Speecys SPC-101C laughs, can never feel
We spotted the SPC-101C face-recognizing bot from Speecys a couple weeks ago, but what we didn't know is that under that cold hard exterior is the ability to emulate joy with cold hard precision. Check out the video after the break. We've included video of a laughing Elmo as well for creep-o comparison -- we don't think SPC-101C even comes close, but you're always entitled to your own opinion.

The Elmo video was disturbing. I loved it.
Not only can it laugh, Speecys can ROFLMAO.
The funny part for me was when that crazy guy bitched about it in the comments.
Whats with the Elmo video ????
What comparison was the author trying to suggest ?
I don't see the fun in burning a children's toy .
Usually the columns are fun + knowledgeble + informative .
that video was none of the above
Well the funny part for me on the elmo video would be the fact that he keeps the same facial expression while hes being covered in a carpet of flames...... hes practicly smiling.
IE- who would smile whilst being burnt alive?
Well, the funny part for me was.....YOU'RE STUPID!!
Hand .... salute!
Saw this 2 weeks ago at the World Science fiction Convention in Yokohama.
Didn't do all that well of a job picking out my face but walked better than that Chorino I saw there.
If it can't hug me when I'm down then its a deal breaker.
my girfriend wants to know if his arms vibrate?
Does this guy get his morning fix from the Internet-enabled coffee maker?
Looks like a LoveBot in the making to me
Elmo video = further proof that Terminator was actually a documentary
Is he house trained, or dose he leave little batteries laying around?
The Elmo video is like the movie "AI".
many years following the extermination of humans, the robots will open a historical museum and show that 2nd video and how were used to burn their babies..
:-D
I've seen that Elmo video before, and it continues to live in my nightmares.
Thanks Engadget, thanks a heap.
