CE-Oh no he didn't! Part XXVIII - Reggie pokes fun at PS3 shootings
Apparently Perrin Kaplan isn't the only spokesperson for Nintendo speaking a bit too "freely" these days. The man himself, Reggie Fils-Aime, when queried about the PS3 launch lines in an interview with GameHead, asked, "Were those the people ducking to not get shot?" What a comedian! This was following a staunch denial of the PS3 having any lines at E3, which isn't quite accurate -- the lines were just short and more of a per-console thing, since there wasn't the crazy kind of closed room setup at the Sony booth. Maybe he should spend a bit less time honing those witty barbs and more time figuring out a way to get some more of his own console onto store shelves -- before the Wii related violence starts to get out of hand.

He is starting to get on my nerves.
emmenite @ Feb 25th 2007 8:06PM
Although I strongly believe that Reggie is the best thing to happen to Nintendo for quite some time, that comment really irritates me.
Trujillo @ Feb 24th 2007 4:35PM
actually...that was pretty funny
Brennan @ Feb 24th 2007 4:36PM
at the beginning, the host gave updated news *err sort of* about SSBB, that it has been confirmed to be ONLINE, no use of the Wii remote, n will come out at the end of this year, most likely fall or winter.
That is all i needed to know when i watched Game Head at 1am in the morning.
Xavier Gill @ Feb 24th 2007 4:40PM
In his own words "My name is Reggie. I'm about kickin' ass."
Brennan @ Feb 24th 2007 4:43PM
this PROVES that Nintendo is in competition with at least Sony in the console wars!
troy @ Feb 24th 2007 5:00PM
Did all of you get pissed when Jon Stewart mocked Dick Cheney for shooting his friend? You are just trying to use it against him.
Paul @ Feb 24th 2007 5:45PM
The 3 people I know who were stupid enough to buy a PS3 wish they didn't.
2 of them are currently trying to sell them on craigslist but are having no luck because everyone else near Sacramento is trying to unload their barely used ps3 on some other unwitting sap too.
LongshotX @ Feb 24th 2007 5:58PM
I'm no PS3 Fanboy, I prefer the Xbox 360, but what happens when both the PS3 and 360 reach a reasonable cost i.e the consumer's marginal willingness to pay i.e $250 - $300. Microsoft is already poised to start dropping the price on the 360. What kind of effect will that have on gamers and especially on could be Wii owners. What will happen when the PS3 reaches those price levels? (It may take a while, of course). Will the Wii still be as appealing?
StevO @ Feb 24th 2007 7:00PM
Well seeing as how wii is already operating with a profit margin while x360 is barely doing so and the ps3 is way in the red, I think there is a lot of space for nintendo to make price cuts. By the time microsoft and sony feel it appropriate to make their machines more affordable, nintendo will be able to respond in kind.

this is nothing we aren't all aware of ... even if we refuse to admit it for whatever reason.
the PS3 is for hoods and chavs.
CaptSaltyJack @ Feb 24th 2007 7:00PM
Yeah, people in PS3 lines were avoiding gunfire while Wii fans were dying from water intoxication. Pick your poison.
010111 @ Feb 25th 2007 2:21AM
drinking water to win a contest was a personal choice.
standing in line and getting shot is NOT a personal choice. it is a "choice" forced on you violently by a third party.
can you not see this obvious difference?
Castle @ Feb 24th 2007 8:57PM
Do we need all this fanboy hate-mongering going on. PR folks make comments, and it ain't just Nintendo and Sony. Joystiq, Engadget, etc need to just stop reporting and ignore all this sort of trash talk. Fanboy-ism this generation is getting out of hand; on all sides.
Matt @ Feb 25th 2007 12:48AM
I watched it twice and didn't hear this quote...
Alex @ Feb 25th 2007 6:45AM
Its in part 4-1.
John @ Feb 25th 2007 3:08AM
well...
if suicide is a choice, isn't it kind of stupid to kill yourself? At least people in line didn't get shot on purpose...
John @ Feb 25th 2007 3:09AM
EDIT: "At least people standing in line didn't get themselves shot on purpose."
There. Fixed it =)

I was visiting my Alma Mater last night.
I went with some friends to play Bingo, cause... well, it sounded like a modestly boring activity that I could at least nap through.
When we got there, we decided to go bowling instead. Why?
There were 300+ people standing in line.
That's right, to play Bingo.
While at first I thought this demonstrated what a phenomenally boring university I used to attend, my eyes caught on a sign. It said, "Tonight's Grand Prize for Bingo: A Nintendo Wii." Then it started to make sense. Everyone was waiting for a chance at the Wii.
I don't think interest in the Wii is declining yet, at all.
kingofwale @ Feb 25th 2007 1:17PM
the "just shut up" award should go to all 3 consoles, I for one am sick of them trash talk through Media. (and we have to be between it)
if they want to fight it out, just book a time and place and fight to the death the. :D

Busines is business, and I understand Reggie's role in promoting his product, but lets not poke fun of unfortunate situations, because it's disrespectful to the family that had their loved one taken from them.. regardless, of what item was involved, PS3,Wii,shoes, money, car... etc. Be respectful of families, especially since the wii is supposed to be a 'family' oriented product.
mister @ Feb 25th 2007 10:36PM
THIS IS SOOOO FUNNY! FUNY FOR THE FAMILY FUNNY FOR SONY!! HAHAHHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WII MOVE!
nicolas @ Feb 26th 2007 9:58PM
These "E-Oh no he didn't!" articles are getting a bit annoying. I come to Engadget for news and data, not pointless gossip.
