While it's typically far too easy to bash on a new head-mounted display due to its unsightly design, we'll restrain ourselves when talking about the LV920. Vuzix, which veterans may remember as
Icuiti, has introduced a new HMD that is tailored specifically for individuals with macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa and other low vision problems. Apparently, preclinical trials have shown promising results, and the firm is aiming to ship 'em out en masse sometime this quarter. Vuzix claims that the eyewear will improve vision when reading and boost color perception, but we'd be tempted to wait for a third party confirmation (or denial) before throwing down on something like this.

I, for one, had no problem with Ryan's Zune Review. Seemed honest and thought out.

Its concept is almost flawless to me. You cant really (virtual boy) ruin your eyesight if its already toast.
This would be killer for the guy at my liberty who touches his nose to the screen to surf the web, he is too blind to manipulate "magnifier".

Oh WOW! I use a JORDY and this look great, its smaller and probably lighter then the JORDY, and it probably has more advanced electronics and a better camera, and displays then the JORDY.
Wonder if will be cheaper then the JORDY's $3500 price tag? :)
robogeek @ Nov 14th 2007 8:12PM
My wife agrees. She has a Jordy and likes it but says it becomes uncomfortable after a short time due to the weight in the front.

The LHOB were used as a beta site, The light house of broward a NFP in broward FL, We had several users try this thing out and Ill say that I used it also. IT defiantly has its pluses but I don't think its going to ba as usable as they hope. The primary drawback is that everyone has different eye movement patterns, this unit uses a mechanism that actually tracks the eye and adjust the focus accordingly. this was a big issue with some of our older folks with stargarts and MD
