isn't a scratch on the phone!
