Nikon D90 gets UPC code
If there was any doubt that the Nikon D90 D-SLR was coming your way, and a Best Buy stock record wasn't enough after a Circuit City inventory screen didn't sway you, then perhaps a snapshot of the product UPC will convince you? This code showed up on UPC database last night and, well, let's just say that it's time to start saving your pennies for this $1300 wonder.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, a UPC for the Canon EOS-9D also popped up on the site. UPC haters can (and should) move along, but the link is here. [Thanks, Scott F]

Bad luck!
Anders @ Aug 14th 2008 8:30AM
Anybody can add an incorrect entry to that database.
It does not prove anything.
Big Al @ Aug 14th 2008 8:37AM
And how is this different from Apple news that gets posted here?
Tony @ Aug 14th 2008 8:38AM
whats special about it?
Jason @ Aug 14th 2008 8:47AM
Shit somebody get CNN on the horn!
Jason @ Aug 14th 2008 8:48AM
It's not different. It's just as stupid.
ShadowKain @ Aug 14th 2008 8:54AM
Im serious, no joke, WHY!?!? Its a UPC code! Unless you have some hands on news or other with the D90 why bother? Im sure the 13 year old smartass kids on this site will argue me, but its a UPC CODE, repeat it over and over till you realize how much time you wasted on this "news" clip.
Evan @ Aug 14th 2008 9:26AM
Guys, chill the fuck out.
This is news because it's more proof that the unconfirmed D90 actually exists. Considering that now we can be sure, almost without a shadow of a doubt, that this thing will be official soon - I'm sure there won't be much more news (except maybe specs) until the official announcement.
Geez.
johnzilla @ Aug 14th 2008 1:21PM
Technically, it's a UP code, not a UPC code. Just, you know, to be accurate.
People who say "UPC code" are probably the same people who say "PIN number".
Bad Beaver @ Aug 14th 2008 9:03AM
Most Nikon employees took a dump this morning. Engadget reported it.
Seriously folks, this doesn't even count as irony anymore, it's just pathetic.
giuliop @ Aug 14th 2008 9:17AM
Ah, pending updates: 0. That's interesting. Plus, have you noticed that the first bar code has a pending 4 at the end, while the second doesn't have anything at all? Wow. You could speculate plenty on that alone (although at the moment nothing comes to mind).
Oh, and don't dismiss the Size/Weight: Unknown so easily. People have written books about subjects like that.
Joe Anstine @ Aug 14th 2008 10:06AM
ZOMG A UPC CODE!!!????!!!
This is freaking UNPRECEDENTED!!!! Its OUTRAGEOUS!! Its....not really anything important. Cmon now Engadget, after the sweet, sweet report of Boeing and their teh lasers, you post this?
Makes me a sad panda.
and a UPC code means nothing.
Johan S @ Aug 14th 2008 10:07AM
I could be wrong .. but can't any joker submit a UPC code to that site?
It's implied here: http://www.upcdatabase.com/guidelines.asp
Is there some designation to say it's official?
gary @ Aug 14th 2008 11:36AM
My son in law has had this Nikon for 3 weeks now dont know any results
Ben @ Aug 14th 2008 11:56AM
You son did not have a d90. It's not out yet.
troy @ Aug 14th 2008 11:52AM
The UPC code means that there is evidence of a d90. Stop whining
Graham @ Aug 14th 2008 3:34PM
Im going to have to print this out and take it to one of the item pricers at the store, or maybe a self checkout at walmart and watch the machine freak.
jtboston @ Oct 7th 2008 2:54PM
Circuit City in Burlington, MA has it already. I was playing with it on Sunday.
No one there knew how to turn on the video recording though. I tried, but couldn't figure it out.
