Gundam Musou -- PS3's second #1 title in Japan
The PlayStation 3 doesn't have that many games. It's true. Some may even say with a straight face that about half of the games available... aren't that good. While in America, the Gundam franchise is usually regarded with a scoff and an oft-muttered "crazy Japanese" insult, Japan loves them some Gundams. This is very apparent with the release of Gundam Musou, which in its first week of release, snagged up around 171,000 units. That's a little under 25% of all PS3 owners in Japan, according to VGCharts. Speaking of that website... the PS3 has crossed the 2 million mark! Hooray!
This is the second PS3 title to take the #1 spot in Japan... the other was Virtua Fighter 5, selling about 49,000 units during its release week. As you can see, Gundam Musou sold a heck of a lot more. The rest of the bestseller chart is riddled with DS titles... no surprise there. But, still, we crossed the 2 million mark! Perhaps we'll quickly pass the 3 million mark upon Europe's launch. We'll see. This was a double-whammy post! You got a bestseller report and a console sales blurb. Aren't you glad?
