SlySoft's latest AnyDVD HD release strips BD+ from Blu-ray Discs
The title pretty much says it all here, folks. Just a few months after SlySoft revealed a beta of its AnyDVD HD software which obliterated BD+, v6.4.0.0 has finally arrived and proudly possesses the ability to "remove BD+ protection from Blu-ray Discs." Among the other changes is an option to enable / disable BD+ removal, a fix for seeing a black display with some BD discs and other minor DVD-related tweaks. Brimming with excitement? Hit up the read link below -- your next download awaits.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Gotta love the hackers!! I wish i was good at hacking stuff...
andy @ Mar 19th 2008 12:49PM
Is there anything that is powerfull enough to stream these over a network for full playback at 1080p?
Nietzche @ Mar 19th 2008 1:05PM
yeah, regular gigabit ethernet should do just fine.
Frankenstein Black @ Mar 19th 2008 1:04PM
Yes, a move to Japan or South Korea, where you can enjoy bandwidth that make other country’s bandwidth look anemic. This is why Bill n Steve’s excellent adventure down the “anything but blue-ray” journey will suffer an EPIC FAIL! HD Disc medium still have at least 5 to 8 years of viability before networks (globally) can handle HD downloads in a reasonable fashion (i.e. no one will wait 4 days to download 1 HD movie. That’s just silly.). Now stop the nonsense and let’s get a Blue-Ray drive for the Xbox 360 already...
Aaron @ Mar 19th 2008 1:07PM
Rather than go on a tirade, maybe answer the question? Yes, this stuff will stream over 100mbit or possibly N wireless to an older version of PowerDVD that still allows you to open HD videos from the HD. Any computer with an 8 series nVidia GPU or a x3x00 series from ATI can play it with any modern CPU, many Core 2s can play Blu-ray and HDDVD without hardware gpu assist.
Brett @ Mar 19th 2008 1:15PM
I use MediaGate's MG-350HD product to stream smaller files (under a gig) over a g wifi network and for larger files, such as programs in HD, I just ftp the files to the MG's 500GB HDD and watch smooth playback in 1080i on me Sammy 40" 1080p via component. A newer verstion of that product, MG-450HD, has HDMI out and a few other features. Start here:

@Frankenstein....How does the bandwidth coming in to my house have anything to do with my home network speed? Regardless of the speed coming in to my house my home network is all Cat6 running on a gigabit router. That is more than enough to stream multiple 1080p feeds....
AJ in the East Bay @ Mar 19th 2008 2:07PM
@Maestro:
That's because Frankestein completely misunderstood your question and FAILED in his answer.
r3loaded @ Mar 19th 2008 2:55PM
100Mbit Ethernet works fine with Windows Media streaming + Xbox 360
Sharakar @ Mar 19th 2008 12:51PM
GO HACKERS GO!
darkstar @ Mar 19th 2008 12:54PM
i thought it was unbreakable!
u'll have to forgive my naiivity (and my spelling)
thewalrusking @ Mar 19th 2008 12:54PM
I have to use AnyDVD HD to "use" my PURCHASED HD dvd player, MY PURCHASED monitor (without HDCP) and oh, ya, my PURCHASED movies, my PURCHASED dvi cable. So I have to break the law to watch movies/hardware, I have spend $500 on. This is why DRM and the like is bad for the consumer. I go out of my way not to download from Apple. I have lost over 100 songs when moving pcs, and which equates to $100 or more lost only because I UPGRADED my PC?
At least steam treats me fair. I can redownload my pc games purchased there anytime.
Jesus @ Mar 19th 2008 1:02PM
Yeah I had to get anydvd hd to be able to watch my purchased movies on my computer since my 7900gt isnt hdcp compatible.
PeterF @ Mar 19th 2008 1:03PM
why do you have to use it? did they turn HDCP on in HD-DVDs?
Aaron @ Mar 19th 2008 1:09PM
The down convert flag was never enabled, but PowerDVD still wont playback the content without an HDCP chain.
thewalrusking @ Mar 19th 2008 1:14PM
Ya the dam thing wont down convert, BUT why should I down convert if I have all new hardware. My monitor isnt old, it just doesnt have HDCP. I ended up buying a open box monitor cheap at BB but need to return it cause its got bad image burn in. So back to AnyDVD.
Oh and the apple thing, didnt know u could request the songs back. But I need to send an email to them and explain a bunch of crap??? Nope! ive since learned to use NON drm services, no more itunes for me.
CraigJ @ Mar 19th 2008 1:27PM
How do you lose iTunes files? A: Apple will let you re-download them at least one time, B: I've moved purchased iTunes libraries, and Audible libraries to multiple computers with no problems at all. Currently my library is on a Linux box accessed via a Samba share...
The only way I can see you losing stuff is if your system takes a dump, you don't have a backup, and didn't ask Apple to let you re-download the files...
Kris @ Mar 19th 2008 2:27PM
@CraigJ, they don't let you re-download them. I used to work for Apple support and if you wanted to re-download something, you had to send in a support ticket and have a very good reason for needing to do so. Even then, most of the times you have to go through Tier 2 support to do so.
Salacious @ Mar 19th 2008 2:42PM
HDCP is only used on digital connections (HDMI or DVI). The Image Constrant Token is used to limit analog output (component or VGA) and has only been used by mistake on a couple of German HD DVDs
CraigJ @ Mar 19th 2008 3:10PM
@Kris. Yep. If your computer blows up or gets stolen, that is a good reason. I didn't say you could just go to iTunes and get the files again, but if you have made a sizable investment, you might at least call Apple to see if you can get the files again.
Kris @ Mar 19th 2008 3:21PM
@CraigJ, you can't call Apple. Support for iTunes and .Mac is done entirely through e-mail. Unless this changed in the past year, they do not have a way to resolve any of these issues over a phone. It's idiotic but that's how it's done.
What happens if your only e-mail address is .Mac and your account isn't working? E-mail Apple. But wait, how? E-mail support only for .Mac; e-mail Apple. I've seen people get escalated to Apple's higher level support only to be told to e-mail their support.
If you have an entire music collection, you have to jump through quite a bit of hoops to re-download them if they'll even let you (they don't have to you know).
To this day I still do not know why Apple's support is always rated #1. They have so many bad / annoying policies it's insane. Oh well...
albanyco @ Mar 19th 2008 12:59PM
Wow. Read the help files. I've moved between at least 5 computers and 3 laptops since I started buying music from iTunes. Not a single "lost" purchase.
LiqwidZero @ Mar 19th 2008 1:00PM
And now we wait for the BDA to deny all of this.
dlreid @ Mar 19th 2008 1:05PM
I see a good business opportunity here. Rip Blu-ray movies to your hard drive, then burn them to HD-DVD to sell on ebay... keep the format alive!
thewalrusking @ Mar 19th 2008 1:20PM
there are tutorials to do just this, convert to go either way, or to DVD, or to HDrive. I personally couldnt be bothered, ripping a dvd takes forever and its just too much time. I barely have time to watch a movie much less sit there ripping one. Plus I do not like ripping them cause its all this DRM stuff that we have to answer to.
Joe Maki @ Mar 19th 2008 1:19PM
If you have one of those very rare HDDVD burners :)
CraigJ @ Mar 19th 2008 2:06PM
@walrusking. Was that sarcasm? 1: ripping a DVD takes a few minutes, 2: AnyDVD strips out the DRM.
Jon @ Mar 19th 2008 1:18PM
So will this make it so when i rip a Bluray it doesnt give me a bunch of fake files and all out of order ? Older blurays ripped fine , the newer ones are all out of sync and im lazy
BluesK1d @ Mar 19th 2008 2:44PM
I feel your pain. You need to use a tool called BDInfo to get the correct order of the files. It can be found on doom9.
Sy @ Mar 19th 2008 1:43PM
It doesn't work for the latest Fox release, Hitman. BD+ is not fully cracked yet. Fox will keep changing BD+ and SlyFox will keep updating their software. The game between Fox and SlyFox will continue for the foreseeable future.
pete @ Mar 19th 2008 1:48PM
Oh Slysoft, how do I love thee?
Ironic thing is AnyDVD is one of the few pieces of software I pay for.
Worth every penny.
Aaron @ Mar 19th 2008 1:48PM
Hats off to the Slysoft wizards! For the record, the ability to rip and play BD+ protected content has been around for a while. However, it involved file conversion and playback on PowerDVD 3319a. Now, I'm hopeful you can just drag and drop in explorer.
It would be nice to have an equivalent of Clone DVD to strip the 7-8 worthless adverts and coming attractions and just rip the movie.
BioWare #1 @ Mar 19th 2008 2:15PM
Or vice versa actually... rip HD-DVDs and then burn them to BD. Anydvd should be able to do that as well.
"I personally couldnt be bothered, ripping a dvd takes forever and its just too much time. I barely have time to watch a movie much less sit there ripping one."
uh... if you don't want/feel the need to rip movies, that's all good. Just say you're not into it. I don't get why you had to make up lame excuses that are easily argued against... such as... start ripping before you go to bed. Then wake up and voila, BD ripped. Or before yoo go to work, etc. Do you really think, even for a 15 minute DVD rip, that I'm going to sit in my chair and stare at a status bar until it's done? In the time it took you to write a comment on something you don't like to do.. I could rip, shrink and burn a whole DVD.
InfinityPlusOne @ Mar 19th 2008 2:21PM
Well that's nice. Too bad PowerDVD still sucks at playing them properly.
David Hildreth @ Mar 19th 2008 2:32PM
!!! I'm so happy.
Dave @ Mar 19th 2008 2:33PM
I told you...
polvadis @ Mar 19th 2008 2:42PM
Didn't Warner Bros. say in their statement long ago that they're going Blue Ray because it offers security that HD can not offer? I guess that reason is out the window. I guess that leaves the 400 million other reasons that Sony offered.
I liked HD. Can't even spell Blue Ray correctly; is it Blue Ray; BlueRay, Blue-Ray? Bloo Ray?
PhilxBefore @ Mar 19th 2008 3:29PM
Theres no 'E'.
Its Blur-Ay
Aaron @ Mar 19th 2008 4:18PM
Blur - ay, eh?
Somehow I disagree.
José Jesús @ Mar 19th 2008 10:02PM
Bel-Air
Jay @ Mar 19th 2008 2:53PM
I'm new to the whole DVD backup scene. I've never done it before in fact. Where should I start learning about this? If I AnyDVD can it burn the DVDs too? I see it recommends CloneDVD, but that's another program to buy. Is there another program I could use?
Pingmeister @ Mar 19th 2008 3:12PM
For those who haven't purchased it YET AnyDVD is updated so often it is aggravating (wait, I meant that as a compliment!).
These guys are so far pretty damn committed to keeping this software as useful as possible.
I have purchased two of their products and highly recommend them.
Aaron @ Mar 19th 2008 4:19PM
Well you don't have to restart anymore with the updates so I don't find them annoying anymore.
David @ Mar 19th 2008 3:21PM
Yet. another reason to drop copy protection all together.
Corporate waste at its finest and intelligence at it's finest.
dean Harris @ Mar 19th 2008 3:34PM
I'm new to this ,so please help me out. I have 21 BR discs and 2 of them got scratched really bad, they are now unplayable. With this software can I,
1. make backup copies?
2. what type of blank media do I need?
3. can I make copies and keep them on my external hard drive?
4. What do I use to play them on my computer?
5. I'm using a mac will it work on that?
phanbouy @ Mar 19th 2008 6:09PM
I will not buy this Tobacconist. It is scratched.
Michael Scrip @ Mar 19th 2008 4:24PM
What timing! I just downloaded this new version of AnyDVD for copyi... backi... yeah... you know!
LordZargon @ Mar 19th 2008 7:11PM
I have one word:
LOL
tekdroid @ Mar 19th 2008 9:22PM
recorders for $200. Blanks for $10 or less.
Wake me then.
Hollywood content is irrelevant. Ripping their protected content is irrelevant.
Waiting.
