LG's KC910 one-ups the Viewty, ships in October
LG's cover was blown late last month with the early unveiling of the KC910, but it's hard to ignore that warm, fuzzy feeling one gets when any outfit doles out the official verbiage as confirmation. The self-proclaimed Viewty successor (formally dubbed the LG-KC910) looks mighty fine on paper, with a 3-inch WQVGA touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera (with Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics and a Xenon flash), geotagging support, Dolby Mobile, video recording, A-GPS, 7.2Mbps HSDPA and integrated WiFi. Regrettably, LG failed to pass along the most pressing morsel of news (read: the price), but at least we know it'll be available somewhere in the world this October.

OK, The original LG Prada design was stolen by Apple?
So LG decided to take it back?
But I liked that sidebar gadget kinda things.

as an iphone user - i would love to have that camera
im sure the OS wont be up to par - i suppose the 5th iteration of the iphone we can expect MMS and flash :)

My missus has the orignal viewty. It's a but chunky but a great phone and the 5MP on hers is a great camera.
Winth this and Sony's 8MP camera phone due this autumn, I can't camera-phone getting any better than that (although I said that about 5MP). I wonder what the battleground will be next year?
EmoChicksAreHot.....Seriously @ Sep 4th 2008 11:20AM
I agree.I would love that cam too.The real question though....can it use Android?
Eric B. @ Sep 4th 2008 1:01AM
Can it play Crysis?
gabe @ Sep 4th 2008 1:11AM
that line was never funny.
oki @ Sep 4th 2008 1:59AM
Wow, as an iphone user.. stubborn as alot of us are. this is really impressive
slarity @ Sep 4th 2008 9:34AM
I'm an iPhone user as well but I hope Im not stubborn. I just havent seen anything to beat it yet. This does look very nice indeed.
Sidenote: I did play with the instinct quiet a bit and it honestly is horrible compared to the iPhone =( I'd like to play with an HTC touch pro.

yeah I bet LG was really trying to think of a way to make it immediately obvious, without having to even touch this phone, that it had something the iphone did not - big shiny camera and a sometimes shinier flash.
good work, it looks not bad.
happy_penguin @ Sep 4th 2008 3:30AM
Very nice. If it's half as good as it appears to be it's a serious contender but price is important too.
Ronald @ Sep 4th 2008 3:55AM
Install Android on this baby and i will be all over it.
=glu @ Sep 4th 2008 4:28AM
if the price is right this could steal some serious thunder from the N96.
brain @ Sep 4th 2008 4:50AM
the veiwty is the most ill-concieved rushed to market lump of frustrating underperforming camera laden poo i have ever owned.
LG have abandoned those who bought it with the total lack of support for the handset - no firmware updates or nothin.
Which makes me wonder how bad this lovely looking thing might actually be....
bring on the trumpets!
aaron @ Sep 4th 2008 6:02AM
i completely agree, i would have Never have got the viewty if i knew how awful it was. the touch screen sucks (my gf's one is almost 98% unresponsive), the os is slow, the cameras non shake feature doesn't work. and the list goes on.. and i completely agree about the LG support, they should Not make phones in my opinion, if they aren't going to provide any support.
I don't think i would ever touch an LG phone again.

Fruits.
Carl Vitullo @ Sep 4th 2008 7:49AM
Hmm. I know everyone hates it when people start yelling that something stole its design from the iPhone, but DAMN. It looks EXACTLY like it! (except for the material)
VampireHunter Z @ Sep 4th 2008 8:20AM
LMAO!!!! Dolby Mobile? Who comes up with this stuff?
CJ @ Sep 4th 2008 8:57AM
Probably Dolby.
VampireHunter Z @ Sep 4th 2008 10:26AM
I know and I feel like I just made fun of a Geico caveman. But I've always associated Dolby with "bigger" sound systems. You know like Dolby Digital. Dolby Mobile is just too cute.

I don't know how people can compare this phone to the iPhone. I happen to own a silver LG Viewty and iPhone 3G and they are two totally different beasts. I am excited and looking forward to the reviews of the LG KC910. I am hoping that the browser is more user friendly than it is on the Viewty. The addition of WiFi and the widget interface are wonderful improvements. It only saddens me that it'll probably cost $700 for this phone.
Abhishek @ Sep 4th 2008 10:34AM
Hah! We'd be lucky if this thing gets priced below $800. (all specs still existing when the phone does come out, that is)
CJ @ Sep 4th 2008 8:55AM
Homosexuals?
nkh @ Sep 4th 2008 9:14AM
ah!
It really saddens me to see that an iPhone user like this kinda crap.
You might as well just shift to motorola for that matter.
This phone is pretty dull as was the previous one.
And I think it to be impossible now that anyone would ever be able to make a genuine iPhone competitor. Camera apart.
Shinigami @ Sep 4th 2008 12:20PM
Hey, they lost the most interesting feature on the way - WVGA! Now its WQVGA! xD its 400x240 instead of expected 800x480 (4x resolution, same as HD-Ready versus DVD, or same as HD-Ready versus Full-HD, but the second is less noticeable).
The price? Knowing the late prices of similar products expect it to be no less than $800 for european markets. Like 500-600 euros without a contract. Its my wild guess.
sam @ Sep 4th 2008 4:49PM
The screen clearly says "jazz." I'd say this is headed for the states.
Nelson @ Sep 4th 2008 7:48PM
This phone better get me that date to the prom, wait.. I'm 26 and I never went to my prom, yes I know this is a sad day.
CJ @ Sep 6th 2008 8:31AM
Well, perhaps just a date to A prom. Or taking 8MP spy shots of girls going to THEIR proms.
Gareth2303 @ Sep 5th 2008 10:04AM
23rd Of August 2009 Anyone?
