Sony's VAIO JS, LV and RT all-in-one desktops hands-on
Rather than taking the circular approach, Sony's choosing more traditional design models to follow with its latest trio of all-in-one PCs. As you can see in the gallery over at Engadget HD, the larger of the two were actually mounted up on swing-arms in the outfit's CEDIA booth, essentially acting as monitors for watching TV / playing PS3. The small guy didn't do a whole lot for us, but the two hung up on the wall were pretty svelte. See for yourself, won't you?

Sony makes pretty great hardware. They remind me of apple if their market strategy didn't work out. Both sony and apple make pretty hardware with their own special system.
Apple's doesn't suck though.
And I have to say, slap linux on those all-in-ones and they move up like 10-20 points on my arbitrary scale of awesome

I would have qualms about low ranking you since you seem to want that, but I'm sure we'll find someone to hate even more so that you're 2nd to that as well.

keyboard by Apple...
GON @ Sep 4th 2008 11:35PM
@CraigJ
We already discussed this. Sony made that particular style of keyboard first. But perhaps due to a lack of marketing, everyone such as yourself are convinced Apple did it first.
PS, do Apple desktop keyboards have trackpads?

Look through the pics, there is a version without a track pad. And actually, the TRS/80 CoCo was the first to have a keyboard like this.

The answer: Sony VAIO X505
thin laptop like Mac Air with this type of keyboard.
all in one. few years before Mac.

What is it with these close up pictures of things today that show like nothing of the device but a corner? I want to see the item, not a pseudo dramatic picture of the corner.
Either way these sound interesting but the aesthetics aren't quite there yet.
phanbouy @ Sep 5th 2008 12:13AM
yeah but doesn't that faux-grille make you HARD?
Connmannic @ Sep 5th 2008 12:25AM
I looked at this, I looked at the programs in the task bar, and at the time. It was exactly the same. the sound icon and the internet icon @ 10:44. PM instead of AM but still cool, if not a little weird.
vdogg89 @ Sep 4th 2008 11:56PM
look sony, just because apple ships crappy thin laptops, doesn't mean you have to follow.
nizzy1115 @ Sep 5th 2008 12:04AM
Umm this is a desktop.
Scratches head...do people even read articles past the titles anymore?
dzhiurgis @ Sep 5th 2008 2:29AM
This keyboard is only hot hot hot thing. Everything else - 'keeping it real fugly' series. This looks leak uber cheap lcd tv..
vdogg89 @ Sep 5th 2008 10:47AM

Down @ Sep 5th 2008 12:40AM
Very nice.
BTW - Sony is waaayyy better than Apple. But then again, most companies are better than Apple anyway.
deedeedee @ Sep 5th 2008 12:52AM
Wayyyyy too expensive, even more than the iMac, I think if I have $3300 to spend I rather get the 24" iMac and a 40" LCD TV for the PS3.
Sony computers aren't that good, i have a vaios laptop, runs like shit, not a big fan.
