SanDisk Sansa Connect gets dissected
While most of the Sansa Connect coverage has treated the little fellow fairly well up until this point, we knew it was only a matter of time before someone got their hands dirty and cracked it open. Sure enough, the unashamed folks at AnythingButiPod had no qualms peeling back the plastic and taking a look inside, as SanDisk's portable WiFi audio player was carefully returned to a state it once found itself in on the manufacturing line. So for those of you whose eyes light up at the mere sight of PCB, click on through for a few more snaps, and then hit the read link when you're ready for more.

sucker's just one board and a battery...
who decided circuit boards had to be green? do they just come out that way from the silica?

That's just the color of the solder mask, which prevents solder from flowing freely. Its standard color is that green that we all hate so much :P
I tell you what...that's a hellanice site name they have...AnythingButiPod receives +1 l33tness!
Pretty much everything that Sandisk has made lately has been top-notch....let's hope they don't flounder here :)

There is a coating on the top and bottom of the PCB that prevents solder from flowing freely on the board. This is what gives most circuit boards their green color.

I just got this today from Circuit City here in the states. The device is GREAT. Internet radio on a portable device this small with the option to download the song you listen to is THE killer app. The UI is really slick (think flash based).

What's wrong with it being one board? It's a two-sided board.

FYI, this device runs on embedded Linux. Expect hacks and 3rd party improvements coming.
