Was the
first batch of shots of SMS Technology's
m300 watch phone simply not enough to hold you over until its late March release? Well, we come bearing good news: Round Two of m300 pics is now in the house, and this time around we're seeing the device (we can't exactly call it a "handset," now can we?) in action. The OLED looks bright and reasonably contrasty; hopefully useful life is up to snuff, too. On to the gallery!

FYI definitely strange stuff going on with the m500 and the company that supposedly sells them:
http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2007/10/30/site-claims-online-sales-right
I got this message just tonight (as a old member of the cell phone watch forum):
-----------------------
To everyone who was a member of the forum on the prior domain mycellwatch.com or m500.org or any other related discussion forum domains:
As indicated in the email I sent some of you, I shut down the forum and gave my domains to Gavin and his company per their demands, and what I feel were threats toward me.
With that, I requested Gavin and his company stop harassing me and to not contact me again, or I would contact the police and or FBI.
Unfortunately he seems to think that you (members and many already customers of their company) are not entitled to know why I shut down the site and how I felt about the conversation and statements made to me while speaking with Terry and Gavin.
I wanted to let you all know that I have contacted my local police department and the FBI and made a report regarding all of this. They have requested the list of members on my forum and I have provided them with the user name and email addresses' that signed up.
Please be aware should you receive an email from the FBI in regards to this, that it is not a joke, they got your email address from me.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me at this address:
~Rick (aka TC)
Note to Gavin or Terry:
Gavin, Terry, I'm sure you are included in this list of recipients, and although I do not know which email it is, I want you to know that I too am serious and feel very threatened by you and Terry and will continue to advise the FBI and local authorities to protect myself and any of the members of this forum or customers of yours.
Please stop!

On a lighter and more positive note, I bought a M800 from http://surprisinggift.com/ for about $250 out the door and it got to me in 3 days from China to the States. It is really nice for what it is. It shipped in a nice package and came with two Lithium batteries and a stereo bluetooth headphones (cool that it is stereo, but the cords tangle like crazy). Probably want to replace the bluetooth adapter. I use AT&T and all I had to do was drop my sim card in it to work.
Kev50027 @ Feb 6th 2007 8:40PM
Looks pretty cool, but the resolution of that screen is terrible, and battery life will probably abysmal.
Tyler @ Feb 6th 2007 8:49PM
how will you enter phone numbers? will the only way to enter contacts be through a USB or bluetooth connection?
Nick @ Feb 6th 2007 8:57PM
iCal icon in organizer?
Dave @ Feb 6th 2007 9:12PM
Why use a round face with a square screen? Looks like ass.
Scooter @ Feb 6th 2007 9:43PM
true true. total rubbish.
Matt @ Feb 6th 2007 9:37PM
Wtf is up with the scan lines?
Kev50027 @ Feb 6th 2007 9:52PM
OLED screens have these kinds of issues..
SifuZ @ Feb 6th 2007 9:44PM
Caveat emptor, folks -
I ordered one of these last August when they guaranteed a "pre-Christmas" delivery.
When I didn't receive my watch over the holidays, I began emailing them and have yet to get a response from SMS. I was concerned that they simply took the money and ran until I saw this article. Now I suppose I'll wait until March - but really there's been no communication...
LMB @ Feb 6th 2007 10:26PM
Ditto-could not have been more responsive until they
got my money. No response for two months. I don't
believe they have a product.
amir @ Aug 12th 2008 1:43PM
i spent $2000 on these fuckin fones last year but never recieved them. i went to sydney to their head office and the lady there told me these fuckers have ran away.... i email them and no response!!! its so frustrating
Nick @ Feb 6th 2007 10:38PM
Why are the talk and end buttons the opposite colors than they usually are?
Sir.Pinkerton @ Feb 6th 2007 10:32PM
Haha... "Organizer" - with four buttons.
SifuZ @ Feb 6th 2007 10:45PM
Yeesh. In a way it's nice to know I'm not the only one - but that sucks.
After all the "Ships by Dec. 1st" guarantees, they posted an "Office closed Dec. 14th to January 12th" or something like that on their website, and dissapeared.
When I reply to emails they sent me last year, they get returned. I've only been able to email through their site - and those have gone with no response.
The last time I heard from them was in October, when I asked for an assurance the watch would arrive at Xmas. Their response was, "What is your address? (which was on my inital order), "What color do you want?" and "Why not by an extra?"
Haven't heard from them since.
I hope they're legit - but I gave up the ghost when they never replied to me after their offices supposedly re-opened. Since they're in Austrailia, I don't know how to try and get my money back either...
Maybe they watch this site and can rectify this?
Corey @ Feb 6th 2007 11:03PM
I attempted to purchase this product and was unable to do so on there site. I had sent numerous emails and have never had a reply back about the problems and the web site is no longer available.
Would the author of this article verify that the phone is in production or if any one infact has recieved the phone. I think I will wait for the Nokia 95 to be released.
Tony Rayo @ Feb 7th 2007 2:22AM
I've been burned by products being delayed and getting no word from the source I bought it from (it's kind of something you can't avoid when you deal with foreign or emerging tech companies often enough). I don't live in S. Korea, nor would I want to, but I love their technology - Japan covers my fix for now and I will be living there within a year (I'll send all the editors cheap pocky, snacks, energy drinks and booze... you can get yummy stuff for 100yen which is like 24cents).
However my credit/debit card company (which happens to be Visa/Suntrust btw) is REALLY good at canceling charges and getting me my money back when I tell them someone welshed on their deal and is now out of contact; once even 3 months after the charge. The only time I couldn't get results was a PayPal charge... which is one of the reasons why I don't use PayPal anymore (I had a clear case and could prove they went against their rules plus not send the import game I bought, however the guy crumbled within hours when I contacted the BBB =). I really hope Google Checkout catches on.
ramble(end),
Tony R.

How much are these anyway??
mastraessle @ Feb 7th 2007 9:54AM
I noticed the m300 is quite a bit smaller in size, and from what I could get online they cost around 6-700 dollars. Has anyone used one yet? I would really like to read comments about its performance. Using the phone on this baby is going to be tedious at first because there is no number pad. This means you will have to train it to recognize voice dialing. Still, in light of feeling like James Bond, I would still like to hear some feedback.

$649 AUD so about $505 USD. At least there is no two year contract!
zbdot73 @ Feb 8th 2007 10:46AM
Has anyone considered that images released so far could have have been of a mock up? In all the pictures where a hand is pictured behind the watch, the palm is always in the same position. Also consider the scan lines visible, for all we know the pictures could have been a 14 or 15inch (crt or lcd) monitor with a large fake watch facade put in front and the screens just drawn up in a art program...
TJ @ Feb 25th 2007 9:49PM
Ive got the answers!!! The screen with the lines is just from the digi cam that they used, it happens with computers, tvs etc depending on the digi cam. Ive held to m300 in my hands so it is ligit so is the company, they have a live webcam feed on the front page of the mymobilewatch site the number is +61404701872 ive called it sms etc all live, quality is ok.. And the pics are ligit ive got some high res pics which i want to pass onto engaget, see what i can do!!!

The M300 Wrist Phone watch made by brando china,is now banned from ebay for copyright infringment. The M300 was first developed by an Australian Company SMS Technology and was to be released last yr Sept, but because it was not a practical Unit to be sold and shipped worldwide the company no longer wanted to distribute this model.A chinese company made a fake pirated version of this watch and started selling them on there website and ebay.SMS quickly got them removed and banned.I4Unews did a review on the watch I4U News - M300 Wrist Mobile Phone User Review and has now just recently updated there website saying not to purchase the watch because it is a fake pirated copy of the original.New Buyers Beware of this... look and make sure that whomever has purchased this watch, check quality standards and FCC passed and inspected. The new wrist phone M500 from SMS Technology has been now released and being shipped worldwide, I personaly own this watch and it has passed FCC standards and is not a copy or fake.Overall it is more practical with a color touch screen so you can dial numbers alot easier and send sms text messages ,blue tooth headset , MP4 and MP3 technology and only 15mm thick. The Usability and Practicality of the M500 was worth the wait for the improvments over the M300.............Just thought i should let you guys know the M300 wll soon be removed from most retail websites

OK everyone… http://www.m500.org is up and running with a forum that is not closed (cough cough mymobilewatch). ;)
Please run through things, sign up for the BB, and let me know how things feel work. I've run many a server in the past and still do, but, strangely enough, I've never run a forum. So, this should be fun. :) Feel free to start things off by adding what we've discussed if you so choose.
If you feel there should be a category in the forum, let me know. There is a contact page that goes to me on the site. :)
Ciao,

SMS TECH @ Oct 25th 2007 7:41PM
Anything that has to do with SMS Tech selling the mobile watch M300, M500 or anything else in the future is false as they charge your crdit card and never deliver on the goods. This company is stealing from everyone and you should know they'll do the same to you.
James @ Nov 13th 2007 5:46PM
My friend and I ordered 2 each of the M500 from SMS and 8 months later those bastards sent us our orders and none of them work! NONE!

Rick De Vaney is a scam artist.
www.m500.org forum is a scam. www.mycellwatch.com is a scam.
They censor those that got cheated and ripped off from sms tech.
Here is just one of the posts that was deleted because it tells the story about sms technology:

For Rick De Vaney: (The forum owner)
Good luck with your faulty watch.
Good luck dealing with those that got ripped off.
Good luck with those posters with multiple ID's pumping SMS.
Good luck thinking you can censor people.
Good luck with your forum and all it's 15 legitimate user ID's.

You should at least tell the people about how you couldn't pay the
Chinese manufature which is why they went ahead and sold the M300's as
they were already made, and how you had the odosity to post all over
about how they were fakes. (consedince why they called the so call
fake ones M300 as well? Because they were already made with that logo
on them.)
You should tell the people that the delays over the last 18 months all
while promising delivery next 7 days that you were just raising money
for the Chinese manufature. It had nothing to do with trying to perfect
the so called M500 or else they wouldn't be having hardware and
software problems.
Delivering a mobile watch 18 months late after taking your customers
hard earned cash is nothing for you to be proud of. You released a
product that is nothing but faulty. That's right, I have one sitting
in front of me now and the product is weak. Very weak.
You have failed yet again.
