PSP firmware 3.95 hits the tubes
The last round of PSP firmware updates brought Skype support, but it looks like 3.95 isn't nearly as exciting: Sony's added in reconfigurable button mapping to PS1 emulation, and made it so that you can choose to either shut down your PS3 or leave it running when you're done with a remote play session. That's about it, but we know you're all compulsively checking for the update now anyway.

nerdtalker @ Apr 8th 2008 5:02PM
So you're trying to demonstrate how underwhelming of an upgrade 3.95 is by making underwhelming, stereotypical first-post remarks?
Ahh, I see what you did there. Clever.
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 5:02PM
well, at least we know you play doom
Backlin @ Apr 8th 2008 5:09PM
Erm...both your post and your avatar are over-done jokes.

the default settings and made a new one and it deleted my custom theme
that I got on playstation.com I tried to put it back on but it won't show up.
if anyone has suggestons I'll be listining.
94 taurus owner @ Apr 8th 2008 5:35PM
Oh and when I mean tried to put it back on I had to go back to the website to re download(I accidentally hit the format memory stick icon by mistake one day).So if there is a step I missed or something completely
different any suggeston would be helpful.
phanbouy @ Apr 8th 2008 5:39PM

94 taurus owner @ Apr 8th 2008 5:51PM

You guys somehow missed the 3.93 update...
DogEars @ Apr 8th 2008 6:24PM
Jesus this place has been going down the tubes lately (the comments).
I know I'm not helping by posting this, but FFS get a clue.
leo.hj.chen @ Apr 8th 2008 6:27PM
When's divx support coming to the PSP again? firmware 4.0??? Sony need to hurry!
Jack @ Apr 8th 2008 6:38PM
This is barely worth me whipping out the old psp out of my safe, charging it then running an update. Sony should have definitely put this as a combo with the next update, not make it separate.
Curtis the Claw: Brawl Code 1075-0441-3284 @ Apr 8th 2008 6:54PM
Why is your PSP in a safe?
maryland157 @ Apr 8th 2008 9:22PM
Because he's ashamed that it only has a handfull of good games.
LiQuiD_FuSioN @ Apr 8th 2008 7:30PM
Damn it. Too bad I dropped my PSP yesterday and broke the power switch. Have to open it up now to see if I can still get it to work.
Before, the Remote Play thing was quite cool. The menus were laggy on the PSP, but it was certainly an interesting feature. Haven't tried dlding any of the PS1 game yet though.
94 taurus owner @ Apr 8th 2008 8:48PM
When is the GPS software coming out????
crsh @ Apr 8th 2008 8:48PM
While we're at it, aside from crap business reasons, why can't the original PSP (aka phatso) get Skype support?
tekdroid @ Apr 8th 2008 9:33PM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Portable#PSP_Slim_and_Lite
Double the onboard memory from 32 to 64MB seems to be the reason.
crsh @ Apr 9th 2008 7:48AM
Yes I'm aware of the "official" reason, Skype can run on much less (smartphone edition comes to mind, those devices don't have 64 mb of memory); seems like Sony doesn't want it to run on the older version for sales reasons more than anything else, it's a cheap way out.
tekdroid @ Apr 9th 2008 7:31PM
well, outside of being in the Skype PSP development team, it's all speculation. Maybe you're right.
I have a Slim and can't say I am even remotely interested in Skype, fwiw. Here we have a device with no keyboard to make Skype chats sane, so basically voip-only pretty much, and I have to have it connected to wifi to use Skype, yet have to live with the cut-downness of the device to do anything sane and/or productive and/or quick online.
Hrm. Can't say it excites me, but a nice (free) novelty for Slim users nonetheless. Probably only useful to a small sub-set of users but a nice buzz-builder for the Slim PSP.
94 taurus owner @ Apr 8th 2008 9:46PM
Why can't it just take deletable memory from a memory stick.
tekdroid @ Apr 8th 2008 9:50PM
flash is slow. ram is fast. two totally different things.
rokerovakero @ Apr 9th 2008 12:24AM
what a boring update. Thank god they still care a ton for the PSP, they might as well not release anything.
