HP's noise-cancelling Bluetooth headphones hit the FCC
We didn't see these noise-canceling Bluetooth headphones hiding anywhere in HP's CES booth, so we can only assume the company is trying to sneak 'em by Uncle Sam while we're in Vegas. Of course, you know we're still on top of everything else that's going down even in the middle of CES, which is why we'll be rewarding HP for this deception with a full gallery of pictures. There's nothing going on here internally that's super-crazy, but the form factor is nicely classic, and noise-cancellation is always fun. Check it all out in the gallery -- and HP? We're watching, guys.

Noise cancellation is great when you're trying to hear that conversation in a crowded public area or something. However, do we really want people walking around with headphones on that cancel out noises like automobiles or emergency warning sirens?
hawkeye1977 @ Jan 10th 2008 11:32AM
Yes we do. It gives hilarious opportunities for next years Darwin Awards!!!

True enough about the Darwin awards.
In hindsight, I guess I assumed that a bluetooth headset was for portable devices, because am/was not aware that there might be bluetooth accessories for home devices. If there are, noise cancellation makes much more sense. Of course, again, you risk the inability to hear cries for help or emergency warnings, or such, all the same. I know I like a good "undisturbed session" when I am playing my favorite MMO, but it's not always practical.

I bet they give those to all of their customer service reps.

Finally we start to see some good bluetooth headphones (maybe!). The samsung last week, and now this. Well, we'll see when they actually come out.

Did anyone spot the power input? Is it mini-USB or will I be forced to lug around some proprietary goofy wall-wart?
TheTruth @ Jan 10th 2008 11:55PM
To the people who spew forth blabbery about being able to hear sirens and wailing screams of dying people. You seem to be forgetting that deaf people seem to do fine in the same environments.
Or maybe we should just ban deaf people from any environment that you think would need sound?

The headphones will come with a 3.5mm bluetooth adapter, so you can plug it into your MP3 player, CD player (if you got one), home stereo and even your notebook/desktop if they are not BT enabled.
