Steve Jobs to speak at WWDC 2008, no way he'll talk about new iPhones
On June 9th, Steve Jobs will be speaking at WWDC. Plans are vague right now, but we understand he will give two lectures on Sudoku, a shirt-folding seminar, and will discuss the possibilities of using a perpetual motion machine to replace the engine in his 1986 Volvo. Afterwards, every developer gets a hug and a low five. It's unlikely he'll discuss the 3G iPhone.

I'm surprised that Engadget hasn't posted on Microsofts restrictions on what sort of hardware qualifies for an XP license on the cheap.
That's usually right up your alley. If anyone's interested, they're pretty extreme restrictions.

You know what I want, a cheap mac. I'm a pc person, I swear by them, I hate macs. Yet, I want to screw around with OSX. Thats right, I want a mac, a mac that doesn't cost twice as much as its pc counterpart. Please, give me a 400 dollar mac. I tried to install OSX 10 in two of my pc's, yet my sata drives were not being recognized. I have made fun of macs and mac owners for a long time, but Leopard has grabbed my interest. So please, let me have a decently priced mac.
cirian75 @ May 13th 2008 8:40AM
Hummmm.
So two lectures, Opps, I mean Jobnotes.

I know a lot of people in the UK, haven't purchased an iPhone just because it doesn't suppport 3G, but when it does they will buy it the day it comes.
The only thing stopping me is the 3G and tack tile feedback.
He will likely disscuss the way forward and possibilites in developing software for the iPhone and his vision, not the 3G iPhone!!!
This is the first time developers will be able to official develop something for this new platform of device.
cg @ May 13th 2008 8:49AM
tack tile ? humm... interesting. is that one of those staplers for your flooring ?
WuFu @ May 13th 2008 9:01AM
No LOL
It is the physical feedback you get from a device you either touch it or input something like a letter, you may like get a physical vibration from the device.
This is useful to let you know if you have inputed the right letter instead of just typing on a flat surface.
LordFarkward @ May 13th 2008 9:04AM
something just went *wooooooooooosh* past WuFu's head
Andrew Borem @ May 13th 2008 9:10AM
This amount of failure is just cute.

Any idea when this supposed "3G iPhone" will be released?
I was *THIS* close to picking up an iPhone last Sunday because it was going to be a birthday present from my parents. I asked the AT&T guy at checkout whether or not 3G was coming out since I heard about all the rumors. Of course, he had no idea and stated it won't be out for another couple of years. Then again, maybe he really was uninformed?
Maybe I was being selfish when I put out the idea to "wait" to get an iPhone and purchase a plan, but perhaps I was just being smart and looking ahead? I really hope the 3G iPhone comes out within the next month and a half already. As much as I may sound like a fanboy or materialistic, I'm more of a fan of seeing something new and interesting.
psxp @ May 13th 2008 9:25AM
@LiQuiD_FuSioN
the dude was trying to make a sale, of course hes going to say in a couple years!
michael @ May 13th 2008 1:26PM
You're right yet ironically most of the UK doesn't support 3G. I'm like 20 miles from London and live in a big town. No 3G on ANY network.
People want the phone to support it despite the network not... Kinda ironic really...
Dan Davis @ May 13th 2008 11:36AM
Tactile > "Tack Tile"
Input > "Inputed"
Harkonian @ May 13th 2008 12:55PM
@Liquid Fusion:
The iPhone will be out next month. AT&T employees work on commission, so of course he is not going to tell you that you should wait for the 3G iPhone, even if he knew it was coming out.
TheRatpack81 @ May 13th 2008 6:15PM
@ Michael
The UK is setup for 3G. I live in Plymouth (right in the sticks) and there's a 3G service down here and throughout the country from what I've looked into. Not sure what problems you've been having.
booticon @ May 13th 2008 8:43AM
Am I the only one hoping for something about Mac Minis to go down?
Ender Wiggin @ May 13th 2008 8:47AM
Nope. I really want to see them go down. If they drop enough there's a good chance I'll get one as my college computer this fall semester.
Chris Burden @ May 13th 2008 8:48AM
Nope :)
WuFu @ May 13th 2008 8:48AM
I don't think you are the only one, but there isn't such a big crowd following as for other macs like the notebooks and iMacs.
computer.dude.28 @ May 13th 2008 8:49AM
Like the price?
tiuk @ May 13th 2008 10:24AM
@WuFu
I think they would have more of a following if the price dropped.
Paul @ May 13th 2008 11:35AM
I'd just like to see the mini released with an optional GPU upgrade, at least on par with the macbooks. This is the only thing currently keeping me from popping for one to replace my old PC at home.
Randy @ May 13th 2008 11:48AM
You aren't the only one. :-)
I'm waiting for a better GPU amd ESATA. the mini would be a good (mini) server and a awesome MythTV front-end.
clicclic @ May 13th 2008 12:26PM
The mini is already an excellent HTPC. I'm running 720p HD on it with zero pain (1.83 MHz, 1 GB, 80 GB). It cranks on everything SD too.
Stop sitting around waiting to live your life!
Gordy @ May 13th 2008 8:47AM
Landmark? Sounds like Microsoft Office is coming to the iPhone in one form or another.
Ryan @ May 13th 2008 8:48AM
Why would a 1986 volvo ever need its engine replaced?
bhtooefr @ May 13th 2008 10:38AM
The diesel Volvos weren't known for their reliability... so if it's a diesel, it could actually need a new engine... ;)

Brand New iPants coming next month. They fold really thin, but only have one pant leg. Also, no zipper.
