My mate has a Sony A800 and it is amazing. That fake looks terribly accurate save for button labels and logo.
Whoa! Too early for me; I thought this was a human-sized DAP from the perspective of the top photo.
It's not, is it?
It'd be a REALLY BIG secret admirer then.
I wonder how many of these are simply to say "Look at us. We can make anything you spec to us, of reasonable quality and tolerances." It strikes me that the volume on these knock-off units has to be really low, so perhaps they simply want them as for-sale PR pieces. And if they sell a few to people who would like it to be mistaken for a brand-name player, all the better.
Is it Chinese? I wouldn't be surprised. According to my friend who is from China "MP4 Player" is a common term for MP3 Players/PMPs. Most knockoffs and brands from China use "MP4 Player" somewhere on their device.
I'm sure it's Chinese as they're the only ones that have figured out how to stuff 4 (or 5) MPs into a player. The rest of the world seems to be stuck with using only 3 MPs.
It looks more like industrial espionage, the irregular shape looks identical to the NW-A800.
These have already been available for at least a few months here in Asia. The build quality is really god, easily compared to players from the big companies. What is lacking is the software side which seem to be the same as every other of these cheap players use.
