In case you couldn't really wrap your brain around what a
white version of the
BlackBerry Pearl might look like, we've finally laid our paws on some eye candy that should clear things right up for ya. According to our sources, it's not a flat color, but a pearly white that "shines" -- a little more glitzy than the solid black we're used to seeing on this sucker. Look for the phone to launch this coming Monday for the same price as its darker sibling (we hope), but in the meantime, click through for s'more visuals.

I don't know. Nothing looks as cool now that the iPhone is out. Even my MotoQ which I love (read, loved) is looking pretty chapped.

Fuck the iPhone and its limited feature set. Seriously the damn thing is so limited I couldn't care less anymore. This FAQ http://pogue.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/01/11/the-ultimate-iphone-frequently-asked-questions/
was a real eye opener on just how limited the iPhone is going to be. Maybe V2.0 will have more flexibility but V1.0 looks like a crippleware, going to install what we tell you you can install device.
This coming from someone whow owns a C2DMBP and an iPod Photo.
Nando @ Jan 12th 2007 10:48PM
I agree with you 100%. LOL!
Luke @ Jan 13th 2007 6:25PM
Ummm excuse me, the iPhone isn't even out yet. It's not shipping until June 2007.

Hey i notice that the pearl (TRACKBALL IN THE MIDDLE) lights up... my cingular black pearl does not. thats frekin sweet
bryant @ Jan 12th 2007 10:43PM
I have a t-mobile pearl and it should be light sensitive. which means the trackball and keys light up when the outside lighting is low. in bright daylight it should not. if not then there is a problem with you phone.
Jonathan Keim @ Jan 12th 2007 8:15PM
No thanks, I like the black ones better. But I'm going with the vx6800 when it comes
CTG @ Jan 12th 2007 8:25PM
Why buy this piece of crap when I can have an iPhone in 5 months?
Andres @ Jan 12th 2007 8:26PM
what buttons?? that's so 2006.
applesucksLeo @ Jan 13th 2007 2:15PM
Well said. Apple execs. at CES already said it would be locked down with a TPM type chip like they do on their Macs.No Skype...no iPhone for me. No user-replaceable battery? Jobs calls that a forced upgrade.Touch-screen typing with TWO HANDS? My Samsung(VoiceSignal Technologies) does speech to text and works great.Touch typing is not an advancement;it`s a step backwards.
The MSFT "synch" system reads your e-mail to you, plays music and dials numbers via voice. The future is voice actvation , not touch-typing.

No tactile feedback will doom the iPhone as a convergence device. I personally like the T-mobile/HTC Dash, especially with Slingplayer installed.
Mike @ Jan 12th 2007 9:03PM
can you get back on topic,, this is not about the iphone
Hong @ Jan 12th 2007 10:02PM
Right now, it is all about the iPhone. It is the new benchmark. When I saw a new cell phone announcement, I would think "is it as cool as the iPhone?". I just can't help it.
Xinyu @ Jan 12th 2007 10:38PM
No Tactile feedback will not doom the iPhone, but it will doom the iPhone for the above poster named "Bo".
In comparison with iPhone, this phone or pretty much any other phone looks at least 5 years behind.

Mike . . . RE: Your Cingular Pearl Trackball not lighting up. . . It's supposed to. Mine does without any issue at all. It comes on when the keyboard lights up.

I used to want a blackberry pearl.. I thought "wow! a scroll wheel, ingenious." My friend recently got one and I fiddled with it and it felt mighty slim in my hand. I thought it was freakin sweet. But now, it just looks like a big big turd. I want an iphone.
Xinerauqs @ Jan 13th 2007 5:29AM
The iPhone is lame. Truly.
I quite like the white model, personally.
Ryan @ Jan 13th 2007 9:31AM
But it still has "the bottom 40"... (aka plastic keys).
jimmothy86 @ Jan 13th 2007 1:43PM
Someone should make a neckstrap for these Blackberry Pearls and call it the Pearl Necklace, and then they could revel in the ensuing hilarity.
mike @ Jan 13th 2007 2:19PM
The iPhone OWNS.. know why? 100% Software update-able.
How the Hell can anything compete with that, other than... adopting a similar model..
Oh wait.. 200 patents... shit..
(PS. Apple doesn't want people to know about Cingular's movies, that's why it's not 3G... they'll figure something out by June, relax)
fiddle245 @ Jan 13th 2007 5:17PM
All you moronic Apple fanboys on this post, the iPhone is the most overhyped piece of shit since the Newton.
Congrats - youre playing $600 just for a large touchscreen that is impossible to type on, and doesnt even have enough memory to play movies. Have fun living on foodstamps & playing w/ that overhyped unreliable piece of shit!
CSa @ Jan 14th 2007 6:40PM
So just wanted to share some info, the power adapter, usb cable and headset wires are all pearl white too, and the price of both black and white will drop fifty bucks on monday
