Verizon's BlackBerry Storm page goes live
It was redirected for most the of the day, but Verizon's BlackBerry Storm page just went live, hopefully meaning we'll be see RIM's first touchscreen phone make its debut sometime soon. All you can do at the moment is sign up for an email alert, but we've got you covered with the internal promo video, box art, talking points, and even a ninja-themed hands-on -- yeah, let's get this released, guys.
[Thanks, Nick]

thats what she said.
that comment can be used in some many places but you sir, failed to make good use of it here...
I deduct 1 internet and banish you to 56k for two months
a,
"What will it feel like?"
followed by a,
"thats what she said"
was very well played.
give the man back his internets.
nicely done!
I'll tell you what it'll feel like...
I am interested to see if they can make a touchscreen that is in the same ball park as the iPhone in terms of responsiveness. So far, nothing, in my opinion, has.
I think we all are. At this point, it's make or break time - equal the functionality of the iPhone's touchscreen and UI or prepare for a flop.
(Though, even IF it doesn't, I think it will still sell just because of the BlackBerry name)
I want this phone so bad because I want to show off from the guys who carry around the iPhone 3G. Also I travel alot outside the US and never had a phone that worked outside US so this will change how people will travel with their Blackberry phone.
Ive used my BB 8830 in England, Germany and the Netherlands this year...
they can call it the Ver-iPhone. hee hee i'm so clever ^_________^
As soon as anyone sees this BlackBerry, they're going to assume it's an iPhone since the iPhone is the A#1 touchscreen handset in the world. You can just tell those people the Storm is an iPhone clone and they'll just shake their head, laugh and walk away saying to themselves, why didn't he get the real deal instead of a piss-poor imitation.
Wouldn't Jon Lam comment be before Sisyphus comment?
?? what?
give me the bold verizon...or the touch HD
i hope you're not saying that because jon lam's time stamp is "higher" than Sisyphus's. that would be epic fail.
"Blackberry app store? There have been apps for Blackberry for quite some time." - Michael Scrip
Examining the URL you included, I found:
An app to make your BB look like the iPhone: $7
An MP3 player that lets you roll through album art with the trackball: $20
View HTML emails on your BB: $29
Wow, I never thought I'd say this, but Apple App Store stuff is a *bargain* compared to BB software.
Sidenote: nice job shamelessly lifting an OS X icon for the Communication & Internet section, CrackBerry. Steal Different.
@ Quix:
Look, I didn't write any of those apps. I was simply pointing out that there have been apps for Blackberry way before there even was an iPhone. And didn't the iPhone get apps only a few months ago?
The Blackberry and the iPhone are two totally different devices... in case you hadn't noticed. For years Blackberry was a business device. The iPhone came out in 2007 as a phone shoved into an iPod.
Who send HTML emails anyway? Blackberry is about getting email to employees. PUSH-ing email to be exact. Business has been done on Blackberries for over 10 years.
There are many themes for Blackberries. There is a Super Mario Brothers 3 theme... does that mean they are copying an NES? You can make your Blackberry look like and do whatever you want.
You don't need to add any apps to a Blackberry to have it do what it's designed to do... but there options out there.
Thats a nice phone, i have an iPhone and i would consider getting one of these! I'm very interested to see how it will do.
that is Blasphemy. Everybody knows that the Apple iPhone was made by a God and therefore cannot be bested by anything. Anything made by a mortal. Put out your own eyes.
STOP PRESS:
My 4 year old daughter tells me that I am mistaken; "Daddy, the iPhone was made by a lying cheating git", she said, pausing in between mouthfuls of alphabet soup, she looked up at me earnestly, "Steve Jobs is the Emperor with No Clothes. Don't you see Daddy ?"
She tends to know these things.
Eh. Looks really plastic-y and BB has never jibed well with macs. I have a feeling their answer to the app store will likely be vaporware for a while. I'll gladly stick to my iPhone.
Also kccboy2004, reverse fanboyism is totes lame.
> "I have a feeling their answer to the app store will likely be vaporware for a while."
Blackberry app store? There have been apps for Blackberry for quite some time.
Oh, here's some: http://software.crackberry.com/homeSoftware.asp
Ha. The top 2 apps are to make it do something it should already do (html email) and the 3rd top app is to make it look like an iphone. Fail.
Not meaning to be rude or anything, but the BB Storm won't be fit the carry the iPhone's jockstrap. Not because the Storm will be bad or anything. It's just that the iPhone is so darn great nothing can stop it from taking over the whole world, except for Japan. Those confused people have been isolated for so long that any handset from outside their country is considered weird. Gooooo iPhone.
@ mdnetguru:
Wait... you used FAIL to describe the Blackberry? Blackberry has always been about text... getting information out to employees. PUSH-ing it to employees to be more exact. No Blackberry user is complaining about the lack of HTML e-mail support. Besides, who sends HTML e-mail anyway? Isn't that kind of a faux pas? But, you can add it if you want.
There is one thing you CANNOT add on the iPhone... Copy-n-Pa... oh you know... "something it should already do"
Yes, the iPhone theme is very popular on the Blackberry. But so are many other themes. Or how you can make your home screen have today's tasks and calendar appointments. You can make your Blackberry look like and do whatever you want.
The iPhone screen is just a bunch of icons... and no blinking message indicator.
if you're a simpleton, get an iphone. if you are a true businessman or want a device that you can do anything with including giving it your own character you get a diamond or htc pro. if you're a business man that deals with email all day and like the device nice and reliable, you get a diamond, touch pro or storm.
the iphone is for simpletons that does half of every other device.. funny, that's just like their pc's and laptops.. atleast they're consistent in the drawbacks of their units.
insert obligatory McCain joke..
Don't! That thread has blown up completely. Let's keep this one on point. I can't wait for this phone to come out. I am all set to upgrade from my 8830 to the Storm as soon as humanly possible.
That red line on the screen, is that McCains last trajectory over Nam?
You know, Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in 'Nam of course.
"give the man back his internets."
canoo, i lol'd. :)
damn comment system. i definitely hit reply
Damn--and I didn't!
lol. i meant to Sisyphus. yeah that wasnt clear at all, sorry.
Blackberry seems to have so many phones floating around but no new ones actually being released We have the bold, javelin, storm and the thunder I think? Half of those have not even been official announced. I like them announcing new stuff but release some of it already!
i really hate to burst your bubble but the thunder was renamed the storm (at least in the US) so they're one in the same and of the ones you mentioned the only one unannounced is the javelin. in your defense, that is a lot of names to throw around. :)
what's up with all that "Biggest screen and highest resolution" talk? I was expecting a 4.3 screen, minimum 840x480. As I can see, seems pretty much like an iphone screen. with higher resolution? 840 x 480? well, that's a lot to possess using the current method and architecture of the chip. All I l know is, Nvidia is going to put all this tech to the past with their new chip design. the problem is that they are working with Microsoft. I'm just sick and tired of devices getting slower by the minute {pocket pc}. The ipod touch; The same performance in the morning, you get in the evening without restarting.
"Biggest screen and highest resolution" was referring to past BlackBerry handsets and was in no one comparing it to the iPhone.
nice porn hat
@phanbouy: Here I am just reading comments...giggling at iPhone and BB fanboys. Then bam. Spit out my coffee because I start laughing. Thanks.
At least the launch slogan wasn't something cheesy like "Taking the world by storm!!!"
I had the same thoughts, except I thought they'd go with "A Perfect Storm".
DON'T CARE, SHOW ME THE KICKSTART.
Seriously, I'm getting so tired of hearing about the iBerry. I know I'm in the minority, but I hate touchscreen phones, and want to move back to a clamshell from my Pearl.
I hope the goon squad at Verizon doesn't hobble the capability of this phone. It looks like it might be cool, and they need a useful phone that doesn't sound like a vibrator.
this thing well suck
will
i liked it the first way better
That link does not take me to the Verizon BlackBerry Storm page.
Sadly they took the page down.
Oh well.
Uh....that site still re-directs to the main VZW page for me. Am i the only on with that problem?
Yeah, the link is not working anymore. Even a link from the Verizon search page redirects to the Verizon Wireless homepage. Hope this comes out very soon... looking to get a Blackberry from Verizon soon.
