By utilizing a spare Wiimote, a USB-enabled PC, a USB missile launcher, a few strips of duct tape and a minor amount of programming knowledge, you too can craft an auto-aiming launcher which can find, aim at and attack IR targets. Grab the aforementioned items and hit the read link, just take care to not poke your eye out, alright?

put this on your sofa and an IR tag on your cat's collar and you'll never get scratches on your sofa again...

The cheapest EEE PC would be good for this. Maybe even an OLPC

Duct tape on my Wiimote? I don't thinks so...
ShadowKain @ Aug 12th 2008 9:07AM
Have you ever heard of Goo-gone? Its quite useful for easily getting sticky residue off of anything including electronics and plastics, so quit complaining about duct tape, the greatest invention ever. It has how many uses? too many to count! GTFO L053r

Only if it makes the targeting sounds like in Portal.

My cat will know the real meaning of torture! XD JK!
futurebird @ Aug 12th 2008 9:38AM
Those USB missile launchers have a long delay when they fire. So I don't know if you'll hit any moving targets.
kal326 @ Aug 12th 2008 9:39AM
Damn you comment system!!! The first one doesn't show up for ten minutes. Add a second one because I thought the ; choked it and then they both show up at the same time.
XenoX101 @ Aug 12th 2008 10:14AM

I'm guessing I also need a wii right? i cant just buy a wiimote and make this, or can I?
Phoenix @ Aug 13th 2008 4:23AM
Yes, you can
Phoenix @ Aug 13th 2008 4:23AM
Now I just need to get my fellow employees to all wear those "novelty" hats I made!
JBaughb @ Aug 13th 2008 3:39PM
I hear those wiimotes can be pretty dangerous with the old style wrist straps. You may want to look into that...you know, for safety reasons.
Duck @ Aug 15th 2008 6:44PM
The Wiimote can only "see" spots of intense IR. IR LEDs from the Nintendo lightbar or candles and the like. Both of my webcams though can track your head around and zoom in on it.... has anyone made something like this using video tracking????? :D
anebg @ Aug 24th 2008 11:49AM
Video after the break??
