LG's KC910 Renoir detailed in pics, is high art

Yeah, we've seen the PR, ogled the specs, but real honest-to-goodness pics are doing nothing but make our grins bigger. LG's KC910 packs everything under the sun into its newest and flashiest handset, from an 8 megapixel cannon to Dolby Mobile, GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, this will be a tough review unit to return if we get our paws on one. Apparently still slated for an October release, we've no word on pricing, but you can expect it to sting dearly off-contract. We'll be following this set really closely, so do swing back and we'll be sure to tell ya what we find out. Follow the read link to get the pics.

would be nice if we could get something better than 240 x 400 for a screen tho
HTC's spoiled us
plus a 3x optical zoom.
Another LG KE850 Rip off... oh wait...
It looks more like an Instinct to me.
Yeah, LG has added more features, how dare they!
Seriously why do you keep bringing this up? The iPhone wasn't exactly the first touch screen phone, so stop making it out to be such and using it as an excuse to slag off any company that might just be able to come up with a better alternative.
@flashpoint
anything that works better than an iphone cannot be considered a rip-off. at least not in my eyes.
that's incorrect, doesn't matter if a phone has more features, you have to be quite ignorant to not see the resemblance and it's an obvious move to get some attention, think about it, there's phones like the HTC Diamond and Touch HD that you can tell is quality and have their own design even though all fullscreen touch phones look somewhat similar, but then there's companies like LG that keep throwing out subpar proprietary phones and even though they were first with the LG Prada, their releases following that have not improved
don't attack me for this, but the design of this does look familiar to the iphone. But this phone does sound amazing!
-Jesus
Looks fantastic, I just hope LG manges to pull off the UI as it's somewhere they usually stumble a little.
dont attack me for this, but this looks a lot like an iphone.... but the specs sound great!
sorry i thought my first comment didnt go through. :(
jesus...
I don't know if you're being sarcastic or are genuinely uninformed.
LG invented the all touchscreen phone. The LG KE850. Yeah so Apple ripped off MyOrigo's accelerometer idea http://www.engadget.com/2004/04/12/checking-out-myorigos-tilt-controlled-smartphone/ and LG's full touchscreen idea http://podcasts.engadget.com/2007/01/11/iphone-and-lg-ke850-separated-at-birth etc.
Prior art, LG. Watch the hell out!
what the helll r u talking about
He brings it up because he's looking to start a flame war.
Flashpoint. Do y'see?
Plus he's a fucktard.
From the front it looks exactly like the gen1 iphone. Hopefully they will just copy
the iphone ui and there shouldn't be any issues. I see lg knows about copyright.
"copy right the first time".
Well it worked for Apple, so why shouldn't it work for LG.
Life comes back at Apple full circle, if anyone should be berated, it should be Jobs and pals.

I'm no iphone lover but this looks too much like the iphone. Other touch phones like the touch hd are different in appearance therefor not a ripoff but this is pathetic.
i wonder if its gonna be on alltel.
lol
Yep I do like this phone and it is coming at around end of October in UK.. The only drawback for me is the screen size.
@ Johan S
The Simon was a touchscreen phone released in 1994...
http://cdecas.free.fr/computers/pocket/simon.php
Are this phone and the iPhone built in the exact same factory?
Johan S: The prada was not the first all touchscreen phone. There were several out before it, nec had some back in 2004/5 and you could also argue that the p series sony ericssons (2004 onwards) were also capable of being fully touchscreen too.
And to be honest that phone in the picture does look like the iPhone with the chromed edges and bearing in mind its come out after the iPhone (albeit with higher specs) you can't say its not borrowing the style etc.
It wouldn't be flaming if the design looked to be the same...black with metal trim around side.
He has a point for once dumbasses...I'm not gonna buy apple's design from another company, nor am I gonna buy an iphone.
Give me something better than the iphone with a DIFFERENT look and I'll get it....ohwait they already have like ten of those
LG fail.
i'm tired of the iphone party.. everybody is making the niphone.. will somone just make a better phone already..
...thanks.. ryan
I hate touchscreens foam foam.
...wait, no I don't.
Okay, I understand why everyone is sick of all touchscreen phones being compared to the iPhone but it's never going to stop. The iPhone wasn't the first touch screen phone, but it was the touch screen phone that everyone knew about and it's the touch screen phone that made other manufacturers become interested in touch screen phones. The iPhone is the standard for touch screen phones and made them what they are now, so of course everyone is comparing everything to it.
... but you have to agree, it looks like the Meizu M8...
More pics here: http://dailymobile.se/2008/09/17/pictures-lg-kc910/
amazon.de has it listed for 449€, quite reasonable compared to the 639€ Xperia and the 669€ Nokia N96.
This is a total rip off of the Motorola DynaTAC8000X. It makes phone calls and everything....
High Art? Fine Art / High Fashion...
Something abot 14 year old apple fanboys...
When iPhone came out and ppl said it looked like a Prada, they all said "How many ways can you make a touchscreen phone"
Then they turn to LG and say iPhone knockoff...
Hmm...
It seems like these non Apple products are evolving more quickly than the iPhone.
Finally, Someone finally said it!!
While I'm not a Apple zealot, Apple could come out with something way better. It's an eternal back & forth battle. As soon as Apple makes an iPhone or whatever, that's new & improved, another company will like make a product that's better.
The eternal battle marches on!
THE PERSON WHO POSTED THE FIRST COMMENT WAS NOT ME.
TAKE A LOOK AT MY COMMENTS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT I AM NOT THAT PERSON.
anyone know what carrier is getting this?
No, I'm pretty sure it is you
@letstakeawalk and levi
Actually, Johan is right in regards that the LG Prada being the first "muti touch" full screen touch mobile phone. Six months later the iphone came out. If you want to get technical...the touch screen was invented in 1971.
Yes, the IBM Simon was out in the 90's actually, a year earlier 1993. It was large, ugly and way expensive for 1993...around $900.00. But the Simon was not available world wide, only around 200 cities and 15 states. Of course later we get the first blackberries and then palm treo in 2002. But they were not full screen or muti touch.
The Nokia 7710 was suppose to be released in 2004. But Nokia never released it. So Nokia's first muti touch full screen will be the "tube". If it comes out.
Hey iphone fans...correction the iphone looks like the LG PRADA. o the iphone itself is a ripoff...live with it.
All this is on the web.
So what if it looks like the iPhone?
I like the iPhone's looks.
Actually is one of the few things I like about it.
I ditched the iPhone and went back to my old Nokia N95 8Gb not because of the iPhone bad looks but because among other gripes:
its camera sucks
its GPS sucks
Doesnt do video calls or MMS coz it's got only one (bad) camera
No copy 'n paste.
No bar code scanner.
Doesn't sync well with windows PCs
All problems that the N95 never gave me
But if LG give me an iPhone look alike that actually works decently enough, then why not?
The looks of the iPhone never disturbed me.
Your N95 is nearly twice as thick as an iPhone. Even thicker, in fact, than a MacBook Air, at its thick end.
I'm sure your holster is sexy, but let's get real.
Guess what though, I bet my N95 has more features than your Macbook Air.
Yeah, a real camera tends to make things a bit thicker.
Ha that's kind of funny, I just accepted it as another "idiotic Flashpoint comment". You have for the first time on Engadget been misjudged.
To Randy:
Thinness is a good thing but not if it's achieved at the price of usability and decent specs.
It should be the opposite: one should be able to say: " great cam, great videocam , good GPS, etc. etc., AND it's ALSO thin".
Not "Yeah it's a bit crappy but it's very thin" .
At least that's not the major selling point for me.
this phone is gay, iphone is gay, n95 is supergay, and the HTC Dream is boss. hope touch hd goes to tmobile and runs on android!
Another "me too" device. Worse since it even copies the first gen iPhone externally. Again Apple leads, all others follow. Just like the Zune players.
Woah- didn't know the Zune was mentioned in this story... Oh... Wait... It's not...
Perhaps you haven't heard of the LG KE850? The iPhone is a "me-too" product.
Same post different day
Topic: originality.
Bravo Jubei.
I am so looking forward to this.
@ MacGuroo
Thanks for quoting my link back at me, I hadn't realized the info I was pointing to was available... where did you say... on the Web? LOL.
The reason I made my comment was that Johan's statment, "LG invented the all touchscreen phone" was incorrect. I didn't call him a foul name, nor did I chide him for his faux pas - I just pointed out what is generally considered to be the first touchscreen phone.
I do appreciate your further elaborating on the history of touchscreen telephony, it is a subject in which many commenters seem to be ill-informed.
;p
*in an eric cartman voice*
screw you guys... i just got a touch diamond!
i have to admit it. in terms of plagiarism, koreans are the best! they are the shit!
Amazing! Racist AND ill-informed. I didn't think you had it in you.
What is new in this handset........?
To persuade new customers.......!
@MacGuroo: since when has the prada had multitouch, if you mean no stylus is needed then nec had a phone which had no dial pad or stylus and worked purely by touchscreen before the prada came out?
Now as with all technology its often developed long before its mass market release but the first mass market touchscreen was not released in 1971 and the 'simon' was clearly not a mass market product - plus being America only and I'm UK I didn't have any knowledge of it. However thats just being picky but it is clear that neither the iPhone nor the prada were the first all touchscreen phone wouldn't you agree. .
As to styling the prada and iphone were different - the iphone had chrome on top edge while the prada has it on the sides (theres enough difference there) but this new phone has the chrome in the same place as the iphone and as such looks like an iphone.
Looks like an iPhone, so yes, it's a iPhone Ripoff.. I don't believe you guys... Yeah the specs are different, BUT LOOK AT IT. IT'S A BLATANT KNOCK-OFF!! WTF??
LOL, I swear, ya'll sound so stupid trying to justify this phone that it doesn't look like the iPhone.. Open your friggin' EYES.
iphone design (as a gadget) is not original (just search for the veteran x51v), so get a grip.
The iphone interface IS original.
Very Nice, loved my prada, so cant wait for this one.
You mean the iPrada 3G?
I hope it is easier to use than my LG Vu.
There's a fine point in this that all the Apple haters seemed to have missed in their overzealous defense of all other brands being first to do something before Apple did. Apple didn't claim to be first with a touch screen, did they? No, they didn't. So stop claiming that they did.
The point, which for some reason has gone over all your heads entirely, is that the KC910 pictured above LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE AN iPHONE.
It's not about features. it's not about doing something before or Apple did. IT LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE AN iPHONE.
Did you even look at the picture? At all? Oh I hope one of you idiots is dumb enough to try to explain how it doesn't look like an iPhone. And I'm not talking about a vague rectangular shape, I'm not talking about an all touchscreen interface. I'm talking about how it looks EXACTLY like an iPhone.
Hey I'm sure it's a great phone, lots of neat features, blah blah blah, who cares. The point is that it looks exactly like an iPhone. Clearly other phone manufacturers are able to make full featured phones that don't look like iPhones. Is LG simply so incompetent that they have to literally copy the iPhone's design rather than come up with their own?
Exactly.
I'm not talking about the features, I'm talking about how much of a KNOCKOFF VISUALLY this phone is!
No iPhone talk from me, just the observations of a ku990 owner.
The screen is borderline garbage. Needs to be recalculated constantly and the UI gets bogged down during even simple tasks. The camera is decent for still pics, but anything moving faster than a snails pace is crap. My old k790 took better pics and, and PQ was my main draw to the viewty...
I liked the LG smartphones as an all-in-one replacement, but I'll be holding out for the touch pro or HD.
