Mart Racer: like Supermarket Sweep, with more plunger projectiles

Mart Racer is a WiiWare game about, well, pretty much what it sounds like: racing against friends to pick up a series of items in a supermarket and then check out. It's one of those ideas that is only remotely possible because of the low cost of development and purchase for downloadable games!

GamerBytes interviewed Juan Gril, Studio Manager for developer Joju Games, about the odd racer. According to Gril, partial inspiration for Mart Racer came from the shape of the Wiimote: "... the first time I grabbed a Wiimote instinctively I grabbed it with both hands like a bar. That made me start thinking on a game where you would maneuver it as you would be grabbing a bar." However, the game includes Classic Controller options for people who think controlling a fake shopping cart with fake shopping cart controlling motions is silly. It also includes online play -- which puts us over the line between merely amused and interested.
