Tivoli's crystal encrusted Model One
Tivoli, well known for its iconic Model One table radio, has commissioned Scandinavian designer Per Sundberg to re-envision its simple radio design -- and boy has he come up with a winner. For the extremely affordable price of 39,000 SEK (or about $5,866), you can buy one of these limited edition little radios covered in handcrafted crystal. Of course, the Model One normally sells for $119, but it's not like you're investing in just any old tuner -- this one gets AM and FM stations.

I thought this was a toolbox.

What's all that money for?
This is some fugly, and worthless, P.O.S.
Unbelievable. The lengths that some companies will go to just to make more money. Shameless.
companies will typically only make things idiots are willing to buy.
Not for nothing, I wouldn't say that's "encrusted", maybe "ensconced"? Perhaps "enclosed"?
My nan would have killed for that, It'ed go just right next to her glass rose bowel and lead crystal decanter. But if you have any style, ow boy ow boy this could ruin your chances of impressing anybody, lead crystal went out a long time ago no mater what's inside it. Funniest thing I've seen for ages.
They should round up all the people that will buy things like this, or the gold plated shuffle, or the diamond encrusted iPods -
and take away all their possessions & money & put them in labor camps.
Someone should round up all these people and make a list of paying customers out of them!
Don't be so bummed out, there's more money out there than anyone needs. Thankfully, because of capitalism, all you have to do is make something equally as stupid yourself and you can funnel their "chump change" into your "retirement savings"
Hey, I love my Tivoli-- use it almost daily. I gotta admit, if it was not a present I would have never in my life have purchased one, but it was quite a surprise.
Manufacturers often make items like this to get free publicity, not because they think they will sell a lot of these. Think of various other diamond encrusted electronics etc.... And I'm sure some people after seeing this will go check out their regular models.
This looks like something you would only find in the home of some kind of prince or king. Per Sundberg is targetting a pretty small market.

Correct-a-mundo. Think, when was the last time you read an article about someone actually BUYING something like this?
