Hack your Zune FM transmitter, boost output range
Whether it's for lack of interest or, we doubt, difficulty in completion, we just don't see a lot of Zune hacking going on around here. So even though we wish this one helped extend the range of our lonely, virginal Zune's WiFi to promiscuous new distances, we'll still take on a hack that at least boosts the range of our FM transmissions. Just be careful about the FCC and the RIAA, from what we understand neither are particularly keen on this whole wireless music transmission thing.

Whats the point if you've gotta transmit to a source you have to be close to hear anyway?
I'm all for the zune hacking, but eh...i dunno about this one.
well..you can't polish a terd.
FM transmitters suck anyway for sound quality. I know not everyone can pull a stereo and add an AUX input, but if you're gonna disassemble this and solder to it, why not just add a proper input on your stereo?

hate crimes. i guess its not practical, but its cool
Note: that hack is to improve the FM receiver - not transmitter. The Zune does not have a built-in FM transmitter.

Apologies, my mistake. The hack is against the Zune FM transmitter kit - not the Zune player itself.
Thanks for the tip Engadget. But I'm not sure if I want to actually hurt my Zune this way.
off topic. Zune is god. Ipod fanboys are just too cheap to pony up for the zune. Z4L
WHAT?????? for one thing, ipods come MORE expensive than the zune!
and even if you can ignore that, zunes are UGLY!!! and come in BROWN, which makes them look even uglier!
and the final point: the zune's one unique point, the wifi, is absolutely USELESS because even non-DRMed songs get DRMed so YOU CAN'T KEEP THEM!!!!!!!
and for the record, yes i own an ipod, but no, i'm not opposed to replacing it with something better (meaning NOT a zune)
