Logitec's LIC-iREC01 puts a stereo mic on your iPod
There's no shortage of microphones for one's iPod, but Logitec is looking to earn the business of those still on the hunt with its LIC-iREC01. Put simply, this dock connector appendage is said to work on "all generations of iPods" (with dock connectors, obviously), and provides a built-in stereo mic for voice recording on the fly, an additional audio input for connecting something more sophisticated, and a mini-USB port for keeping your PMP synced while this thing is plugged in. At the moment, pricing details are unknown, but those camped out in Japan can look for it to land in their neighborhood later this month.

Voip for iphone/ipod touch?
That would be a dream come true.
its been done www.touchmods.net
Not to be confused with Logitech
Interestingly enough Logitech is actually called Logicool in Japan.
Not really, all Logitech products like keyboards and mice are so branded in Yodobashi and BigCamara.
Wow, I stand corrected. I could have sworn it was Logitech ... but no, it is indeed Logicool ... wow, I feel like someone just messed with my head.
hexoDAT64, I was thinking the same thing. Would this work well to VOIP on my touch? Anyone know?
This is pretty cool. The only thing I miss from switching from my Zen to my Zune is the lack of a Mic and the lack of Radio recording. I hope they make something like this for the Zune soon. (If possible with the current firmware)
Am I the only one thinking that unless this thing is supposed to be used upside down those channels should be flipped. Left mic on the right side and Right mic on the left side. Just my two cents Logitec
I don't understand what you're trying to say... That the left mic should be on the right and the right on the left??? Why would they do that??
Because as it stands the mic is only good for recording yourself or something on your plane. if you wanted to record for example someone speaking you would hold the microphone out towards them and the left channel would be on their left side. so when they moved or spoke stage right you would hear it through the left channel. get it?
Oh, then why don't you just swivel the Ipod around so the mic is in the correct direction?
Then the conversation would be upside down, DUUUUUHHHHHH!
j/k
You know.. I was about to comment on how stupid is is to put the right left letters on there but then you came along and ruined everything.
Jack - you crack me up. I understand what you are saying but I got a couple things:
1. If you're recording someone speaking on a stage, does it matter if the sounds moves left or right - It would only be confusing if you're watching a video of the speaker too... a video w/o sound for that matter.
2. If you do get confused, flip your headphones around and problem solved.
You people are making my head spin.
This will be a welcomed accy for iPhone and Touch users.
I use iPod mics for podcasting, since my 80gb classic has some nice storage for podcasting.
Ill look into this.
Given my rudimentary skills using a straightedge on my screen, I estimate that this thing is about 2.25" wide - which would fit very nicely on my Touch's ~2.5" width, especially for VOIP. As long as its under $50 or so, this would be a very nice accessory indeed.
Brian
ooh look at that separation.. I doubt you'll get a true stereo recording. couldn't they have at least pointed the mics in opposite directions?
