World of WarCrafts: Snowman sculpture

Every Thursday, Shelbi Roach of The Bronze Kettle guides you in creating WoW-inspired crafts using real world mats with World of WarCrafts.

The Feast of Winterveil is fast approaching. Along with the rest of the holiday fluff, the snowmen that loitered outside the banks in the capital cities are sure to make a return, only this time they will all be dancing with each other in Dalaran in an attempt to achieve A Frosty Shake.

With this craft, you can have your very own snowman friend. Guaranteed not melt under most conditions.

Here is what you will need:

  • Sculpey Clay (white, black, red, orange, yellow, blue, brown)

  • Pins

  • Wire Cutters

  • Ball Point Pen

Step 1

Gather your supplies.

Step 2

Roll three white balls: small, medium and large.

Step 3

Make sure the largest ball has a flat bottom so the snowman will stand up.

Step 4

Cut two pins so that you can connect the three balls together.

Step 5

Roll up two small balls and put them in the holes you've created for the buttons.

Step 6

Using a ballpoint pen, make indentions into the middle ball so you can put the buttons on.

Step 7

Repeat this process for the eyes. For the eyebrows, you can use a pin to make small lines.

Step 8

To create the scarf, roll out a long blue strip, keeping one end thick. Use a pin to cut away tiny strips in the thicker end of the scarf.

Step 9

Wrap the scarf twice around the snowman, so that it falls down to his side and covers his mouth.

Step 10

Cut down two pins and bend them to create the shape for the arms.

Step 11

Roll and flatten out a strip of brown. Wrap it around the pin. Leave a small piece uncovered so you can stick it into his sides. Add a small piece to the end so that it looks like he has a hand.

Step 12

Stick the arms into the body.

Step 13

Start with a ball of black Sculpey and form it into the hat. Roll out and flatten a small strip of red. Create a buckle using gold/yellow clay. Wrap this piece around

Step 14

Using another pin, secure the hat to the head.

Step 15

Create a base for the snowman by rolling out a red piece of clay and forming it into the shape of a circle. I used a small measuring cup to cut around the border. Roll out a long piece of white clay and wrap it around the edges. Place your snowman on the circle and bake at 275 degrees for approximately 25 minutes.

Step 16

You're finished! If you'd like a shiny snowman, you can apply clear glaze or spray a clear acrylic sealer over him. Interested in more crafting? Visit World of WarCrafts!
