Age of Conan's Kalanthes answers first round of questions

Our curiosity spiked last month when the Age of Conan team presented their Ask Kalanthes advice column concept. We have to admit that a chunk of our time was dedicated to wondering just what kinds of questions they were going to be answering -- and in what way. Thankfully, we no longer have to guess as the first round of answers have been posted today.

It turns out that the column is an interesting blend of straight-up game related answers and in-character Kalanthes-style answers. While the first column seems to focus heavily on Age of Conanquestions, there are a couple of pretty interesting of-the-wall questions as well. We've always wondered what that little square hairdo was about, too.

A very interesting game question asked what kind of PvE and PvP death penalty we can expect once the game launches. The answer began with a warning that Funcom is still tinkering with the finalized death penalty, but they came forth with an actual answer nonetheless. Currently, in beta, when a player dies the only reason they have to run to their corpse (or tombstone) is to remove the stat lowering death debuff -- this applies to both PvE and PvP. So when you really need to get back into the fray -- say if you were with a party or in the middle of some hot PvP action -- it's just a matter of running back to your corpse.

The one caveat to this system is that you're not invisible (see: ghost) while doing this run. So enemies -- NPC or otherwise -- of equal or even lower strength can take a good whack at you. We just hope that there is a timed element to the debuff, so if we choose not to run back to that area we don't have to do so. There have been many a time when adventurous players -- such as ourselves -- wander into an area with creatures just a bit too tough for them. It would be a bit silly not to have the debuff on a timer, so we hope Kalanthes merely forgot to mention it in his answer.
