Microsoft's Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel now $99
Time's running out, folks, and if you've got an Xbox 360 gamer in your life that you've vowed to spend a C-note on (and nothing more, tax notwithstanding), here's a bright idea. Microsoft has just cut the price of its Xbox 360 Wireless Racing Wheel by $30 to a manageable $99, and it also comes bundled with a driver disc and a demo of Forza Motorsport 2. So, what are you waitin' on? No, really, what's the holdup?

I want one. I love playing FM2, but using a regular control kinda sucks.

must...resist...spending...more...money...
Yubastard @ Dec 20th 2007 9:43PM
yeah, me too, but I wonder if it comes already fixed?
$99 for a wheel and pedals ain't bad, cheap and inaccurate as it may be.
James @ Dec 20th 2007 10:27PM
Must.. spend.. money.. on gamess...
too... many... coming.. out... at once...
Dylan K @ Dec 20th 2007 2:33PM
Would be a bit nicer if it came with the actual game, not just a demo.
Chroma @ Dec 20th 2007 3:32PM
They used to come with PGR 3, as mine did when I bought it about 2-3 months ago.
Then again, it cost me $130.

Chaj @ Dec 20th 2007 2:53PM
With no strings attached since it's wireless
Technex @ Dec 20th 2007 2:52PM
That's actually a pretty decent deal, I don't own a 360 myself nor am I into racing games any more but it looks like it's good quality, and it comes with a game...
The R. @ Dec 20th 2007 2:59PM
it just sucks that it doesnt have force feedback!
Kevin Mogee @ Dec 20th 2007 3:10PM
I think it does have force feedback. At least everything I've read indicates that it does. There was even one review that mentioned the need for an AC adapter for the force feedback to work.
Bob Sintas @ Dec 20th 2007 3:06PM
Where did you get that it says that it doesn't have force feedback? According to TFA it says: "including full force feedback support."
ross @ Dec 20th 2007 5:17PM
It does have force feedback

I got one a while back... shortly after they started burning out. so the recall was on. I faxed in the sheet, literally a month later I got a letter saying they were going to ship a carton to send it back in. After only two short months of waiting, an empty box with no instructions shows up -just a return label. I send it in, three days later, a new wheel arrives. Quick turn-around, once they get it - it's the 3 months of waiting to get to that point that blows. Also, for being wireless, there sure are a lot of wires. It's wireless to the console, but there is a power cable to the wall to make the rumble/feedback work and then there's the cable from the wheel to the pedals... At least mine came with Project Gotham 3...
LiqwidZero @ Dec 20th 2007 3:24PM
Nice! I'll pick this up sometime in January.

What am I waiting for? Gran Turismo 5 and a Playstation 3. Forza sucks, best racing sim on the Xbox is still Sega GT 2002.
RyanTV @ Dec 20th 2007 3:29PM
this is where the pricepoint should have been in the first place. if it werent so much clutter i might pick one up.
bo sneb @ Dec 20th 2007 3:33PM
bah it's still worthless! wouldn't pay more than 30bucks for it.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 20th 2007 4:00PM
It's still crap.
It is not quality, it doesn't work well, it's sloppy and unreliable.

good review. microsoft should not be shoving their lackluster peripherals down our throats by keeping decent products out of the 360 lineup. i took a chance on the wheel cause it was the only wheel with force feedback on the 360. thoroughly disappointing. aside from the rather weak force feedback, it has no frills, and the only game it feels somewhat decent with is forza. pgr, nfs, and dirt are all better played on a controller. the old fanatec for xbox at least had programming in the wheel itself so you could tune it for games that weren't programmed with it in mind. then on top of that i went thru 4 of these crappy steering wheels, not one of which centered correctly. and there's no calibration software! microsoft obviously has no idea how to make a decent steering wheel. they should leave it to logitech. so instead of spending 300bucks once on a logitech G25 for use with forza, i had to spend 430 plus tax on two steering wheels and the bitter taste this one left in my mouth. it killed my interest in the forza franchize. great job microsoft!

Still no PS3 wheel (under $275)?
SimbaDogg @ Dec 20th 2007 7:39PM
wtf...are you smoking? i'm guessing you're not familiar w/ the driving force pro which has been out for about 2 years. 900 degrees of turning, and force feedback. $99.97 shipped through amazon

why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 21st 2007 3:08AM
The wheel in the post above (the one you crapped on). Works fine on the PS3. It works in GT HD, GT5 Prologue and DiRT. And it's a better wheel than the 360 Racing Wheel by far. And it's $99.
m3dina @ Dec 20th 2007 4:15PM
When hooked up to the mains it has force feedback but when playing wireless it does not. Reason being that if they made it wireless and force feedback, then the batteries would die in next to no time. But seeing as they have dropped the price and now I am waiting for the uk price to drop then I would seriously contemplate the purchase of one.
apw76006 @ Dec 20th 2007 4:27PM
I'll buy it and never use it but it makes wonderful man bait.

THIS IS THE BEST WHEEL EVER!!!
Never before have I ever laid my eyes are a better designed more accurate and realistic wheel for any video game system. Not only that, but Microsoft has the nicest and quickest consumer support I have never had to use cause all of their products are tops!
bo sneb @ Dec 20th 2007 5:33PM
lol u sarcastic bastard!
80085 @ Dec 20th 2007 5:36PM
such a shame the 360 has this sad thing for a racing wheel. doesn't even compare to the Logitech G25 for PC, PS2 and PS3. not even worth $99.
vien @ Dec 20th 2007 6:13PM
is this just the wheel or does it come with pedals too?
Tim C @ Dec 20th 2007 6:35PM
not bad for a wireless controller
David @ Dec 20th 2007 11:59PM
People here keep saying that this isn't a good racing wheel, but every review that I've seen says that it is pretty darn good. What gives?
bo sneb @ Dec 30th 2007 4:07AM
read the review posted by "why not the LS2/LS7?" above. it is a very straightforward, unbiased, indepth review that details everything i dislike about this wheel. to sum it up, the force feedback is decent but non-adjustable and on the weak side, the build construction is lacking, the pedal base is poorly designed, you can't calibrate it, it never centers correctly, and, aside from force feedback, there are no frills differentiating this wheel from the 3rd party contenders on the 360. no clutch, no stick shifter, only 270 degrees of rotation, and no programmability in the wheel. this means games have to be programmed correctly for the wheel to feel natural, and you can't adjust the wheel to compensate when a game isn't designed with it in mind. result? the ONLY game it feels acceptable with is forza. every other game you might think of playing with this wheel feels downright unnatural.
why do reviewers praise this wheel? probably because it is the best option for the 360, by virtue of being the only force feedback wheel.
and that's what i HATE about it. MS has manufactured the 360 steering wheel market so that this is your best option. i have much higher standards and am willing to pay for them. logitech's driving force pro meets the bare minimum (also $99), and the G25 is pretty much ideal (tho it is $300). at the VERY least i expect a wheel that feels good with more than one game. but you aren't allowed to opt for that experience. it leaves the system without a solid force feedback wheel. if MS must have our money, they should pony up a quality product instead of forcing consumers to pick the best of a bunch of crappy options.
but if you want to play forza with a force feedback steering wheel it's only gonna cost you $180 now instead of $200+. yay.

Hope this one doesn't overheat like the other Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel.

"What am I waiting for? Gran Turismo 5 and a Playstation 3. Forza sucks, best racing sim on the Xbox is still Sega GT 2002"
Sega GT 2002 is still the best Xbox driving sim? Dude, are you smoking crack. That game blows chunks. I owned the first Sega GT for the Dreamcast and although the graphics were good, the gameplay sucked, especially the brakes. Sega improved it a bit for the Xbox but the game didn't drive right. I'll agree that Forza 1 sucked because the brakes in that game didn't slow the car down but Forza 2 is a big improvement over the first one. They fixed the brakes in Forza 2 and because of that, Forza 2 has to be the best driving sim for a console to date and I'll say that even though I own all 4 Grand Turismos and all 3 Sega GTs.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Dec 21st 2007 3:12AM
TOCA 2 is the best driving sim for a console so far. TOCA 3 is right behind it. I'd put Forza 2 in 3rd.
Honestly, the lack of a good wheel for 360 is a huge black mark against Forza 2, even though it's a good game. Get TOCA 2 for PS2 and a decent Logitech wheel and you'll be better off.
lothar @ Dec 21st 2007 11:12AM
Toca2 was hardly a sim, it was a fantastic racing game but you were basically handed a car with nearly no options of modifications. Toca was a great game in the case that it was a story based racing game which is very un-common.
Besides the obvious car modding, tweaking of Forza I can go online look up any track and or classed race and view the replay of the top racers with the best times. The frustrating thing is seeing someone cut a full 1 minute off your time in the same car LOL.
genaldar @ Dec 21st 2007 2:22AM

JET @ Dec 21st 2007 1:43PM
This is one of the worst wheels I've ever used. At $149, it was worse than wheels 1/3rd its price. Now its only worse than wheels half its price!
