Bellperre adds "Silver and Golden" collection to capitalize on booming economy
Remember Bellperre? Don't feel bad, we had to refresh our memory, too -- but it turns out these guys have a new "customizable Silver and Golden" collection that's available in any color of exotic leather you like. Pink crocodile? No problem. Blue buffalo? Just say the word. Oh, and bring a few grand while you're at it, because these suckers are just about the most expensive Windows Mobile Standard candybars you'll ever come across.

VERY CHARMING indeed. I want one.
B1eric @ Dec 6th 2008 3:38PM
Karen, Pricing starts at 1259 euro.
That is not bad. The phones are 0% plastic and they offer all leather colors and textures.
Steve @ Dec 6th 2008 3:53PM
Personally, I really like how it looks judging by the available photos:

rather elegant and not too glamorous, an ideal combination glass, leather and metal. Simply great!
RENE @ Dec 6th 2008 3:55PM
WELL DONE BELLPERRE!!
THE 1ST LUXURY PHONE THAT LOOKS NOT SNOBBISH!!
EVEN GOLD BELLPERRE IS NOT SNOBBISH. MAYBE PINK CROCO IS BIT OVER THE TOP, AND BROWN CROCO WITH ROSE GOLD IS REALLY VERY BEAUTIFULL.
superhobo @ Dec 8th 2008 4:47AM
I think they are useful as bad taste identifiers.
Stay away, far away from anyone who has one of those.
superhobo @ Dec 8th 2008 4:50AM
I went through the pictures on the website. And those pictures look...JUST AS HIDEOUS GAH
Jamster @ Dec 8th 2008 12:12PM
I like the phones. If I had the money for it.
To me their looks are unique and elegance within the mobiles we know so far.
Also on their website the phones seem to have a glamorous design I think is very amazing.

They are OK to me.
Samboini @ Dec 6th 2008 4:00AM
At least the design rocks. O wait.
Jim09551 @ Dec 6th 2008 3:31PM
COOL !
These fine devices are made of NO plastic. In real they are much smaller, only 99mm.
If you read the site, these phones are made in Holland.
James @ Dec 6th 2008 4:57AM
Id like to hit iEye in the head with one of those.

Ooh, Ooh!!!
Flashpoint too!!!
Pleeeeeease?

I'd rather shove it up his ass. Windows Inside indeed.
Matthew @ Dec 6th 2008 5:28AM
Looks heavy. Either that or incredibly cheap. Made in China cheap.
Alexei @ Dec 6th 2008 5:29AM
God forbid that the CEO of Ford is caught with one of those in Congress.
Tommy @ Dec 6th 2008 6:00AM
Wow! I like the phones, especially the combination of steel and leather. far better than mobiaddo
loocas @ Dec 6th 2008 6:47AM
The booming economy I hear everywhere about, is actually mostly affecting and caused by the US. There are other countries around the world, did you know? And they might actually have a higher standard of living than the US, did you know? So, no matter how ugly these boxes are, they might be as well aimed to those without "booming economy".
groovy_guy @ Dec 6th 2008 10:01AM
*checks his canadian milk prices*
Uhhh....yep it's here too. Should we ask Iceland if they have been hit yet? China? Great Britain? Sweden? Mexico? Venezuela? India?
Loocas, the only people that this near-depression is not affecting are the people that are well off enough that they forget to look out their car window as they zoom by all the homeless people in the streets, or notice that they stood in line for that Wii to make a quick buck and for some reason they can't seem to sell it for more than retail.
The U.S. dollar is still the world's reserve currency (for some reason). And as long as we have that and the rediculous idea of globalization and central banking, we will all suffer.
KilgoreTrout @ Dec 6th 2008 8:02AM
What I would be most interested in would be the list with the names of the people who bought one of these ripoffs.
I'm sure I would manage to sell them the Golden Gate bridge, or the colosseum, or maybe one of these real estate lots on the planet Venus I'm currently offering at a discount.
Cybergypsy @ Dec 6th 2008 8:27AM
Fail.
Nerd Ferguson @ Dec 6th 2008 10:36AM
The booming economy remark wouldn't be sarcasm, would it? :-)
Frank23tru @ Dec 6th 2008 11:08AM
NICE ONES!
These phones are fine and small, just 99mmlong and 44mm wide. I sincerely like their look.
anna349 @ Dec 6th 2008 11:10AM
Well, maybe you have no taste. These phones are freaky cool!!
Shinigami @ Dec 6th 2008 11:14AM
And under the battery cover you'll find your most beloved words - "Made in China" :)
Marc @ Dec 6th 2008 11:52AM
What ISN'T "Made in China"? Look around your House/Apt...I'll bet you 75% or more is "Made in China". My Car and Furniture are all I have that are not "Made in China".
JustMe @ Dec 6th 2008 12:25PM
Actually, if you go to the site, it shows "Hand Made in Holland" under the battery compartment
valeri @ Dec 6th 2008 1:37PM
Beautifull! The BELLPERRE phones on the webgallery are very nice, of all times.

I like them.
(Deal with it perhaps)
Buchanon_28XT @ Dec 6th 2008 2:31PM
I was going to rant on how luxury items keep selling well, but then I saw Bellperre’s site, which seemed pretty charming. Their devices are made of authentical material, sapphire crystal, real alligator leather and 100% metal frame. The price starts at 1259 euro. That is less than expected for such a handmade item.
Jooburn @ Dec 6th 2008 3:13PM
AMAZING!!
Less is more.
JIM @ Dec 6th 2008 3:53PM
WOW! I would like one.
The leather palette is huge - you have over 200 colors to choose from, while the type of leather is equally stunning as you mull over crocodile, shark, buffalo and calf.
XenoX101 @ Dec 7th 2008 1:30AM
They certainly look expensive, but part me of thinks it is a bit impractical that a phone that proclaims itself as a luxury phone be equipped with relatively low tech features and design. Especially with touch screens being almost the norm these days, this phone is the equivalent of a current year Mercedes Benz without a CD-player or GPS, unacceptable really.
Bill @ Dec 7th 2008 11:13PM
I have to agree with you: For that kind of money I'd want a phone as feature packed as I could get it. Despite the use of quality materials, it's not like these are some sort of investment pieces that's going to retain or appreciate in value.
Also, I don't find the phones to be aesthetically pleasing at all: They look like old fashioned cigarette cases to me.
To me, the Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte is a much better looking luxury phone.
QWE-Harold @ Dec 8th 2008 3:28AM
Their target should be on those who also spend on expensive leather bags, watches and fashion items.
These people are no geeks and use thier watch to watch time and use their phone to make phone calls. And they want a phone that complements their exclusive clothing. I can imagine there are certain girls that wants a bellperre phone with leather that fits her leather bag. Or a guy with the leather of his watch. So I would say a Bellperre is for those who appreciate fine crafted luxury goods and are not interested in the latest specs they do not use. Why people pay 11.000 dollar for a watch? not me.
The vast majority only uses their phone to make phonecalls.
By the way, compared to cheapest Vertu, a bellperre seems to be much more affordable (3 times). I think Bellperre phones are sincerely fine crafted.
D-Tronic @ Dec 7th 2008 7:25AM
Is it just me or does this look like get it's inspiration from those useless cigarette cases you see those snobbish old women carrying around.
http://www.kingstars.com/cigcase.htm
Bo @ Dec 8th 2008 3:16AM
That is why they call these phones TIMELESS luxury phones.
I appreciate the combination of timeless luxury fashion for a modern product as a cellphone that not existed these times.
xxxxxx @ Dec 7th 2008 8:58PM
Animals are killed for cellphones, WTF is this. What is the purpose of that, thousand of animals are killed every day. Think about it..people.
Abraham @ Dec 8th 2008 3:00AM
That is not correct!
Bellperre syas it uses genuine exotice leathers. Nowadays genuine exotive leather like shark and crocodile are originally not killed for that purpose. Please be aware of the global CITES rules:
Sharks are killed in nets of fisherman (for your fishmeal) and then skins are used for luxury goods. In area's like Australia and US, alligators are killed because they are dangerous to the neighboorhoods where people live and children play. And also the cause is bioliogic, in certain area's it is still the way of living that people kill these animals for their own food.
Octagon @ Dec 7th 2008 9:46PM
A company that rips off the (free download) Porsche font for its Logo already make its lame as hell, cheap, cheap and cheap.
Barac-T @ Dec 8th 2008 3:00AM
If you ask me, I think these phones have a cool elegance. Very timeless and no cheap platsic.
Ching @ Dec 8th 2008 3:34AM
To me, the Bellperre collection are much more luxury and better looking luxury phones than a Nokia 8800 Sapphire Arte or anyone other I have seen.
Here I found more:

Bill @ Dec 8th 2008 2:28PM
@QWE-Harold, I know who there target market is. By the way, I happen to work in the fashion industry, at the high end. Therefore, I probably know more about the target market than you do.
However, I think you'd be surprised at the number of luxury consumers that are technically savvy. And, that will want quite a bit more than what these phones are offering them at that price. These phones are all show (well, not to me) and no substance - like Paris Hilton.
As a luxury consumer myself, I want both style and substance. I don't want a clunky gold rectangle that does the bare minimum required of a cell phone. I don't care if it's made of 24 carat gold and is encrusted diamonds. If it can't even offer me the features of a phone I could buy for 500 to 700 Euros - which would get me a very feature packed phone - then it's not worth my time nor my money. And, before you go thinking I couldn't afford one of these luxury phones, I've got news for you: I can quite easily.
I can imagine these phones selling well in Middle East, Russia and China though as these regions have quite status conscious, showy cultures.
