Screen grabs chronicles the uses (and misuses) of real-world gadgets in today's movies and TV. Send in your sightings (with screen grab!) to screengrabs at engadget dt com.

In a rare twist of good luck, we're able to bring you a very special Screen Grabs featuring both Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz
and the Nokia
7610. Apparently, the band's new video for the song
I Don't Care -- which was heavily hyped by both label and artist for its multifarious cameos (Pharrell, Mark Hoppus, Spencer Pratt), and sharp lambaste of modern rock bands as "dudes wearing eyeliner and hawking energy drinks" (AKA Fall Out Boy) -- turned into something very different. According to Wentz on a now-removed blog post, the painstaking edit he worked on with director Alan Ferguson was jettisoned for an oddly product placement-filled extravaganza. In his words: "The version of the video that we worked on night after night is not the version that aired, yet somehow a cut full of glorious camera-phone shots did." Luckily for us, a major blow to the band's creative endeavors can be salvaged as another look at a piece of technology we know and certainly love. Video after the break, volume most definitely optional.
[Thanks, Junior]

The article didn't mention how much Fall Out Boy sucks.
theMockingNoob @ Sep 30th 2008 8:18AM
Either you are being sarcastic or you just didn't get the, quite hilarious, "volume most definitely optional" joke.
DDay @ Sep 30th 2008 8:20AM
I think that was just assumed.
matthew @ Sep 30th 2008 8:43AM
Actually it failed to point out that they are Backstreet boys with guitars
or a chick band with cocks... same difference
The Dude @ Sep 30th 2008 12:56PM
I gather that the song is about how Fall Out Boy doesn't care that people think they're awful. Though, they went through the trouble of making a whole song about it and now a video. I'll let the girl-band find the irony on their own.
XXXeMoSwAsIyObTuOlLaFXXX @ Oct 13th 2008 7:21PM
first of all, you can't just go dissin' fall out boy. they are the most awesome band that ever lived.
second of all, have you ever even heard their music? yeah, i didn't think so.
blizz419 @ Sep 30th 2008 8:16AM
uggh fallout out boy will someone kill these guys, radio waves are so fuckin polluted with fake ass artists that just plain suck, and to think there are chicks that like dudes wearin eyeliner, they obviously like dudes that like to suck on the same thing they do.
Allister @ Sep 30th 2008 8:16AM
Pffft...
Poozle @ Sep 30th 2008 8:23AM
Just watched that and all of the camera phone scenes don't seem to fit in with the video at all, something fishy going on there definately.
Frun @ Sep 30th 2008 8:26AM
Fail out boy?

What has been seen, cannot be unseen...
That was just painful, on the eyes and the ear's.
shanoboy @ Sep 30th 2008 9:04AM
Hey, if so few are going to obtain music legally they might as well make some cash by selling product placements.
I don't think anybody really watches music videos too much anymore anyway. I wouldn't sweat it too much if I were them.
Chris @ Sep 30th 2008 9:56AM
The problem wasn't the product placement, the problem was that the product placement wasn't supposed to be in the video that debuted on iTunes. They didn't want nokia all over the version of the video that their fans were paying for.
jorvay @ Sep 30th 2008 9:06AM
Nice use of the overly rare "multifarious."
Zorque @ Sep 30th 2008 9:15AM
Maybe they're doing it ironically, because that's how everyone does everything these days.
I'm commenting ironically right now, even.
konshuss @ Sep 30th 2008 9:42AM
emo whining about something? what else is new. call a waaambulance, you rich douchebags.
kriscolumbus @ Sep 30th 2008 10:18AM
Fall Out Boy's video for "A Little Less Sixteen Candles..." was also a blatant advertisement for cell phone service. I can't believe they're whining about this one.
noyp @ Sep 30th 2008 8:15PM
So was Thnks Fr Th Mmrs. They showed the Nokia 5300
peruser @ Sep 30th 2008 10:28AM
it appears that mr. wentz should only be surprised if he had artistic integrity to begin with. Everything about this "band" screams advertisement. lol... painstaking edit work...
XenoX101 @ Sep 30th 2008 10:37AM
Finally, Fall Out Boy release a song with a title that reflects my thoughts on the band.
Bob @ Sep 30th 2008 11:15AM
Well, that was Doucheriffic. No wonder I stopped listening to FM radio 10 years ago. Rammstein FTW!
Rudiger @ Sep 30th 2008 1:56PM
Du...
Du hast...
Du hast mich...
paul @ Sep 30th 2008 3:45PM
Rammstein? What is this, 1997?
Muhammad-Oli @ Sep 30th 2008 7:38PM
Hey, he did say "10 years ago"...
elmuerKo @ Sep 30th 2008 2:20PM
didnt one of them crash a plane recently?
urbanminstrel @ Sep 30th 2008 4:56PM
Yeah, Travis Barker is the lead singer of fall out boy. He used to be the bassist in this band called The Movie Life and he started this as a side project. He got his start as the second keyboardist for David Gilmour's (of Pink Floyd) touring band.
Jose B. @ Sep 30th 2008 5:20PM
Bravo. Well, played.

the camera in the picture doesn't seem real. it doesn't look like the keypad has buttons.
henry @ Oct 1st 2008 6:58AM
thanks, i was hoping I wasnt the only one who noticed that.
Ethan @ Sep 30th 2008 12:27PM
Not that I'm particularly fond of the music, but the product placement isn't his fault.
Macbeth @ Sep 30th 2008 1:15PM
How is it not? unless they are complete tools.
Ethan @ Sep 30th 2008 8:56PM
He said it got re-edited.
Kakkoii @ Sep 30th 2008 1:05PM
Lol, did anyone else watch it to the end?
They put a Sarah Palin look a like in the end XD
Rudiger @ Sep 30th 2008 1:53PM
Of course no one watched it to the end.
Silly...
nate @ Sep 30th 2008 6:38PM
yea, the video was weird enough already, and then here's palin winking at me....that should not be...
Vander @ Sep 30th 2008 2:40PM
Hey, everyone hates Fall Out Boy. What else is new?
But yeah, I dig these guys. They paid their dues and made it big.
Good for them.
Believe me, there's much worse shit out there besides Fall Out Boy.
exthuse @ Sep 30th 2008 1:04PM
Jiminy Jillickers!
jmd @ Sep 30th 2008 1:17PM
the product placement is total bs.. they need to get a new label.. or sue.
I dont follow fall out boys music.. but I actually though this song was pretty good. Maybe cause I don't listen to the radio and hear it every 15 minutes?
name??? @ Sep 30th 2008 3:39PM
Fallout Boy rock !!! yeah ! it just that they rock for 1% of the rock listeners (12-13 year old teenagers)
Yeah... @ Sep 30th 2008 5:07PM
Fall Out Boy sucks and thank God that Travis is ok so that (+44) is still around, rest in piece Blink 182, and it is quite sad that Mark Hoppus was to be in this music video... and for all you people who like them, get rid of your radio and look into listing to real bands that ACTUALLY HAVE TALENT...that is all.
Blaktornado @ Sep 30th 2008 5:50PM
Wow. That video didn't make me think "what a bunch of pricks" at all. How good for their "image".
henry @ Oct 1st 2008 4:10AM
wow! sarah palin too?? Wow that just makes me want to run out and vote pro-suck right now!!!
"Isnt that what you want? You know, government-approved rock-n-roll? Dont you wanna be out at a concert one night and look over and see Dan Fucking Quayle rocking out next to you? Fuck it, the Quayle Monster is here, there ain't no going back! You know your partying then, you know you're on the edge! We might be up till 11 tonight! Fuck This!"
I'd love to cut up fall out boy into little pieces of mall cordwood. oh, this is supposed to be "art"? All I see are douchebags with more money than sense.
Emily @ Oct 11th 2008 10:35PM
wow....well i doubt anyone will read this. but to all the people criticizing fall out boy...you should do some research and learn some real things about them. they're pretty good guys. its good to be open minded about things. if you don't like it then you don't like it. and theres obviously no problem with that. but spending your time complaining about them and insulting them seems like a waste of time then.
