Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 convertible tablet goes on sale
Considering that Fujitsu's Lifebook T4220 convertible tablet PC just recently hit the FCC and managed to get reviewed a few weeks back, you may not have expected this beauty to be available to the masses just yet, but sure enough, your very own customized T4220 is currently awaiting you at the firm's webstore. Five basic configurations are listed, and while you're already aware of most of the hardware details, we'll just reiterate that you can pick up a T7100, T7300, or T7500 Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, up to 100GB in hard drive space, 802.11a/b/g/n, modular dual-layer DVD writer, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, gigabit Ethernet, and a 12.1-inch XGA display just to name the highlights. Selecting one of the standard configs will run you between $1,769 and $2,099, but as always, tossing in a few extra niceties here and there can ratchet those figures right on up.

Skip it an buy a MAC
Unfortunately, some of us would like more compatibility and a tablet, mnd you. Apple (itself) dosen't make tablets, so those of us who particularly "need" tablets *cough*, would rather get this over a macbook, regardless of how pretty it is.
Andrew, I can almost taste your bitter tears of jealousy. :P
When will tablets start getting ExpressCard slots?
But anyway, Fujitsu tablets are supposed to be very good, and the coolest feature is the dual rotating hinge so you can rotate clockwise and counterclockwise.
probably when expresscard slots have more stuff to put in them :(
damnit senao where is my decent wireless card
Check out the new HP tx1120us. It has tablet capabilities and you can also custom order a tx1000 series with the tablet screen.
I have a Mac, but as someone alse stated, i need a tablet more then the Mac. (well until im home with my wacom :D)
Meh, still waiting for the VAIO TZs to be release in NA.
I hope their own Txxxx product codes don't scare of potential customers who browse for T7xxx intel CPUs with a knee-jerk reaction.
It may not be the prettiest computer but its the most powerful tablet you can currently buy, it also happens to be made by fujitsu whose previous tablets have a great reputation for build quality.
Yeah I want one ;)
Glad somebody realized to make a proper tablet you need a 4:3 screen ratio, those widescreen format just don't work, all your documents are either Letter or A4, both closer to 4:3 format for portrait mode. Now shrink it down a bit, use the 10.4" screen with SXGA, have at least 150dpi.
I was wondering; does anyone know the approximate size of this thing? If it's fairly small, then I would DEFINATELY get one. I simply hate all of those tablets which are huge and too bulky to carry around... I mean, seriously; isn't a tablet ideally supposed to have the same dimensions as a notebook (early 20th century)?
If you want a small, light tablet and are ot too fussed about having a super fast comp then check out motion computing, fujitsu also makes a couple of smaller tablets that might suit you.
I have had the T4010 for a few years now and i have the say it is one of the most functional laptops i have owned.
being older, it is a bit underpowered but it was the only tablet at the time with an modular bay for internal dvd-rw or 2nd battery (which i find essential on a laptop for flexibility), good build quality and was still lightweight (4.3 or so).
With the second battery i got 7 hours out of it with farily heavy use for the first year or so. it has dropped off to about 5 now. looks like the 4220 gets about 6 w/ the second battery in.
i have been very happy with it and recommend it to many people.
the new specs are impressive for the same size/weigh as i have now and i look forward to getting an upgraded version despite the weird grey/white body color.
Ah nice laptop, I love the one's that can swivel that way. Another laptop to add to my list, thanks Engadgey!
