Force Dynamics' 401 simulator chair is pure abuse
Sure, your racing games are exciting... we guess. Though when you think about it, they don't really deliver the kind of visceral, knock-about action of an actual race, do they? That's where the Force Dynamics 401 comes in -- a simulator chair which features a "direct transfer of information," i.e., you get bruises if you drive poorly. Judging from the video (which you can see after the break), you'd be hard-pressed to get a more realistic experience... unless you were actually driving a race car at breakneck speeds around tight chicanes whilst passing speeding, desperate competitors.

the game is rFactor...a game with unlimited mods and tracks being added daily. No CD Crack from G.C.W. will get you online racing. Ditch the bitch...Lets go Racing!!!
Jack thompson would be all over this thing. isnt it obvious? its a street racing training simulator. and with user mods, it could even be a murder trainer/simulator too.
I can see Fox News doing an expose on this... i'm sure they'll find a clever way to use this thing with Mass Effect.
Looks slick though
Okay so I was going to make bad jokes about getting beat up by the simulator but after watching the video, DAMN! That looks fun!
At 3:45 into the vid, he hits the wall, looks to get knocked around pretty hard, and proceeds to shut the simulator chair down and get out.
With racing sim talent like mine, I'd be wheelchair bound before the end of the first lap...
I want to see what will happen if he slam into the wall at 200mph, is it gonna break your neck?
Hmm i kinda think the effect would be like in the Mr Bean movie when he plays around the controls of a fair raide to like 5x speed and everyone is flung from their seats :D
WANT! Man that looks damn amazingly fun!! Wow!
But is it Death Proof?
too old and too bald to be playing video games.
Never too old to play games - just look at the Wii's demographic ;-)
who do you think creates and tests video games? little kids and teenagers? retard.
lol.
Pretty good driving skill. I would love this and my wife would hate it.
I'd like to see a head-on collision.
Ok, forget everything I have ever said about forza2 and GT5 being great sims. This thing here rocks, I would give one of my boys (downstairs) for one of these.
Jesus! You have two dicks? Weird.
that game he is playing is LFS ... www.liveforspeed.net
It's a great simulator, and has a nice demo.
Man... Burnout would really be painful!
This is for proper racing simulators, not cheesy arcade games.
@Andrew
I see we have a snob here... a "proper" racing sim? HAHAHH! *wipes eye*
That is SICK! Wonder how much it is...
The Xbox 360 racing wheel is the closest I've come to driving anything like that - and that was pretty damn fun. Looks like the wheel on this thing has some pretty good force feedback too.
the game is either free, with full online gaming 1 track and 3 cars including a FORMULA BMW, or buy a license and get loads of tracks and cars.
this is freakin awesome!
lol! It would be great if it were a Simulation of the "401 Highway" here in Ontario, Canada.. definetely a gruelling task
Yeah, gas, brake, honk. Honk, gas, finger, break, honk. turn onto the DVP, repeat for 45 minutes.
Awesome game.
I'm actually quite aroused right now.
Sorry.
Imagine that after a hard night at the bars!
What does it cost? I need one!
Just think how much it would hurt to play Mario Kart with that thing...
401? as in Highway 401 here in Toronto? lol!
busiest highway in North America
This is an option for Grand Turismo HD right? ;-)
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun. And to think, it's turned down to 20% so we can see what it is doing better... I wonder what 100% would be like!
Bruising, eh? Does it actually take a flamethrower and torch you if you flip your car then burst into flames?
Imagine using this simulator for teaching people how to drive...
"See, this is how it feels to hit a wall at 90mph..."
