(PRODUCT) RED iPod shuffle coming on the 5th?
AppleInsider totally called it last time with the Oprah-launched (PRODUCT) RED iPod nano, so we're inclined to believe that they may have the inside line on Bono's latest attempt to cozy up with the Jobsian Empire, in the form of a signature-red shuffle refresh purportedly being announced at the upcoming "Beat Goes On" event. For those of you tracking these sort of things, this (PRODUCT) RED shuffle claim follows the nano Phatty, iPod Touch, Beatles on iTunes, and portable Coverflow rumors on the list of possible announcements to be made on September 5th at the Moscone Center -- among many others that we probably haven't picked up on. Okay, back to your regular programming, but don't get too comfy, because the next 'inside scoop' could be just minutes away...[Image courtesy of AppleInsider, thanks jungzandvliet]

A little birdie mentioned something about a Yellow Submarine iPod to go along with that Beatles music.
Approximate cost to be 0.5 Alex ($349).

I just cant understand why apple could not release a black shuffle, it almost pisses me off, the colour range should be the same as the nano ones as im sure it uses the same material. sigh

off topic but I once red (haha) that more has been spent on marketing and advertising (product)red than has actually been donated as a result of purchases of (product)red products.

-sigh- I don't see whats so good about those outdated oldie has-beens, the Beatles, anyway.

I second that...

A press conference to announce a COLOUR!! The Apple hype machine is a marvel of modern science. Seriously, the reality distortion effect needs to be studied. RIDICULOUS!!
Don't get me wrong, I like the iPod. The competition is getting close, but so far noone has done it better. Having said that.....if there aren't widescreen, iTouch® iPods announced I will be quite disappointed.
darklord @ Aug 29th 2007 4:14PM
Why the hell would Apple have a special event to announce a new COLOR for a Shuffle? If they don't release new Touch iPods or even fat Nanoes, at an event named, "The Beat Goes On", I will be very pissed.
V E R Y P I S S E D !

I seriously hope they're not going with the name "phatty". They need to pull an urban dictionary before rolling that one out... no pun intended.

Sure, it could be a freakin RED nano, but we think it's a new smaller version of the iPhone from what our source told us last week. http://morningpaper.typepad.com/morning_paper/2007/08/scaled-down-iph.html
Could be wrong, but a Red iPhone party doesn't seem likely.

Something tells me I'm into something good.

Does it have anything to do with Vodafone?
simon @ Aug 29th 2007 7:42PM
Its just my opinion, but I dont really get the whole (product red) line... The credit card makes a lot of sense, but why dont the companies just donate instead of selling something and giving the profit away, they get to write off charitable donations anyways. At least thats my understanding.
Warwick @ Aug 30th 2007 12:26AM
I bought a productRED 4GB nano. Not because I care about AIDS, but because it was the only decent color in the line up. A wider color range would not hurt the nano range.
Brian @ Aug 29th 2007 9:44PM
I'm still waiting for the orange iPod Nano
and LOL at Donald.
Mike Salem @ Aug 30th 2007 12:12AM
wow there's not already a red one of these?
that reminds me how little i care
o rly @ Aug 30th 2007 12:14AM
(PRODUCT) RED is a fallacy of a campaign that tricks the gullible into thinking their purchase will do a vast amount of aid to the less fortunate, when all they've done is help line the pockets of corporations.
Don't be fooled by it. Donate directly; rather than having a supposed 0.02% of your purchase go to the cause.
