Look, we're all nerds around here, no shame in that game, but Maximum PC is taking it to a special level with its latest write-up. They managed to sneak into an unnamed "hardware contact" who let them mess around with a mid-range, 2.93GHz
Bloomfield chip -- the desktop version of
Nehalem -- and an Intel D58XSO "Smackover" motherboard. No benchmarks just yet, but they do go over all sorts of interesting topics like DDR3, larger heatsinks and SLI compatibility. Riveting stuff, we tell you.
Yes it blends, plays crysis on high, and runs doom and in soviat russa this CPU runs you and the country!
Mmmmmm ddr3 ram with one of these....yummm
Notice the Terminator T200 logo?
Coincidence?
No... CONSPIRACY
-= INTEL IS SKYNET =-
I just want the hot chick terminator haha....
Before the grammar police get on me:
* Soviet Russia
spelling police. but nice try.
in soviet russia dead horse beat you
In Soviet Russia, Phanbouy you! I mean... Bouy Phan you!
Holy crap... they are both things that can plausibly happen or are true!
*explodes*
LOL
I still haven't failed to laugh at these Soviet Russia jokes, rofl!
Can't wait for some benchies
that's a sick avatar. props, man, props.
yup, very nize.
It's a clothing company ....
really? are they called Backdoor Apparel perchance?
http://www.astyle.it/
you were close phanbouy not exactly right but you were close for sure you know about technology and you also know about clothes
"Clothing Company" logo? Sure it is.
Love the avatar though.
phanbouy fan:
we know that your joke is now tired and you're a spiteful little coward dipshit whoever you are
by the way, i didn't claim to know about clothes, it's a joke. think about "backdoor", and what the logo looks like, then picture your boyfriend.
you got him real good there, "phanbouy fan". he was so showing off his knowledge of fashion. ha.
hahaha wow it IS a clothing company, i'm totally buying something from them, just so when I walk around with the logo i can say "its a clothing company"
intel motherboard running sli?! maybe those nvidia-quitting-mcp-business rumor are true.
The skulltrail boards can run SLI and Crossfire so this is probably the nehalem equivelant.
As the article points out, (and if you didn't read the article, (even though you probably should have before commenting) it is widely known that Intel MOBO manufacturers have the option to license the technology from nVidia to integrate at their discretion)...
"But what about SLI? If you don’t know by now, SLI capability for Bloomfield will only come through motherboard vendors who buy and integrate Nvidia’s nForce 200 chips onto the boards. Not all X58 board vendors will do this and none of the X58 boards we’ve seen have had the SLI chips. Even more troubling for Nvidia is that a recent Digitimes.com story quoted unnamed vendor sources as saying that few were event interested in even adopting the bridge chip for SLI capability. Board vendors we’ve talked to, however, say they’re taking a hard look at adopting it."
That is exceptionally hot stuff. Let me know when it costs less than a small used car and I'm all over it. Hell, as it is right now I'm still running Nforce 590.
DDR3? What does Dance Dance Revolution have to do with this?
i was thinking the same thing
It has EVERYTHING to do with this.
No kidding. Big whoop. My budget PC plays Dance Dance revolution just fine.
double data rate
somebody didn't get the joke...
It was so funny I fell off my dinosaur.
u haz dinosour?
LOL at the name xD
"Smackover"
Damn, beat me to it. But yeah I'm not sure in which direction to take my jokes on the name Smackover. It's just so funny on its own.
shame they didnt take photos without the chipset huge heatsink on it.
How can MaxPC claim this is the first Nehalem system? Anandtech benched one more than two months ago.

I want bench marks =(
Your mom wants benchmarks. :-p
The logo is just plain odd. It looks like a small cartoon character, with a huge head made of Intel, meanwhile torquing a wrench atop a single ski snowmobile. Odd I tell you, ODD!
I was thinking the logo looks more like the First Version Terminator Skull.
Now we know what runs the Terminator, truly Intel Inside
Ahem,
SKULLTRAIL RING ANY BELLS?
If you can see a skull, great! Your a smart guy. If you can't, go back to Gizmodo, idiots...
oh snap you dissed gizmondo oh snap
I said G-I-Z-M-O-D-O. Not the stupid and failed portable videogame brand, but the stupid but not really failed tech blog which rivals engadget.
I wonder how Mojave performs on this?
lol I'm thinking great
But will it do MS DOS?
LOL gay
Actually, that's the logo for the Skulltrail platform:

Can't you see the skull?
rawr. me want one.
I love the logo, so I went and shopped my own :D
