FINALLY!!!!
Anyone got a copy of the ad?
second.. and yes, i wanna see this commercial!
Ya....i want to see that ad!
Man you going to get "Low Ranked" so fast!
I just saw the 60 Minutes ad. Just a simple run through of some of the functions (Phone, Internet, iPod, Email), and then a screen that had the June 29th release date. I wish I knew how to get the vid off my DVR.
@Tylerks
Just play it again with the DVR and then just take a quick video of it with a digital camera. It wont be very high quality, but at least we will know what it looks like.
good news - I imagine it will work. I plan on getting one, the question is do I buy it asap or wait a month or two?
I would say wait a month or two. Review sites will post a TON, and you might even change your mind about getting it - plus, a few bugs may be sorted out.
Yes, the iPhone is a RAZR with a touch screen.

Thanks to Macrumors
Done - you can see it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc-DMfgPI88
I'm on Mountain time. I just set my DVR to record. I believe I can get it off my DVR, onto my Digital Video Cam onto YouTube or here if some lets me know who to get it to Engadget.
FINALLY!!!! :) :) :)
Im so going to get one! (Can I borrow some cash?)
Alright.. all of the three have been uploaded to apple.com
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/
The ad is on the apple site:
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/
Did this commercial just confirm built in GPS!?!? Oh-Em-Gee.
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/
They are all here now. Enjoy :)
A little bit quicker on the draw, lol.
I didn't see the AD but by chance was it one of these?

Heheh yeah I was just gonna point that out myself :)

"requires 2 year service agreement"
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/
Love Jake
I'm trying to comprehend how anyone would want to buy one when it requires a two year contract with Cingular _and_ their outrageous, $40 a month data plan (for EDGE!, to pour salt into wounds).
It may be a damned nice phone, but the service is just a stone around its neck.
strait from the horse's mouth
http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/
"Use requires minimum new 2 year activation plan"
I won't be able to bring one back home :((((((((((((((((
Same interface on upcoming 6G iPod? I'm so excited!!!
Do tell, you got confirmation of that? I've been waiting to know.
Great now who's getting one?
I don't like that activation plan requirement. Seriously, how will it work when I want to upgrade to the 3G, GPS iPhone that will come out within a year?
It's especially annoying that, at $600, we're not getting any discount for agreeing to such a long commitment. AT&T may have "broken a lot of rules" for Apple, but they sure are taking us customers to the cleaners for wanting this new toy.
It has already been said that current customers can get one at the same price points as everyvody else.
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/04/25/iphone-qanda-for-atandt-employees/
No, I just called ATT telesales. For starters, you can go thru them and get an iPhone ordering on the 20th to be delivered by the 22nd for $15 overnight- ported number and all. I asked about a discount and my guy confirmed THERE WILL BE A DECENT AND DEFINITE DISCOUNT FOR A NEW 2 YR CONTRACT. Call them yourself if you don't believe me. Now I can get my phone a whole week early and avoid the mad rush to the stores!
The phone number shown on the phone's display during the Calimari ad is a Real Phone Number. It's a restaurant! Do you think they are receiving a few calls? Do you think Steve owns the restaurant? This is the first time I've seen a real phone number on an ad...usually it's a 555 number.
haha i called them! it is a real place. i hung up after they picked up so I dont know if they are associated with Apple or anything.
Unbelievable.
I am the biggest Apple fanboy but I have hated on the iPhone since day one. I'm on Verizon, love my Treo and see no reason to go to AT&T... until now.
Watching those ads made me almost cry. I'm serious. That thing is absolutely gorgeous, beautiful, amazing. The touchscreen keyboard will take some getting used to, but something tells me Apple took a novel approach to the recognition process.
Wow.
I hate to admit it, but I agree with you... By the second ad, my tear ducts were already swollen. And then I went back and watch the other videos on the site and that was it for me. This is the future...and it's giving me goosebumps! ;P
arghh, the release is one of the worst possible dates for me.
dang, i wish i had known this sooner. Too much secrecy.
i'm definitely getting one, undecided on the 4 or 8 gig model though. will depend on what they have in stock at the time when i go to pick mine up, i think. i'll settle for a 4 if they don't have an 8.
as far as GPS, i seriously doubt the map ad was a confirmation of GPS capability. it's more like that the person already had a location input, and then searched for seafood in that area, and knowing where in that area they were, they then selected the restaurant that was closest to where they already were.
in any case, i would piss my pants if it did indeed have GPS. that would be the icing on the cake.
The AT&T-branded iPhones (as seen in these ads) has an automobile icon in the lower-right corner of the Maps screen. This was noted previously, and is still absent from Apple's own pages (which still display the Cingular brand). It may be possible that this is for Directions, so perhaps a GPS-enabled service (similar to AT&T's TeleNav GPS Navigator) is in the works?
boycott, the price is to high.
and people were complaining about the price of the ps3.
Can't wait to get an unlocked iPhone.
Um, so are the $500 and $600 price points still official? I thought there were rumors that Apple would bring down the price with a contract. I guess it's staying at $600 :\
yes they will I posted a comment call ATT telesales they will confirm discount.
My sprint contract is ending this August, just in time to get the iPhone. Man, I can't wait.
Put it on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc-DMfgPI88
Well now that this topic is off the table, what will Jobs headline at WWDC? I am going to predict the multi-touch MBP tablet running those top-secret Leopard apps.
how bout a new ipod... a true video one, we have been waiting long enough damn
I'm a gadget and computer nut. I bought a Samsung i730 phone the day it was released - for about what the iphone will go for.
I can't see the desire to own this phone. Granted I have not studied it that carefully - but no 3g, touchscreen keyboard and keypad - uugghh.
I have a Phillips Pronto remote - exclusive touch screen use blows. Little or no tactile feel.
Maybe I missed something. Maybe I'm just getting old.
It says minimum 2 years required. I am going to go out on a limb here but perhaps if you sign a 3 year contract, the price drops??
mmmmmh....
If that were the case then everyone should buy a Razor instead of an iPod. Oh wait, the razor kinda sucks as a music player. Oh and it kinda sucks as a video player with the small ass screen.
It's a nice phone, I have one.
no way apple drops new ipods in the widescreen/multitouch format anytime this year. there's no way they would canabalize iphone sales like that. it'd be dumb as shit to put two high-end products that share functionality out one right after other.
They are already in HD quality from Apple.com
I looked, but can't find it. what's the link?
I agree this this is overrated, over hyped, and only appeals to people because it's pretty and made by apple. Oh joy. Guys my ppc6700 can play doom, quake III arena (with multiplayer...makes plane trips much more interesting!), and a ton of other games. It also plays divx movies, ripped dvds, podcasts, any format of music, AND isn't limited to closed platform software. For web browsing hey I've got opera, and it's absolutely fantastic. I wouldn't trade opera for safari on a mobile. What does the iphone give you other than a sinking feeling you just dropped a ton of money and got suckered into a horrible contract?
Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.
Person: "Omg! Look that guy has an iPhone!"
You: "Pff, that's nothing, my PPC6.." *Interrupted* "OHHH, look! HE DOES HAVE AN iPhone!!"
You: "And it can also play rip.." "OH WOW! CAN I TOUCH IT!! Oh, it's sooo slim! And it's an iPod too!!"
You: "I have Oper.." **"Shut up man! The dude's got an IPHONE!!"
You: "I'm not limited to clos..." "SHhh! Iphone dude just found beer and pizza with iPhone!! Yeah!! Let's go get beer and pizza!!" *Crowd chants and carries away person with iPhone.*
Go play Doom on your PP whatever. Iphone guy just got laid- how's that for multiplayer support?
$600 for a phone with only EDGE technology and you have to be tied to Cingular's ridiculously expensive data plans AND they don't give any discounts?
No thanks. I'll keep my Sprint SERO plan and my Treo.
Man, how did Pacific Catch get pimped in the calamari ad?!? That's a real place . . . and it's not very good . . .
Hmmm - not sure. It could be keying off area code??? I hope it has GPS. My stinking TomTom Nav 5 isn't supported with my LifeDrive anymore. Sigh.
I like the idea of this alot and wish I could get one but I would be too worried about dropping it and breaking the screen and since its touch screen. Theres no way it can be protected from breaking other than small surface scratches with one of those screen protectors right? And would cingular offer insurance on it even? I was told they wouldnt even offer it on the new pda style phones like the blackjack.
Here's the questions...Wich one would you choose for 600$...?
iPhone with 2 year contract...no 3g, no HSDPA, no GPS, no removable battery..etc
Or HTC Trinity/P3600 without contract ?
I really wish HTC would make more devices for CDMA users... or at least put pressure on carriers to release WM6 upgrade for the Apache.
The iPhone.
Hmmm .. strangely uninspiring ads considering they're from Apple.
PS - it wouldn't need GPS to do the restaurant lookup, it can do it with just knowledge of what cell you are in.
How come the multi-touch feature hasn't been in any of the TV ads yet?
Because multi-touch is a gimmick with a very limited use case?
I think it's sort of amusing that Walt Mossberg asked Steve Jobs if the iPhone was on track for late June, and Steve said "yes". Then Walt asked him if that meant June 30th, and Steve chuckled and said "no". Well, I guess it wasn't a lie...
Actually, Walt said "as in the last day of June"? And Steve said, "yeah" and laughed.
Does the iphone look smaller to you than the one that steve had in hands in january to me it does

--
It's not really that surprising, he said late June and Walt asked if that meant the last day of the month and Steve said yea. They were both laughing because Apple always does that.
I've had my Macbook for a year and one month and i'm glad I made the switch (officially a Mac fanboy).
But this iphone is a joke. No 3g data services?
Currently i'm with Sprint and there is no way that I would buy a device that isn't an EV-DO device.
Meh, PDAs went out of style a few years back.. adding a phone to it doesnt really add any appeal.. maybe, if you're an iChimp.
iphone guy: So what's your number sexy?
iphone guy: oh #$%& my battery just died! Please for the love of god does anyone have a charger?! No...? Damn.
Me: So what's your number sexy?
Me: Oh darn my battery just died. Hold on let me put in a new one.
Besides poor iphone guy couldn't possibly even dream of buying her a drink anyhow, he has that nasty expensive data plan to worry about, not to mention spending this month's pay check on a phone. Poor guy.
"Yeah, you keep telling yourself that.

what a wanker
lol... I love this kind of humor. It reminds me of sitting at the lunch table in high school. You should be a comedian!
Don't hate just cause you can't afford one. Personally, I'm selling my left nut to get one.

Why the iphone is overhyped and why the Nokia N95 is better. The iphone has a 2mega pixel camera. N95 has 5 mega pixels. iphone has google maps for navaigation big whoop. N95 has a GPS and can be installed with google maps. The N95 films in dvd like quality the iphone does that even shot video. The iphone is locked to At&t who will overcharge you on your bill the N95 is unlocked and can be used with anyone. The N95 uses a open source operating system which means you can install tons of applications. The iphone will be controlled by apple which means everything must go to them. Lastly its a touch screen which means if you drop it your screwed. For all you mac boys have fun paying $600 dollars for a device which really does nothing but sync with your mac. Your better getting a Razor and an ipod.
And the Nokia is also twice as thick, with a smaller screen (2.6" vs 3.5"), lower screen resolution (240x320 vs. 320x480), shorter battery life (4hrs vs. 5 hrs), and limited to 2GB of storage at a time.
I will, have fun with your kludetastic interface.
Pray tell which open source OS Nokia uses ??
Let me clarify that being an owner of MANY Nokia Series 60 phones over the last few years, I am looking forward to the iPhone for ease of use and top quality software unlike the slow coaches with hampered interfaces that I have gotten used to.
Only nerds and geeks carry around multiple batteries
$600 is a month's pay for you? damn, chief! where ya workin'? part time at Mickey D's?
Most people (consumers) don't happen to carry external batteries around in their wallet/handbag/pocket. Either/or, if you're in THAT situation, unless you're a complete nerd then you aren't gonna be better off with an non-iPhone.
on the other hand, if your battery dies...
PS. I'm in Australia. Looking forward to iPhone. Will buy one if they come out pre-paid.
half of hate is jealousy.
yes, you can get more features in some other phones for a similar pricepoint. so what? a boatload of features doesn't make a phone, or any other product, better.
that's like saying that a Milli Vanilli record with 20 songs on it is better than The Beatle's "Sgt. Peppers" or Dylan's "Blonde on Blonde" are with 13 songs on them.
More doesn't mean better. It is SOMETIMES better, but doesn't guarantee better.
i'll take a few fewer features and a higher price point in favor of elegance of design, integration and polish any day.
its like democrats vs. republicans except i cant say which is which.
the iphone will do well, actually get a good competition going on
with the rest of the world, personally i wont get it, 3g is kind of a
must nowadays, but and ipod is better, who gives a rats ass about 3rd
party apps it has enough shit already, and if you have att ure gonna
end up paying more than 1200 a month which is a fact since i have the
current data plans with an ok amount of minutes the lowest plan u can
get is 40 a month plus another 45 is 85 plus tax 911 etc. they got u
for a bill a month, but im glad apple is coming out with this its
actually really good for the market it makes windows step it up a
notch, i wont be getting it because i cant part with my treo but for
the rest of you let me borrow it !
Wow, if I wanted to pay $600 for an overhhyped, easily dirtied, device I didn't need, I'd buy a PS3. At least I can use it with my friends.
To Dragod:
Or you could buy an expensive blow-up doll too. It's easily dirtied and you could use it with your friends! :D
Pretty neat but it sucks major ass how it's just for AT&T.
Probably more useful too! lol
This will be fun to play with at the Apple Store, at least. You know the people slamming it are going ot be there with their grubby little hands all over it. It's a great looking gadget, just not worth actually paying for as far as I can see.
which of the commercials was shown on 60 minutes?
the iphone may be a neat gadget for a few fanboys that are on there favorite tech news site hours after its release date is announced. but for the average consumer the real question is does the price tag justify its features. this phone it going after the wallet of a business smartphone user with the features of a mp3 phone. *BOOM* did i just hear an iphone battery iexplode? i think so!
People keep talking about how great their Nokia or Samsung phone is compared with iPhone, but everyone knows as well as I do that there is no comparison. It doesn't matter if your phone got GPS or 3G, it hasn't gotten the freaking widescreen video iPod. Maybe you guys should start asking your parents for an iPhone for this Christmas if you can't afford one.
I want my iPhone now.
wonder if the iphone is VOIP capable they say 2008-2009 the year VOIP takes over cell phone networks.
jumping from cell network to WIFI
FOLKS! All I'm gonna say is "YOU ANT SEEN NOTHING YET!" That ad was less than a 10th of what it will do. Trust me ;^)...
AINT
Don't you mean who isn't? ;)
Funny thing is, the iPhone will sell more in 2 weeks than the Zune has sold to date!! How would all you "softies" spin that. Last time I checked the iPhone is also a 1st gen device. Suck it! I'm getting 2!
I can't stop watching the adds!! I'm SO excited that we finally got a date!!!
Does anyone know if we'll be able to use our existing Yahoo email accounts with the free IMAP push Yahoo feature? It would suck to have to start over?
Thunk: Middle ad on Apple site was shown during 60 Minutes. The first ad was shown during Lost Without A Trace.
Hey everyone- I posted it on the post that came after this, but I think readers here should know about my "insider tip."
"According to an Apple employee- they personally recommended to wait 60-90 days before you get an iPhone. The reason? They had to ramp up production for the launch, so there could be glitches, for example, with battery life. My source said if we don't want to wait, we should definitely get the extended warranty."
