HP's iPAQ 110 and 210 delayed?
If you were waiting patiently for HP's iPAQ 110 and 210 models that were due for release earlier this month, you may already know that you're out of luck. jkOnTheRun pieced together a few reader reports and discovered that HP's official site for the 210 now features the text "Coming in 2008!" That's a shame, since the last we heard these two PDAs should have been shipping by the 8th of this month. Anyone else had their order canceled? If so, HP's got some 'splainin' to do.Read - New HP iPAQ 110, 210 delayed? (jkOnTheRun)

The new iPAQ phones are also now boasting about being due in 2008. So much for 30, 60 and 90 days from the HP Expo.
I'm really holding out for a shiny new iPAQ 612c!

What could take till 2008 to fit onto any of these?
Wi-Max? Cellular? WM7!?
I'd like to know what HPs doing.
Well the X51v keeps its crown until then...

It seems somewhat obvious what HP is up to. There was the initial pricing that seemed reasonable, ($199 for the 110 and $299 for the $210). Later articles shortly afterwards raised both prices by $110. Possibly the pent up demand for a new PDA versus yet another so-called smart phone that manufacturers feel everyone wants, made HP's marketing feel they could justify the "new" , higher prices.
Then came Apple's decision to drop the price of their grossly over priced iPhone. This placed HP's PDA/phone's price in jeopardy. If HP wakes up, has a more realistic price for their PDAs, there is a good chance they could take a decent market share. After all not everyone wants or needs a "smart phone", especially one that is locked into a communication monopoly giant.
By holding off for now, then later releasing the units, HP may announce a ‘price cut’ across the board for their PDAs – if not, I still have my antique Toshiba, that still works well, and there is a large market of used PDAs that still will do the job.

Lew, you're mistaken. These units were never priced at $199 and $299. They were originally reported as $299 and $449, though the latter was later marked at $399.
Lew @ Oct 22nd 2007 9:09PM
Sorry you feel this is incorrect, but I did read this on a very early review of the units. I will endeavor to locate the original review that stated the prices, but I am positive of the figures. Also, why are you rising to HP's defense of their pricing?
Lew @ Oct 22nd 2007 9:18PM
Adama, I understand you 'review' for "Brighthand", but there are other sites worth visiting. The one that quoted the prices is; http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/09/05/Ipaqs_1.html.

HP totally blew the 6900 series by announcing it early and releasing it late, seems they are going to do it again with these models.

I had my order canceled. First they sent me an email saying it had been delayed. Then later they called on the number I had provided to say it was a "web" error and there is no confirmed date yet. After I showed some anger, they offered to give me a $50 credit if I bought another pda from them and sent me an email promptly, which is useless cuz I can simply get a 10% student discount and those pda's are anyway around 15-20% cheaper at buy.com, plus HP charges tax now. So go get your credit :)

oh my how unexpected!

Been waiting and watching for these to ship, and it's een sad to see them delayed till next year. My gf was hoping to get one for college to keep track of all her classes, and looks like she will have to find another alternative. I wonder why HP would do this, did they have second thoughts about releasing new PDA's?
petert @ Oct 22nd 2007 9:25PM
Eh, both devices are rather unimpressive. I've had my HX4700 for three years. Wonderful unit (except for the pad). Just flashed it with a fantastic WM6 port. Revitalized the unit. Still loving it. Cost? free.
If you buy an old 4700 off ebay and due this? average cost about $250.
So big deal, no BT2.0
I just don't see the value in this new unit except for the native WM6 build, which I already have 99% of.

It's not just a rehash of the 47xx:
* The 624MHz processor is a different processor that will likely perform a little better.
* There is a graphics co-processor/support which should improve VGA performance.
* This device is supposed to have 128MB RAM rather than the 64MB RAM in 47xx or the Axim x series.
* For those that didn't like it - this device has gotten rid of the touchpad and gone back to the traditional D-Pad.
* The battery in this unit appears to be 2200mAh vs 1800mAh in the hx47xx.
* The display supports 260K colors versus the 64K color depth on the hx47xx.
* Built-in flash storage is 256MB vs 128MB on the hx47xx
* WiFi now supports B/G as opposed to just B on the 47xx
* There's now support for mini-USB (don't know if it's host)
* This device supports SDHC (much larger SD cards)
I would say that means this device is more than a little bit improved over the 47xx.

i really wanted this PDA but when i saw a video review of it i was turned off by its size. Maybe there is a market for something so thick out there but I would love to see something like this in ipod touch form factor. i dont own anything from apple and probably never will.
Hal @ Oct 23rd 2007 10:17PM
What does it matter - it has to run on Microsoft crap and once loaded it nothing more then a over priced brick. I wish I could take the travel mate PDA I bought and give it back.....
jelira @ Jan 17th 2008 6:12PM
The IPAQ 2210 is on sale again, the estimated date for shipping is 01/19/2008.
