Violet announces dal:dal internet-connected lamp

It's an expectedly cryptic announcement, but it looks like the whimsical folks at Violet have finally seen fit to offer a follow-up to their original and less-than-affordable dal internet-connected lamp, with the all new dal:dal lamp apparently on track for a release early next year. As before, the lamp will change colors to relay different information, or, as Violet puts it, convert the "world's ebb & flow and endless stream of events into halos of living colours and audio micro-messages." No exact release date just yet but, according to GeekLifeBlog, it'll set you back €59, or about $75.

looks like a knock off of the mathmos orb.
...or the 3 shells from that one movie.
Actually, it seems more like a knock-off of the Ambient Orb:

i didn't know pokeballs could change colour
Gotta have 'em in all colors!
If you'd been paying attention... they infact did in the G/S/C games.
They look so cool! It'd be better if they were more colourful or something though (Is that possible??) real expensive though yeah?
How about i charge $20 for a USB led that lights up when there is hard drive activity. No? Didn't think so.
These do what now?
where's the indian food?
Wrong. Site.

If this could indicate how fast my internet connection is in real time with green, red and yellow it would be great.
Ever since they comcast upgraded their systems docsis 3.0 they tell me I have a 12mb (16mb with speed boost) connection, but now my internet connection keeps dropping between 4mb and 12mb...so annoying!
(but me and my type 100 I still own you in COD5)
You're annoying with 4mb/s connection?! I have 400kb/s, imagine what it must be for me!
My bad.
mb = Mbps fail. :)
This looks like a variation of the Ambient Orb from Ambient Devices. The Orb has been around since at least 2004. How is this different?

Well, they're expected to be half the price, for one thing, while including new features (sound cues). I love the idea of the Ambient Orb, but the cost has kept me away, and IIRC, they've never budged on that. haven't they always been $150?
NICE

Back already?
BTW, it's so unprofessional to put your "name" AND write professional above it after your comment.. we can already see your wannabe name above your comment..
You'd think that with the clusterf- that was the Nabaztag, they would manage to promise a little less than that. I would be surprised if the thing even lit up.
Unfortunate name. Happens to be a slang for masturbation in Korean.
I didn't want these, but now I do.
Well now they're even sexier Pokéballs!
wow - did they really just ripoff Ambient Device's Orbs? 5 years too late?
Where's the most craptastic item poll? I didn't see it under the post??
