Next-Gen tells the story of O3 Entertainment, a publisher releasing a new shoot 'em up in February for GameCube called Radio Allergy. The idea behind releasing the title for the dying, if not dead, console is that it costs publishers less money to do so. But the real kicker is the belief that a growing number of Wiis may be selling to a non-GameCube crowd, thereby allowing Nintendo's older console to theoretically increase its 21 million total install base without ever selling another console; all because of full backwards compatibility on Wii.
So will the GameCube live on via Wii Botox? Probably not. The cosmetic drug may cover up some wrinkles for a short while, but you're still old.
