Deluo stuffs GPS receiver into travel mouse
We've seen some pretty portable GPS receivers in our day, but Deluo's latest manages to perform double duty as a mousing device while still maintaining a small footprint. The MouseGPS sure isn't sexy, but it does boast all the basics and includes a retractable USB cable for good measure. Reportedly, users can just flip a switch on its underside to activate the internal GPS module, and just in case you're currently going without any type of mapping software, Deluo is offering the $99.95 critter up with Microsoft Streets and Trips 2008 for an extra $29.95 if you so choose. According to Amazon, expect this to ship "in four to six weeks."[Via SlipperyBrick]

I tried one of these at hone and all it showed was that I moved my arm around a roughly 14-inch area on my desk!
Big deal!
Not quite funny, especially since GPS resolution is about 3 feet.
Can't blame a boy for tryin'. :(
omg how did you guy's find me?
I believe the concept here is a dual purpose device, the mouse can be used for either one of two things- A GPS receiver or a human interface device; No for tracking your hand movements. Having combined both in to one, just means one less thing you will need to carry around with you.
Interesting concept. The only way I see this as useful is that it cuts another item out of my laptop bag. So that instead of carrying a mouse and a GPS receiver I just need to carry one device.
But using the mouse while the GPS receiver on seems kinda awkward. If you have ever attempted to use a mouse in your car then you know its not the easiest thing to do.
I dont think you're supposed to use the mouse in the car with the gps....the reciever can just as easily connect to your smartphone...enabling you to thoretically toss the mouse in your laptop bag ( assuming you keep one with you ) and having two ways to connect to gps via laptop and smartphone...the gps reciever probably doesn't require you to actually USE the mouse to be effective....I find this a highly useful tool regardless of its asthetics ....every new piece of tech need not be stunningly gorgeous as that is not a good indication that it works!
I did not think that most smartphones had USB host capabilities. I could be wrong but usually you have to either get a phone specific adapter or have a bluetooth GPS device.
Who uses a mouse when in the car??? Trackpad in the car - throw the mouse up on the dash. I think this would be better if it was wireless, though. Bluetooth even better.
Paul...you are correct...I mistakenly assumed this was bluetooth ready...would be nice if so
Fewer and fewer airlines allow people to use GPS's in flight. And that is where it might be particularly useful. Use it in a window seat and have a covert GPS to tell you the latest travel statistics.
You are a little confuse guys, this is a mouse and a GPS but not both at the same time. It has a little swith on the bottom that allows you to switch between both of them. When you are traveling you do not need a mouse, only a GPS, when you are working with a laptop in your office, house, etc, you don't need to know your location, you already know where you are (unless you spend too much time in front of your computer and lose your connection with reality but then a GPS will do you no good either lol ) The cool thing about this little device is that it saves you space if you are a frequent traveller and if you are note you will not need to remember to carry your GPS as you already have one in your mouse, cool!
Sure hope it's smaller than the dimensions shown on Amazon: 7" x 2.5" x 10.5". Even if it is just the box that's still a big box.
