Earth Trek touts "world's smallest" projector
While it likely won't hold onto the (slightly dubious) title for long at the rate mini-projectors are cropping up these days, Hong Kong-based Earth Trek has nonetheless gone out and proclaimed its new 90-805R projector to be the "world's smallest" and, indeed, it is small. Measuring about 4 by 2 inches, the projector can apparently pump out a 22-inch diagonal image (no word from what distance), with an SD card slot and an A/V input provided via a 3.5 mm jack, not to mention a built-in speaker. No word on a price or release date just yet, but we'd assume they'd want to get it out relatively soon in order to beat the inevitable cellphone projector rush.

I want this...
But how much are the bulb replacements? That's the dealbreaker
Craig @ May 26th 2008 4:07PM
Dunno for sure, but I'm guessing it's LED, so "bulbs" aren't really much of an issue.
Blaine Oliver @ May 26th 2008 4:46PM
I bet this eats batteries like theres no tomorrow!
stefan @ May 26th 2008 5:43PM
@Blaine
bah.... I think that 4AA Batteries with 2500mAH each will get you through 1-2 hours of usage easily...
LEDs with more than 15 Watts being rare as they are.
stefan @ May 26th 2008 5:48PM
should click the read link prior to posting.... included battery really gives you 1-2 hours of use.

We, here, are pathetic beings.

Or maybe project a supermodel on a less-than-satisfactory mate?
Bk7 @ May 26th 2008 3:51PM
Way to show how tiny this thing is.. with a completely scaleless photo..
Craig @ May 26th 2008 4:06PM
4 inches by 2 inches...how difficult is that to imagine?
bk7 @ May 26th 2008 4:08PM
Yes, im aware of that, but a picture is supposed to say a thousand words...
DarkLight @ May 26th 2008 4:14PM
"How difficult is that to imagine?" - Quite a bit, for those of us who have used the metric system since the start
Craig @ May 26th 2008 5:32PM
Sorry...didn't realize being trained on the metric system left you unable to do simple arithmetic. 2 * 2.54 = 5.08 cm.
If 5 cm is difficult for you to imagine, look in your pants.
Paris @ May 26th 2008 5:36PM
"If 5 cm is difficult for you to imagine, look in your pants."
LOL!

Heh, and a built in speaker. I'm sure the sound quality is awesome.
Cute though.
w00t @ May 26th 2008 5:22PM
By the looks of it, I bet the sound quality is about on par with the image quality ;)

Can be purchased on ebay and other located., The company stopped making them just last month. Perhaps they have a newer version with brighter LEDS? It was rated at 20k hours no word on replacement bulbs. They were designed as throwaway units with "lifetime bulbs"
Jerome @ May 26th 2008 5:28PM
22 inch is small for projector...
I know the thing is small but if I bring it to school went we make team meeting an 22 inch screen is small.

I think I will wait to see video before judging
leonard.low @ May 26th 2008 5:43PM

Oh Brad,
is that a mini-projector in your pocket?
...or are you just happy to see me?
BloodyGerman @ May 27th 2008 3:00AM
Nobody wonders why it does not mention resolution?
I guess, because its something terrible unusable, like 160x120 or something. Like that the other SD micro projector recently announced on engadget.
They are probably just trying to trick some idiots who believe this will be a decent projector. Seen people buying similar junk on ebay for a horrendous prices.
