WAR, you and another interview

Sunday got you down without much to do? Well maybe this will eat up a few of those boring minutes for you. It appears that the WarCry Network has a nice little interview with Joshua Drescher, Adam Gershowitz and James Nichols of EA Mythic. This interview happens to be about Warhammer Online (who knew?), so sit down, strap in, caffeine up and listen in because we can never get enough juicy information about WAR.

Many of the subjects are nothing too special, such as the revelation that EA Mythic is going to let players re-spec their characters. To be more specific, players will have the opportunity to re-spec their Mastery, meaning any tactics or morale abilities that were selected in the system. This doesn't include core tactics or morale, as well as anything received from the Tome of Knowledge. The reason being that these are granted through automatic unlocks (such as gaining a level or killing 200 haughty High Elves).

Two quick things the interview also covers are server population balance and mounts. EA Mythic apparently has plenty of plans to keep servers balanced, including (but not limited to) community-related initiatives and RvR-related rewards. Mounts will be a form of travel, but that's it; no mounted combat. We don't really mind, since mounted combat would either be the same as on-foot combat or a whole other system which EA Mythic would have to further delay launch to implement properly.

Then the interview moves on to one of our most favorite subjects, guilds! Community and grouping is important, so when we heard what EA Mythic had to say on the topic of guild tools, our hearts began to race just a bit. We will be getting tons of guild tools with which to operate everything quite efficiently, it would seem. A calendar system, a guild news feed (!!!) and in-depth roster are just some features they can confirm right now. Aside from that, the living guild system is a definite launch feature now. Living guilds gain levels and from those levels they gain benefits for the entire guild, making them another part of Warhammer Online's backbone. Keep your ears perked for more information on living guilds in the future.

Finally, we get a good example of the Mastery system and how it will affect your character throughout WAR. Essentially, the Mastery system further defines the role you've already decided upon. So for a long-rang damage dealer like the Bright Wizard you're looking at three aspects to spend points within; Direct damage, damage over time/debuffs and area of effect spellcasting. This is a basic example, but it gives you an idea of what the Mastery system entails.
