WatchScale attempts to become the new calculator watch
Move over, Casio Databank (and similar) -- a formidable opponent just rolled into the ring. While the aforementioned timepiece has been the geek watch of choice for years now, Jennings' WatchScale is all set to give it a real run for the money. This wristwatch not only displays the time in brilliantly blue fashion, but it also weighs lightweight objects (up to 300-grams) with an accuracy of 0.1-grams. We know, you're already bracing for a quadruple-digit (pre-decimal) price tag, but there's no need for worry -- after all, you can procure your own for just $17.90.

Give The Government a week or two and they'll label this ""drug paraphernalia".
mikeym328 @ Aug 21st 2008 9:17AM
Great, now I know what to get my dealer for Christmas.
Pablo Escobar @ Aug 21st 2008 9:17AM

teetdogs @ Aug 21st 2008 9:19AM
For the weed dealer on the go.
Rich @ Aug 21st 2008 10:22AM
This thing is useless. How many weed dealers use the metric system?
John @ Aug 21st 2008 10:35AM
what, do you buy stuff in ounces?
henry the eighth @ Aug 21st 2008 10:45AM
pshh everyone knows that 1/8 oz is 3.5 grams...
ChemE @ Aug 21st 2008 10:39AM
No worries, it measures up to 10.583 +/- 0.001 ozs
B3astofthe3ast @ Aug 21st 2008 10:52AM
Dude, ALL my dealers use onces.
B3astofthe3ast @ Aug 21st 2008 10:53AM
Oops, I meant grams.
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Aug 21st 2008 11:12AM
28 grams in an ounce, 16 ounces in a pound, 2.5 pounds(give or take) in a kilo. Who says people who smoke pot are dumb. Everywhere the world over, those are the measurements for buying drugs. Grams and ounces folks. I've been a smoker of POT, great Canadian POT, for over 20 years. I can do that shit up in my brain and since I've been at it for over two decades I can now palm weight a gram easy, even an ounce or even an eighth.
CraigJ @ Aug 21st 2008 12:15PM
"Oops, I meant grams."
Put down the blunt
Wwhat @ Aug 21st 2008 12:15PM
Ploy to get the americans to switch to metric via their popular pastime? Devlish.
adam.plante @ Aug 21st 2008 12:53PM
In Canada all the dealers use ounces and grams. Depending on how much your buying.
tekdemon @ Aug 21st 2008 6:20PM
Rich, most drug dealers worldwide deal in grams for fairly obvious reasons, and even in the US if you want to be a drug dealer you better know how to convert grams to ounces and vice versa or you're really just not qualified for the job.
But seriously dealers will know what you mean whether you ask for 7 grams or a quarter.
greatsunjester @ Aug 21st 2008 9:20AM
Gold plate it and stick some (OK, lots) of sparklies on it and BINGO! You will have at least one 'gansta rapper' (are there really still any?) wearing it.
BIlly G @ Aug 21st 2008 9:21AM
[dealer joke]
Ken @ Aug 21st 2008 9:29AM
LOL @ lack of drug references in article
dzhiurgis @ Aug 21st 2008 9:30AM

News: In the latest fad of drug dealers, Watchscales have become a huge hit in the city of Baltimore
teecas @ Aug 21st 2008 9:35AM
The new Weight Watchers® official accessory? =P
dervheid @ Aug 21st 2008 9:52AM
Nah, it only weighs up to 300 grams, not 300 pounds! ;-)
teecas @ Aug 21st 2008 10:36AM
They can weight their donuts...
brandon @ Aug 21st 2008 9:40AM
It's craptastic!!!
Daniel Bentley @ Aug 21st 2008 9:53AM
yeah I saw drug dealers immediately.
Jason @ Aug 21st 2008 11:04AM
and....? what was their response?
d @ Aug 21st 2008 9:59AM
know what I'd use it for? not drugs. can't think of anything else.
Anthony @ Aug 21st 2008 10:15AM
Well at least now you'll be able to show your dealer how much he's shorting you so you don't have to look him up after the fact. What else would this be good for?
Joe @ Aug 21st 2008 10:25AM
now if only they made a watch grinder and a watch vaporizer, collect all 3!
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Aug 21st 2008 11:14AM
Don't forget the WatchBong so you can keep track of the hits. I would buy this collection for novelty sakes.
Tim Douglas @ Aug 21st 2008 10:31AM
Can't wait to see all the creative magazine ads they'll indirectly market to drug dealers.
"Always on the go? Watchscale. Precision at every corner."
"What's the difference between 1 and .8 grams? Watchscale. Proof you round up."
lanejasper69 @ Aug 21st 2008 10:35AM
{Insert some drug dealer reference here}
LOL, this is dumb and all the same funny, yet useful....it must be a gadget!! Cool! (Not being sarcastic BTW)
omf @ Aug 21st 2008 10:42AM
Wow, 96% drug-related comments. Didn't even cross my mind, though I admit it seems pretty obvious after someone mentions it.
Jason @ Aug 21st 2008 11:16AM
Didn't even cross my mind
.....rrrright.
Wwhat @ Aug 21st 2008 12:16PM
Perhaps some substance was clouding his alertness?
CraigJ @ Aug 21st 2008 12:17PM
Drugs were the first thing I thought of when I saw this. I figured I'd post a witty comment about a coke dealer. Disappointment abounds.
UnixSystemsEngineer @ Aug 21st 2008 2:10PM
Why'd you come to the comments, if not to make a belated drug reference. That's what the rest of us are doing here. Between hits, that is.
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Aug 21st 2008 11:08AM
I'm labeling it that right now. but honestly how am I to use this accurately without having to take it off all the time. FAIL! you know when ya really need to advertise that you're a dealer of some kind. Cocaine comes to mind when I first saw this.
SOOPERGOOMAN @ Aug 21st 2008 11:15AM
BRING BACK RYAN BLOCK.
Xepol @ Aug 21st 2008 11:31AM
Can anyone come up with a legimate non drug use for this thing???
Marc-O @ Aug 21st 2008 4:49PM
Hmmm... Postage ?
Jason @ Aug 21st 2008 7:02PM
Ezzactly! Why just the other day, I was thinking, "Hmmm...how much postage should I use to mail a paperclip?"
Jimmy S @ Aug 22nd 2008 8:05PM
I have a pocket scale with 0.1g accuracy I use to measure looseleaf tea.
I don't know why I would need a portable wrist version though...
▀█▀ █ ▀█▀ ▄█▀ @ Aug 21st 2008 11:33AM
The best thing about this is: it _DOESN'T_ tell the time. That's right, no watch function in this watch scale.
