The last
Wii keyboard we saw was pretty hellaciously ugly, but Logitech's take on the much-needed peripheral is actually fairly sleek. The all-white keyboard doesn't quite have the flair of the
diNovo Mini, but it does have full-size keys, and for $50 it isn't bad -- and it's officially licensed by Ninty, so there are dedicated zoom, quit, forward / back, and OK buttons. Sadly, however, it's not Bluetooth -- there's a proprietary 2.4GHz USB receiver -- but you can't win 'em all. Should be available in August.

This is more exciting then anything that Nintendo announced at their conference... How sad.

Ewww...it looks so nineties!

THIS IS FANTASTIC.
Now I can properly use my Wii's web browser and play the extensive list of RPG's the game has.
Or use the Keyboard and Mouse for the EXTENSIVE, A++ list of First person shooters on Wii !
Lousy PS3 and Xbox360 users have Call of Duty 4 and Halo3.
We WII users get exclusive content like CRYSIS: Very High Settings Edition.

Wait I get it.. You are making fun of the Wii
Nice work mate.. hilarious !
kal326 @ Jul 15th 2008 2:22PM
But I take it no WiiMote like motion control, bummer, and I was so ready to start work on Wii Frisbee.
Will @ Jul 15th 2008 2:24PM
Thanks for not naming it a Wiireless Keyboard, Logitech! We appreciate it.
Tyson @ Jul 15th 2008 2:56PM
finally a Wiiboard

WHY? OH MY GOD WHY!?!?!?!?! USE A FUCKING TEN DOLLAR USB KEYBOARD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
The only person who could possibly need this is someone who bought a Wii before the USB support was enable and cannot EVER connect to the internet or buy a new game that does the update from the disc... and they would have no reason to have a k/b (no messaging or browsing)

The design of this keyboard looks almost identical to the Logitech PS2 USB keyboard, which I picked up when they were clearance'ing them at Gamestop for $10.
I'll definitely pick this up for my media pc when the product flops, and is again on clearance!
jeromey.shannon @ Jul 15th 2008 3:41PM
I agree. $10 wireless keyboard works, or reuse that extra USB keyboard that's been sitting in your closet. I do.
chefgon_ign @ Jul 15th 2008 6:52PM
Is there a ten dollar wireless USB keyboard that is the same size as this and has reasonable wireless range to reach the couch?
I'm not being sarcastic, I'm asking a serious question. I tried to find one but it seems like all the wireless keyboards (with USB receivers) I could find are full size with numberpad and usually extremely expensive with pointless media features or mouse track pads built in.
I want something small like this (or smaller) that won't take up a lot of space on my end table, that I can grab and use for a few minutes when I'm searching for YouTube videos or typing out a Message Board reply in the Opera Browser. If that is readily available for ten dollars, that would rock.
Phoenix @ Jul 15th 2008 7:00PM
maybe not $10 but less than $50 for sure.
michas_pi @ Jul 15th 2008 4:18PM
Looks like the small keyboard they make for the PlayStation 2.
mabhatter @ Jul 15th 2008 10:26PM
They make an actual Bluetooth keyboard for PS3 including trackpad... it's way cool and perfect for a HTPC. Only problem is that they dropped the necessary "PC" keys on that model (needed for Ctrl, alt, win, fn, option, apple...) , otherwise it was a perfectly good PC keyboard. Surprised they didn't go the whole BT for this one. Price may have been a concern, as any BT stuff is a $30 premium lately, on top of Nintendo's $20 cut this would have been $80-90 bucks.
Faar @ Jul 17th 2008 7:48PM
The PS3 keyboard also lacks international keys, making it nigh impossible to use for typists outside the U.S.
Also, I find it extremely disappointing the product shown in this news post is not a proper bluetooth keyboard. When Logitech gets their act together, I'll consider buying these products. Not before then!
ybd @ Jul 15th 2008 5:39PM
Woah, a keyboard! That's just the type of 3rd party support Nintendo has been waiting for!
Mark @ Jul 15th 2008 11:56PM
cool... i would be more excited if i still used my Wii...
asurroca @ Jul 16th 2008 10:34AM
That's what she said...
I would be more excited if the Wii had enough storage to actually run the friggin web browser without having to re-load it after 30 minutes of browsing because the cache is full.
Over-promising and under-delivering while alienating hardcore gamers and making epic profits... Nintendo's business model is brilliant, I'll give them that.
Rincewind @ Jul 16th 2008 4:09AM
Cool, one port for wii speak, one for the wireless dongle and... well... if i had to use the ethernet dongle, i would not be able to play the new animal crossing online. How sad...
