RIM's BlackBerry Kickstart detailed further in Flip Experience
Don't be ashamed, you're out to get every last morsel of Kickstart goodness before RIM's first flip phone ever hits the market. On the docket today is a half dozen slides detailing the Flip Experience, essentially spilling the painfully mundane minutiae of how the handset will function while talking, receiving a text message, showing alerts and playing music. Nothing too mesmerizing or unexpected, but the Matt Damon hateration is totally out of left field.

God thats sexy
They've gone mainstream....
RIM is currently the market leader in the US, how are they not mainstream already?
haha that hot girl is totally turning him down!
F*ck her anyway. She doesn't like Matt Damon.
Would wanna date a girl that doesn't like MATT DAMON? Geez, next she is going to say Pierce Brosnan sucks.
I'd still take a new Meteor or Javalin over this. I can't live without QWERTY.
What is the Meteor and Javalin? Sounds interesting... Links?
Oh, nevermind --- Google IS my friend!
Poor Matt Damon.... Maatt Daamon
It's because Matt Damon uses an iPhone
Worst
Blackberry
Ever!
Why because its a flip phone? Seriously, RIM is just expanding their line up. Also how do you know this phone is going to fail, just saying its a flip phone really isnt proof its going to fail, but good job at hating it before ever using it.
Laptops suck because they fold.
@ Killer
Congratulations! Your RIM FanBoy status has been approved!!
Where did I mention that this BB was going to fail? Oh wait, I didn't! I simply stated that this is the Worst BB Ever (in my opinion.....which should have been implied). Whether or not it fails, only time will tell and frankly I don't care if it fails or succeeds.
I don't necessarily hate it because it's a flip, but that doesn't win brownie points in my book. The overall styling is hideous, and the lack of a full QWERTY keyboard are the deal breakers. For me, it just doesn't work, and you seem to have taken personal offense that I don't like it. TFB!
I currently use a Curve, and the only thing that might make me switch at this point, is a touchscreen BB......whenever it comes out.
Your opinion is a bit more valid now that you're stated your reasons (ugly in your opinion and no QWERTY), but until you added that you didn't have much ground to stand on.
Also, killer's comment wasn't at all fanboy-ee (Is that a word?) from my point of view.
That's weird, I'm pinned as a RIM fanboy even though i've never owned a blackberry in my life. That's a first, so we're both at fault for assuming things. I'm glad you stated the reasoning behind why it is the worst blackberry ever. That was the only reason I suspected you were just some random troll, because you had no reasons to back it. Now that you've stated why, I am taking back what I thought your reasonings were.
Where's the keyboard?
Why aren't they showing what kind of keyboard/navigation will be used? that the most important part of the physical phone itself.
it's SureType, like on the BlackBerry Pearl.

Nice to give choices in the lineup, but I'm sure the Bold will be the best seller in the BlackBerry lineup when it hits the streets.
WHAT?! No mention of the iPhone? I'm impressed.
SureType sucks. Full keyboard mandatory. If you want highest sales, you need to standardize and use the easiest, no learning-curve keyboard layout....qwerty. Make it qwerty and i'm sold fo sho'! Qwerty=larger number of potential users.
right because theres so much real estate available for that.
suretype sucks compared to qwerty but its better than t9
Not all of us are wiling to have a much larger phone just to have a qwerty keyboard with keys that are too small. I'm quite happy with the SureType on my Pearl.
This looks interesting if it isn't too thick when closed.
"This looks interesting if it isn't too thick when closed."
That's what she said.
It's not going to win any awards for being the flashiest phone or one that has tons of gadgets, I think the Kickstart will do what it's meant to do and provide a very simple solution to customers who need a phone, check the occasional e-mail and text (granted the person enjoys suretype). With the Pearl being the first consumer based phone from RIM and this being even more consumer friendly, I think it will be cheaper than what RIM already offers and will fit with many who are on a budget and don't want to spend for a Pearl, Curve, 8800 series or the Bold/9000.
I like it. Definitely think there is a market for this. For folks who primarily want to use it as a phone and have basic text/email capabilities this is pretty nice. I see a ton of Pearls in my offices. This device will compliment users looking for a phone first, data second device.
I thought only Chinese knockoff companies used the Aqua wallpaper in their product shots/mockups... o_O
...but does it have youtube?

When it comes to making calls the KickStart will work like any other flip, and when it comes to messaging, flipping the KickStart open will be like pulling an existing BlackBerry Device model from its holster.
