Ghostcrawler reveals warrior DPS changes

You remember a few days ago when Ghostcrawler revealed unto us changes for tanking warriors? Well, now she's back with the opening salvo of changes for DPS warriors. Many a tipster mentioned, as does Ghostcrawler, that this is but the first in a series of changes to the DPS warrior in Wrath. So what does this first post reveal? Well, while we'll once again post the complete text behind the jump for those of us who have a hard time seeing the forums, one change goes right into woah, really territory for me.

  • Sudden Death now grants 10 rage, so that following the Execute you have 10 rage left over. In the course of testing this, we also decided Execute by itself wasn't doing enough damage, so it got a buff too (could be around +15%), which will also help the talent.

Now this is very, very interesting to me. First off, not only does this make Sudden Death a lot easier to use, but the idea of Execute getting a 15% damage boost, and it's not clear to me if that is part of the talent, or just part of Execute now... I'm very interested indeed to see what happens here.

The rest of Ghost's post is behind the curtain. Think about it, won't you?

As promised, here are a few dps changes. There will probably be a few more over the next few days.

Fury

Unending Fury changed to increase damage of Slam, Whirlwind and Bloodthirst by 2/4/6/8/10% (it no longer offers a rage discount).

Arms

Sudden Death now grants 10 rage, so that following the Execute you have 10 rage left over. In the course of testing this, we also decided Execute by itself wasn't doing enough damage, so it got a buff too (could be around +15%), which will also help the talent.

Bladestorm breaks roots and snares when initially used. It doesn't break other forms of CC, largely because we suspect that if it did, that functionality in PvP would overshadow the actual cool whirlwindy part.

Strength of Arms now grants 2%/2%/2 Str/Sta/Expertise per point. (Still 2 points total.)

I don't know about the rest of the warriors reading this, but I like the change to Unending Fury. Still, I wish the rage discount was still part of it. That might just be me, though, I love rage discounts. Can't really be mad about a 10% damage increase on Slam, Whirlwind and Bloodthirst.

Bladestorm breaking roots and snares when it's used is pretty good. I don't agree that the fear break would make it OP, but I'm not going to say no to any buff the ability can get.

The Strength of Arms change is huge. 4% Stamina instead of 4% total health is a nice enough change, but the addition of up to 4 expertise (not percent, as I had originally read it - still, 4 expertise is pretty good, 4% would have grown imbalanced) on this ability makes arms a very strong PvE DPS contender.

I can't wait to see what else is in store, based on this little taste of the future.
