Rock Band now available for pre-order

While prices and release dates for Rock Band have been floating for a while now, it looks like things may have finally settled down, with the entire kit now available for pre-order at a couple of retailers. If you're ready to go all out, you can snag a bundle for either the 360 or PS3 that includes the game, guitar, microphone, and drum set for $199, although you'll still have to wait until November 20th to actually get it. The whole lot is also available individually, with the game running $60, the microphone $30, and the drum set $80. Somewhat curiously, the 360 version of the wireless guitar is listed at $80 on both Amazon and GameStop, while the PS3 version only costs $50, although GameStop still says that the prices are "subject to change."

Pretty good price. I'll probably pick it up for PS3
thrillho @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:15PM
its coming out on wii in early 2008
we get gh3 the same as everyone else, though.
Alex Yee @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:41PM
GH3 and Rockband are different games. GH1 was developed by Harmonix (They made the PS2 rhythm games 'frequency' and 'amplitude'). They sold it to Activision so GH2 and GH3 are Activision. Rockband is made by Harmonix.

I know, but at least Wii owners can get their music game on with GH3, you can only play donkey konga 1 and 2 so much...

The differences in the prices for the 360/PS3 version are probably because the PS3 uses the cheaper Bluetooth while the 360 uses Microsoft's proprietary wireless standard.
tehpwnmstr @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:17PM
as far as the 10$ price difference goes, thats prolly cause microsort uses propriestary wireless, and requires liscensing fees, while the ps3 is blutooth. im going to get the 200$ version anyway, cause i want an extra guitar so i can use it for guitar and the x-plorer from Gh2 for bass. then i will be the envy of all at my work christmas party!
tehpwnmstr @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:19PM
looks like someone else beat me to it. oh and it looks like its 30$ difference not ten. ouch.
longhairbilly @ Jul 23rd 2007 5:55PM
Give me the wireless guitar bundle and I'll pre-order right now.
Alex Yee @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:39PM
I swear I read there was going to be a keyboard is there?
Rock Stone @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:45PM
Could just be a typo... but why does the Amazon description state the $199 kit includes a 'wired' guitar??? Is this possible?
Product Features
* Includes software, wired guitar, drums, mic
Rock Stone @ Jul 23rd 2007 6:49PM
Clarification: the Xbox 360 bundle states wired, the Sony PS3 bundle states wireless

anyone importing it?
or anyone know any release dates for uk?
zozart @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:36PM
Oh, just to add. I've noticed Rock Band has cropped up on Play-asia for £30; US, no reigion protection. http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-ej-49-en-70-23dw.html
No sign of the accessories though. Fingers crossed!
zozart @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:33PM
Oh god. This is going to be so expensive in the UK. GH2 alone cost £70. This'll cost.. £150? £170?
I may seriously consider buying the game here and the accessories from the US.
nickels @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:41PM
ill still get it though :) looks awesome
plus i thought 360 was region locked?
zozart @ Jul 23rd 2007 7:44PM
Some games (like, according to Play-asia, Rock Band) are region-free, so they'll play on any 360.
I don't think the accessories would be region-locked, so I'd hope that american accessories would work fine. No doubt they will be cheaper. Heck, 6 months on and we still can't even buy a 360 guitar on its own.
Jeff Stoelker @ Jul 24th 2007 12:38AM
u noob ps3 is only good for the blu-ray player.
live in the now like the rest of the hardcore gamers
and get a 360
landofbob @ Jul 24th 2007 7:58AM
It is going to be interesting when these end up in the accessory bin for $3.99 in 4 years.
