Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I finally got a new laptop with a lone USB 3.0 port. I'm now looking at getting a USB 3.0 hub with a power adapter so I can use both of my USB 3.0 hard drives at faster speeds. I've read lots of horror stories where some hubs either don't come with power adapters -- and as a consequence the portable drives don't work with them properly -- or they are designed poorly which results in USB 2.0 speeds. Or, the hard drives keep getting disconnected. Do your readers have any suggestions or experience using USB 3.0 hubs? Thanks!"
Apparently none of you guys realize how bad of an idea a touch-screen is on a phone. I foresee some pretty obvious and pretty major problems here.
I'll be keeping my Samsung A707, thanks. It's smaller, it's got a protected screen, and it's got proper buttons. And it's got all the same features otherwise. (Oh, but it doesn't run a bloatware OS that was never designed for a phone.)
Color me massively disappointed.
And this is what Jeff said back in 1984:
"Apparently none of you guys realize how bad of an idea a mouse is for a computer. I foresee some pretty obvious and pretty major problems here.
I'll be keeping my Commadore 64, thanks. It's cheaper, it's got Lotus 1-2-3, and it's got a command line operating system. And it's got more software. (Oh, but it doesn't run a bloatware "Graphic user interface" that eats all the processing power.)
Color me massively disappointed."
And this is what he said in 2001
"Apparently none of you guys realize how bad of an idea a clickwheel is for a mp3 player. I foresee some pretty obvious and pretty major problems here.
I'll be keeping my Diamond Rio, thanks. It's cheaper, it's got all my music on it, and it's got a better battery. And it's smaller. (Oh, but it doesn't run a bloatware GUI that eats all the battery power.)
Color me massively disappointed."
Will you never learn?
I can see how there might be problems, too...but they also seem to have taken that into consideration.
See slide 6: "ignores unintended touches"
I'm not sure how, exactly, they intend to do that...but one can always have hope!
Russel's comments, while 100% factual are also freaking Hilarifuniness!!
that's right, who NEEDS multitouch screen buttons when we can have teenie, fragile buttons that breaks after 100x uses. And you don't have to get one anyways cuz NOBODY CARES about your opinion
Lol...lol...lol...lol...lol...Oh my god Russell that is the funniest thing i've ever read ...lol...lol...lol...lol...lol...lol...lol.
everyone who's complaining about the "touch screen" is obviously badly researched. it is infact not a touch screen at all. its a NEW technology totally patented by apple called multi-touch...so again not a touch screen..do your research
Take a look at the N1m. http://www.neonode.com/
This is a phone built over a year ago on the same touch screen principle. The screen isn't like one of a Treo though, for example. It was designed to be used with your thumb and is very precise.
its a new concept why not try it and if its going be such a problem why don't you list the problems you foresee. i can see you maybe pressing a button accidentally now and then but your not gunna break it unless you do anything stupid
I agree with you about the touch screen. I was looking at the chocolate phone in verizon and the touch screen made it a real pain in the ass to do simple things.
using xda touch screen phone's, (I'm currently using the 'exec') for four years, it has been proven to me they are the present, buttons are the past. given the windows mobile os works, I'd imagine os xmobile will be a dream, can't wait to use this phone.
Seamus.
Im sorry to read your comment, but OS X is actually a better operating system then well Windows Mobile. Besides that the OS X was designed to be built into a phone. One thing also Apple is always predictable for one thing. Out doing others
Staying stagnate with what you know may be comfortable, but it's boring and you'll get left behind in the dust. Sorry but technology moves forward even if you choose not to. I prefer a dynamic touch screen, not static buttons. Plus remember, this is not just a phone. It is a 2MP camera, internet device, phone, and music/video player. I want one!
maybe you should watch the introduction video of it, because steve clearly states that it ignores unintentional touches. & for everyone else who hasnt watched it & wants to know, yes it has bluetooth & yes it has wi-fi.
thats all. just do your research before you talk.
I like protected screens and buttons too, but if Apple doesn't produce a rigid sleeve to protect this device, it is certain that someone else will--even if I have to make one myself. The fact that a working car gets in more accidents than a dead one is no reason not to have a working car.
Although vulnerable to damage, a screen can be protected, even in this very-fine device!
well i can say this is one hell of a product. i work for apple and do tech support for ipods. ive had a chance to see this thing and it is better than anything blackberyy or hp have ever made. yes it has the mac OS but that OS is way better than windows.
As Jeff said up above: (Oh, but it doesn't run a bloatware OS that was never designed for a phone.)
Well all I can say is have you designed this phone? than how do you know the OS wasn't made for this phone. for gods sake man windows wasn't made for anything. not even a computer. i think this phone will have some problems at the start. its expected because it is apple's first phone. once the bugs are out this phone will kick ass. i don't see too many other phones out there that have widescreen capability for this price. sorry Jeff but i guess you'll be missing out on a lot if your gonna stick with samsung...
