Alligator skin Xbox 360 case is a bit too realistic
Oh yeah, we've seen some undeniably bizarre Xbox 360 case mods, but this freakish homegrown covering exemplifies the art of destroying resale value. We don't quite know what else there is to say about an incredibly detailed alligator skinned console, but if pictures really are worth a thousand or so words, there's an epic waiting for you down in the read link. Please kids, don't try this at home.

I didn't think that box could get any uglier. Yu-uck!
The bitterness is strong in this one--he who thinks writing "M$" in other threads is a diss.
Did Microsoft rape your father and kill your mother? Or did Microsoft insult your mother with your exact words, but referencing your mom's cooter and not a "box" in the denotative sense?
Either way The Dude recommends you chill out, troll under a bridge and not Engadget, and wipe the Dirty Sanchez off from your upper-lip.
Oh my.
Looks like someone crapped it out.
I hope Chubbs doesn't see that
WOT? i actually think it looks sick!!
thats so sick. its not a beauty contest, its a mod
I wonder if the eye will glow yellow when you shine a light on it?
that is very.. creepy.
if it scares you just poke it in the eye ;|
Not very nice but why is it so creepy? It's just another mod.
dang thats sweet
Yeah dude, it's badass... I guess you and me just have bad tastes or something, everyone else thinks its gross
I love it ++ for being first to say so.
man I love it too. It is one of the sweetest case mods I've seen in a long time.
Probably shit myself if it RROD in a dark room
even if the alligator theme isn't your thing..... it's still a sweet mod. (although I think the alligator theme is pretty awesome as well)
/agree
Reading the title of the post gave me the impression that nobody likes this case... I did.
Hell, it's better/more interesting than the white plastic on mine.
Totally sick. Its all in the eye.
Good... thought i was alone in wanting one.
that totally owns. I wish microsoft hired these cool modders to make 360's in different flavs. They should hire ol' Ben Heck.
Wow, the mod does indeed have a great level of detail, but wouldn't this case mod like insulate the inner components and induce an RRoD? It definitely looks like there's a lot of layers gone on top of the stock console, I'd just hope the console stays fine..
Great Mod nevertheless, but i wouldn't be risking an Xbox 360 for this.. It just ain't risk-worthy..
The real problem will come when he tries to get it repaired under warranty if/when it does suffer from the RRoD!
And from what I've been seeing it's more likely when than if!
The croc will get sore eyes then.
You'll just have to put some visine in the eye to clear up the old RRoD.
I'd definitely be worried about sending this thing in for warranty repairs. How pissed would you be if you had this come back, only to discover that an Xbox repair tech had somehow "accidentally" erased it?
what you guys aren't taking into account is that alligators are ancient creatures, that have been living in hot swamplands for ages. Through the years their skin has evolved into the perfect combination of armor and an evaporative cooling infrastructure. I mean, have you ever watched a gator chase down his prey? I bet this console runs like a champ.
Great. Good for you.. Looks like you found your Summer wear.. I can picture you happy in Gator leather garments..
That aside, Do u even know that Gators are cold-blooded reptiles? They "need" to keep the heat inside to stay alive.. They have a heat release mechanism if it gets a lil' too hot and steamy(!!).. Hope your Xbox has one too.. :)
Btw, I "really" hope that you are a cold-blooded mammal, I really hate to watch people getting roasted by the sun..
Peace! Ameen Out!!
If, by bizzare, you mean - TOTALLY SWEET.
noice! that looks amazing - job well done
yeah that would give me an excuse to actually buy one.
Not my style but certainly far more tasteful than the typical Florida touristy alligator junk that I see everyday. I always find it amusing whenever I end up near Orlando how suddenly alligator souvenirs seem to inhabit every gas station and convenience store.
IF he gets this repaired, they are blatantly gonna rip off the outside, he will make a fuss, and bill gates will sign him a new one, and bungee will give him free stuff.
And why exactly would Bungie give him free stuff if that was to happen..?
If you had read the story about the rrod console that got wiped, you would know that bungie do this stuff for publicity.
If you red the RRoD story involving Bungie you would realize they only did it because there was Halo/Bungie artwork and signatures on it to begin with.
MS screws this one up and they are going to have to go down and kill a croc.
Blaine, I'm not sure if you have noticed but your Xbox got the RRoD. I think you should call up Microsoft or something.
I do love the ol towel trick ;)
Yes, I did indeed read it. That's why I'm questioning you. Doh..
Does anyone else think that the insides would heat up about as quickly as say, a purse left in direct sunlight?
Having never left a purse in direct sunlight, perhaps you can enlighten me as well as others, how hot does a purse in direct sunlight get?
sweet case mod, but i can't imagine that does much for cooling.
Yea definitely gonna suck on cooling, we hope he put some air holes to cool it a little bit but overall that skin is gonna trap alot of heat
It's actually some kind of putty on the original shell and then painted, he left all vents obstruction free.

Hey, you get to poke an alligator in the eye every day without the fear of biting or guilt of exploitation. It's a winner all round.
I think it's fat!
I find it tacky :/
then don't click on the link next time.
and using numbers for lack of originality in screen name creation = tacky.
=Þ
Prokanda, you have taken smiley faces to a new level!
I just can't replicate it. I guess it can't be done with a regular keyboard.
It won't be a rrod but a reod "Red Eye Of Death." In about 5 mins after this gator is switched on.
