The "999,999,999 in 1 Super Game" system
We have no idea if this thing is real, but if it is you can probably expect to pick one up from nondescript street markets across China. With a claim to fame of one less than a billion games included, the "999999999 in 1 Super Game" should give the "big three" consoles a run for their money.

I've seen similar type systems that play old school NES games. Typically, It's about 50-100 unique games, with a bunch of repeats listed under slightly different names. But if it's cheap, might be a good stocking stuffer for the kids.
you sir, bought your kids mega blocks didnt you
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA amazing lmfao haa
Big whoop. I mean, PlayStation 3 has a billion games too, right?
@ Brad, he also probably bought GOBOTS and Matchbox
I LIKED Gobots... well, the cartoon at least. :(
Gobots had Japanese toy robots that were very high quality. They were much bigger than the regular go-bots (the same difference as the big and small Transformers probably) and were mostly metal, if not all. The quality was even better than the Transformers, even if the designs weren't as cool. I think they were called super Gobots, or something.
what's wrong with matchbox? O_o is that a bite off of something? i dont think you understood...
But does it play ARR MEDIA?
Oh well. If it had included a billion games I would have bought one. But only 999,999,999? I'll take my business elsewhere.
these things are out there for like 10-15 years :P
more like 5-10 year olds nowadays.
I believe MK is referring to how long they have existed, not their target market.
yeah thats what i meant
this is china's feable attempt to take over the world
Your feeble attempt at spelling.
Coming from a guy who has a name "sonick", that's quite ironic.
You misspelt "suck".
I misspelt "Horace". Badly.
not rly
feeble troll attempt lulz
The ownage here is outta control!
Looks like I'm going to have to buy a plane ticket to China!
-- shame on who ever buys one of these lol
I wonder how much lead is in this console.
Here in the states that "realistic" looking gun would get banned before the 999,999,999 pirated games.
I have a similiar Famiclone that has a black light gun, no red tip. Pointing one of them at a cop would make him/her fill their drawers much quicker than that blue one.
Sometimes I wish these Famiclone pirates would get the multi-carts right. Instead of hacked ROMs of existing games, + repeated level games, just outright put a hundred or so unique games on them. They aren't legal any way, so why half-ass your attempt at game piracy? But whole Virtual Console collections on 'em!
More like pointing one at a cop would get you shot.
Well, you see, in America, kids are DUMB. So they get SHOT. That's their own damn fault. (And their parents, too)
The cops are our friends. They will be yours when you get mugged, too.
999,999,999 to 1 chance that this will beat out the big 3?
You mean 1 to 999999999?
Yes...I'm not thinking today that much. I'm not in school right now.
The games are very likely all crap, but I still wonder how they managed to get enough "games" to call it one off of a billion? A few hundred million tetris/pacman variants?
More than likely, yes. Cheap clones, probably jsut reusing sprites and shifting the color pallette a bit.
How many versions of "Tetris" can there be?
lol. you obviously didn't play any of those crap before.
there are at least more than 100 versions, probably between 100 and 1000.
here are some variation: different background, different brick, different dificulty, differnt producers.
lets say we have 5 in each variable: that's 5x5x5x5 = 625, and this is the minimal estimate.
So what's the point of having a cartridge-based console if there's only one cartridge that works on the system?
Next year they're selling the expansion cartridge that then gives you ability to plan 1 BILLION games.
Only $19.99 if you act now!
hmm....we used to hav such crap systems here in India abt 10 to 15 years ago offcourse "made in china" only & they were called "Terminator" for some 800 Rs. thats around 20 USD !!!
meh, i used to own one of this.
i tell you what i saw: 1 single game can have like 5-20 version. for example:there are could be more than 100 mind sweeper games, only slightly different backgrounds.
so, i say, 999 million games can only mean 100-1000 unique games, everything else is replica of the original game.
hmmm, I see no variation in this comment. I reckon it's not two comments, but one.
And scooter gets the prize for the most amazing display of stating the obvious.....
I do believe Scooter's comment was aimed at the irony of a double post considering the original poster's statement.
meh, i used to own one of this.

right, it's like comcast claiming they have 1000 HD channels because every movie and episode of a TV series you can get on demand is somehow a channel.
999,999,999 games and it still has a game cartridge? WTH
Who needs halo when you've got a billion games!? Too bad they're missing one.
hmmm interesting
8bit games...but interesting
haha... opposite of the PS3
1 game in 999999999 SKU's
YES! Thanks Engadget! I tipped them on it!
fail
Is that mario i see on the cartridge?
They ran out of space for ten digits on the cartridge sticker, so had to make do with one less.
But does it play Doom?
yes. and the 999 doom knock offs.
Doom is the secret one-billionth game.
Awesome! It comes with a 1970's era squirt-gun!
These things are hilarious. Did anyone else contemplate for a moment if there have even been 999,999,999 games made in the history of gaming?
Yeah, and they're all on this. Honestly, you guys are soooo cynical!
Well, there have now.
pretty funny
IT's OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!
It's about time someone made that reference.
Think about the amount of memory this thing would need to hold that many games. Even if each game were only 1 byte:
1 byte x 999,999,999 games = ~1 GB
So assuming a pretty lousy average of 32k (32,768 bytes) per game:
32,768 bytes x 999,999,999 games = ~32 TB
32 Terrabytes! I'd hate to see the wholesale price on that puppy. ;)
Heh, after I posted I did the math as well. That cartridge must have some amazing areal density ;)
You might be able to store more than 1 game per byte. For instance, let's say there's a Final Fantasy game taking up 1 megabyte. Then you have options, like: how strong are the fighters? (How strong/agile/etc. are the other classes?) How strong are the enemies? How frequent are the random encounters? If you have 10 different settings for each option, and 100 options, that would give you 10^100 different "games" even if they are each almost identical. This same approach could be used for any genre of game. Change the speed at which the game takes place, the locations of enemies, etc. I'll bet that's how they make their claimed 1 billion games. That, and a great deal of stolen intellectual property!
Yeah, but I can't see each setting taking up less than a byte.
pointers, baby
This reminds of the n64
SMH @ another China company setting themselves up for another L
At most it could be hundreds or even thousands of games w/this console... but not 999,999,999. Watch someone buy this and cry about false advertising since they only got 577,832 games XD
I betch'a there are 100 games in a million colors each...
I prefer the pink one

I find it hilarious that the "Hot Items" list is topped by "Adult Snorkel".
meh
This is just an NES clone (actually a Famicom clone). The games are probably all pirated ROMs which have been hacked to have lots of variations. That's why you see Mario on the cartridge (which also looks just like a Famicom one). The gun-looking thing is the Zapper.
I honestly can't understand why this is news, they've been doing these things for the last 15 years.
I think I see a picture of an older version of madden football on the cartridge
its Saturday. thats why. we are taking anything we can get.
LMAO One of it's "Features" is "4)Without copyright problem" You can get it with your company logo too...
sale is a sale no matter any third world country it sells to it is still "sales".. and boy you'd be surprise how much sales this guys are making from third world countries. FYI really poor people enjoy this kind of games just as much you enjoy your ps3, the only thing on this one is that they have a billion selections vs your less than 30 ps3 good titles.
The 999,999,999 includes all of the levels in all the games it has. It really has like 100 games. I saw a booth at a mall yesterday and asked the seller.
I'm going to buy one of these and stuff it in my empty wii box and give it to my idiot brother-in-law
I would laugh but that seems soooooo cruel, even if he is a massive idiot.
This reminds me of the FunStation I saw in Nicaragua a few years ago. The logo was the old playstation logo, with part of the P removed to make it an F. Looking back, I wish I'd bought it, just because it was so funny. Had a picture of a PS on the front, with a giant picture of Mario on the back.
Not to long ago, I saw a FS 3 somewhere, which is pretty much the same idea (the FS3 looks like it takes a Nintendo 64 cartridge)
Does it include crysis?
we bought one exactly like this in a toy store here in israel. it broke after 20 minutes.
you people don't get it.
this is not a system designed for export. this is a system designed for families that make $100 a month that can't afford to buy a $500 PS3 for their families.
Can it play doom?
already been said. dammit. and yes it can.
These things aren't that bad, used to have a similar thing where it had 100 or so games on a cartridge. Who is going to turn down the chance to play Contra on one of these?
so basically if that doesn't take over the game console world.. the expression 'Video games sell consoles' is not true lol..
This is MUCH better. http://www.chinawholesalegift.com/Electric-Gifts/Games/keyboard-game/Keyboard-game-161942296.htm
Props to whoever can tell me WTF this is.
idiot, it's a knock off of the iphone...
No, I'm kidding. I'm pretty sure I have something like this. It's a keyboard that has slots for game cartridges and the controllers. You can also use it as an everyday keyboard. I'm not sure if it's exactly like that but the one I have is like it.
also, I bought it in Shanghai and it came with a pirated mario cartridge and a pirated zelda. The cartridges on mine look like DS cartridges.
don't you see it? it is a keyboard with dangly things that resemble ps1-style controller rip-offs...
duh
An Amiga 500!
amiga?!?!!? WTF
When I was a kid I remember they had the 99 in 1 for my game boy.
good ol' days, eh?
It really is amazing how many /b/tards a number like 999,999,999 can bring out on a website like engadet.
(if this makes no sense to you, ignore it(probably a good thing))
in b4 rules 1 & 2, gtfo, etc....
...None?
I see no >9000's, battletoads, etc. Did you just learn what 4chan is?
/b/rothers! Save the bickering for 4chan.
Also, I've heard arguments on the application of rules 1 and 2. Personally I agree with those who feel they only apply to raids and attacks. Others feel they are complete jokes and others feel they require the strictest obedience.
Sure, it plays doom, but...
Does it blend?
Guitar hero blends, so woudn't this cruddy thing blend?!!?!? Go to joystiq if I sound confusing.=) funny vid man
