Sanyo CE42LM4WPR: the new 42-inch "ruggedised" monitor

If you've got a big budget and need a monitor that can withstand outdoor conditions ranging from firehoses to dust clouds to exhaust fumes, then Sanyo may have just the product for you. For £3,825 ($7,274) you can get Sanyo's latest, the CE42LM4WPR, which brings 42 inches of viewing awesomeness (viewable at 178 degrees), a screen resolution of 1366 x 768, a contrast ratio of 800:1 and a panel brightness of 500cd/m². That's $173 per waterproof inch, if you prefer to calculate it that way.

Last time I checked, my 19 inch monitor does 1440 x 900.

For basic cable/sat you only want a low rez. If it was higher then everything would be pixelated and look like garbage.

Another company called Sunbrite already makes LCD outdoor LCDs

LCD should be better for outdoors anyway over plasma because of a generally brighter screen and lower glare.

The screen is a 2-dimensional surface, so by my math it's $19.29 per SQUARE INCH.

I do a lot of this kind of math to figure out which pizza coupon is the best deal. Turns out the 28-inch "Mammoth" pizza for $35 is an awesome deal!
