GameBoy drum machine hack
The underground scene of game-created music is really thriving, with the latest example to emerge from under the radar being a drum machine hack for a GameBoy. A bright yellow GameBoy, 1MB of flash memory, a serial interface, and a custom ROM is all that's needed to put out some beats: with a little help from some solenoids and flat surfaces, of course. Putting it all together is the hard part, and half the fun we suspect.

Modding community FTW!
I love seeing these types of mods, especially the ones that are using older hardware for something completely new and original. This almost makes me want to drive on down to the local EB to pick up and old Gameboy Color (I wonder my grey brick one is) and start trying to work a hack like this myself.

i can already tell the forward/back keys are in an annoying position. you'll have to move your index finger to use them. my current logitech mouse has buttons in this position, and i don't like them at all... why didn't logitech just use the traditional thumb buttons?
