Association of Virtual Worlds plans virtual world
The Association of Virtual Worlds has announced that they are planning a virtual world of their own for their members, to provide a real-time environment for meetings, conferences, collaboration, and social interaction and engagement with less cost, disruption, and environmental impact than physical travel.
The AVW is a relatively new industry body launched officially by Edita Kaye on February 8 this year to act as a global trade association for interested parties in virtual worlds; creators, producers, corporations, entrepreneurs, businesses, developers, educators, futurists, residents, researchers, and governmental representatives.
At present it isn't clear quite what technology will be in place, other than that it is planned to have very low technical requirements and be essentially web-based in nature.
